4th place in a 33 person tourney with RGb over the weekend.

my list hasnt change in a while, the tranquil thicket is now a sheltered thicket.
Round 1 Elves:
Both games T1 exploration, t2 show combo. In game 2, he natural ordered a creature away just to eat it with DRS to get 22 life. Being able to wasteland his cradle the following turn (while he was at 2 life) was huge, had another natural order in hand.
Round 2 Moon Stompy:
Win game 1 on a true gamble for decay to take care of an ensnaring bridge and attack. Chalice for 2 was also on the table. Win game 2 with the new blood moon interaction! Faced a t1 moon, was able to do a t3 tracker with the help of a mox, then drop depths (which now has no counters) for a clue, next turn draw a grip and decide to go for it.
Round 3 4c Control/Pile.
When they dont get DRS, man is wasteland lock great. Won g1 via that. Lost g2 via multiple strixes and a jace. won g3 on the back of a 2 trackers. G3, getting a t1 exploration force of will'd pitching a strix, and then a t2 molten vortex forced pitching jace was huge. I'll take those trades all day.
Round 4 Grixis Delver
Quick combo g1, g2 I use a tracker plan, i get down to 8 via flying delver, he is at 7 at this point. Then throws me wayyyy off by wasting one of his own lands to cast price of progress. I take 8 and lose, he took 6. G3 I poorly mulligan and lose to a fast delver.
Round 5 Grixis Delver again
Exploration, wasteland, loam rolling in g1 to a quick concede. G2 a DRS I can't handle does work, at one point my only out is going for depths hoping no edict. edict. G3 lost to a super quick pyromancer and 3 bolts.
Round 6 DNT
Note this player was new to legacy and wasn't sure what to do. To the point of playing revovker in g2 and tried to name stage, I told him non-land, he couldnt thing of another target. g1 I win making a token while no white mana was avail. G2 I lost to overwhelming number of ports, wasteland and karakas he drew. G3 I won by crop rotating for combo after he burned a path to exlie on a tracker, took a gamble he didnt have a 2nd one, cause he would of used stp on tracker instead of path.
Top 8, Grixis Delver, Round 4 opponent.
Gets me down to 6 with a flying delver, then i show combo, he doesnt attack. I top deck Barbarian ring, and win. G2 was great, got my loam surgical'd early, but had crucible in hand. Use brutality to check for counter, no counter in hand, but get rid of that price of progress in hand! cast the crucible and wasteland all his lands, at this point he has a delver and gurmag and no lands, the brutality took care of his DRS too. I have 1 maze slowing him down, eventually draw gamble, gamble for tabernacle w/ another land in hand. but crucible in play, so its not a gamble. concede.
Top 4, Noble BUG
I didnt take notes, but I should of, cause game 1 was a great chess match. Involving true names, and chasm locks, and tabernacles and jitte life gain counters. Game 2 I can't recall anything note worthy but i lost the match
So won a plateau after all that.
Thoughtseizes never came in, deluge never got drawn, decays main still prove their worth to me, esp that g1 vs moon stompy. There were times i decay'd a critical strix, drs, delver where if it was countered (if i had punishing fire instead), would of delayed me long enough to lose...so in that sense , I still like the black splash, been on it since january. This store has a lot of DnT and Moon decks. Even RW Taxes shows up. Very little combo. Im unsure if RG w/ some sweepers in the board is a better call.

Funny meta at my lcgs yesterday, I went 4-0 against D&T and 3x UR delver :) This is another matchup, besides elves, in which Spheres are good enough to play them on the draw. I also kept 3 Rotation and 3 gambles after sideboarding, so I could either get missing piece early or force them to throw away Nemezis with FoW or even Daze their only land, what significantly slowed them down.
Two games won by Molten Vortrex early on the board (especially first game against D&T).
So leading up to Eternal Weekend I can’t decide whether to play the Burning Wish version or not. Any thoughts, pro or con?

For reasons I previously outline talking about living wish, I am not a huge fan of wishes in Lands (or really in general other than TES). I think in lands in particular its not great since cuts are awkward. On the whole I think we have enough singletons that Gamble and Crop Rotation are better tutors for us. (gamble can grab more than wish can, crop rot is an instant; plus both are one mana which is not irrelevant). I think wishes feel good more than they actually are good. Sure you get access to silver bullets of a certain type, but as the cost of taking a key turn off (often) or not being mana efficient (which can be just as bad). Plus you devote a good deal of sideboard slots to your wishboard which is a real cost, especially in a deck that has some matchups where you must board in/out a lot of cards (here I mean combo, where you add your taxing effects).
Those are valid downsides on the wishes. There are upsides too ofcourse.
- Bwish gets your engine, loam and hides it postboard from Surgical.
- Devastating Dreams. It's an incredible flavorful card to play with in Lands. Good oldtimes Aggro Loam flavor. In one spell you can have the same devastating effect of what waste/quarter/loam/exploration/Tabernacle do in multiple turns.
- Having the flex to deal with artifacts and enchantments in Hull Breach.
Bwish kinda bridges the gap between RUG and RG, as it can sweep (dreams) and deal with all permanents (breach) like EE, without taking deckspace as it's loam 5 to 7-8 as well. And retains the explosiveness of classic RG.
You could put Tsunami main if you like it so much...
... And replace Maze with Forcefield...
But there's a point. I would like to have not all beta but at least old-frame style. I'd like to see a new Set with modern card reprints (which are legacy keycards) in old-frame.
Life from the loam, chalice of the void, dark depths and stage etc.
Don't forget Boiling Seas, it's a sorcery.
Tested the deck with uwr stoneblade piloting by my friend tonight and all the game loss is due to either bloodmoon or TNN. Stoneblade is a very annoying deck to play against because it is nearly immune to wasteland...
btw I don't have Drop of honey so I wonder how much it could help in this match-up.
Team Blood, Beijing.
Currently play: Sneaky Show/ Lands

The only time I tried the wish build I Dreams a Nic Fit deck who had a sea of basics on the table. I had two Moxen out so I just blew up everything. Fantastic feeling.
It is an area thats pretty unexplored, but I would only play burning wish if I had a deluge I could wish for. Mainly because I would only play wish if it added utility to deal with problematic permanents. Things that are problematic are true name nemesis and blood moon. Without black the only way to kill a true name with straight RG is having tabernacle + many cards in hand to be able to wish for devastating dreams (or obviously wastelock with tabernacle).
That seems unlikely to easily assemble while being pressured by a TNN. As far as blood moon goes, reverent silence would probably be the card of choice for me. Despite the fact that is is obviously a non-bo with exploration. It is very feasible for a moon deck to have multiple in play, where hull breach does not help. Also, wishing for "free" cards is a nice strategy.
While being pressured by TNN in straight R/G, it's combo fast or die anyway though. At least Dreams gives any out at all against it.
Yeah my wishboard is currently Reverent Silence, Loam, Dreams, Hull Breach. Reverent is great but keep in mind if you dont have the basic forest in play you can't cast it for free under moon.
As for the wish variant as a whole, in general I like it. I think it's probably a bad choice in a faster metagame, but with how open the field seems to be at the moment it's a useful toolbox. Dreams in general has been very good for me in enough matchups for it to be worth it I think. All that said, I haven't gotten enough reps in with it to say anything definitive, but I'll probably run it at EW if only because it's fun.
