Just so I understand, we assume the worst option of the random happens for him? And that is why I have a window?
T1 Swift/Pass
T2 Bauble / Pass
T3 Bolt, crack bauble/ Pass
T4 Pass/ Pass, EOT bolt
T5 stream of thought, assume bauble on top/skimmer
T6 bauble / skimmer lock, win
So draw.
Will edit.
Indeed. All random effects are as unfavorable as possible for the controller, so if a library has two cards in it in random order, they will be in the order that is worst for the owner of that library.
If dte has two points less, that means his deck won't get banned. I'll edit the things before I open next round. Which might be a while, because I don't have much time this weekend.

ROUND 11 of SEASON 7: PAUPER BANNATHON has started.
I have PM'ed myself my deck for round 11, so you can start sending me your decks.
DEADLINE: Wednesday the 9th of September, at 11:00AM Central European Time.
(That's my time zone. Pacific Time it'll probably be something like Tuesday night a bit past midnight, so keep that in mind.)
PLEASE NOTE:
The way you send your deck to me matters. Please send it in the way described below, so it doesn't cost me an hour of editing before I can post all the decks.
Please send your deck as follows: Swamp, Swamp, Terror, Dauthi Slayer.
So with card tags around each card, and not above eachother, and with your Username and 4CB S07R11 in the topic.
Don't forget to keep an eye on the banned list. You'll find it in the second post of the thread, or in our Google Spreadsheet.
After the deadline has passed, I will post all decks on the forum here, and you can start puzzling out your scores.
If you have any questions, please read the first two posts of this thread first. If you can't find the answer there, drop a message here. We'll answer a.s.a.p.
Also, if you've been lurking on this thread and looking to join, you can step in anytime, any round. That's no problem at all. Just send me your deck before the deadline, and I'll add you to the competition.
Happy deck designing everybody!![]()

Did one of us forget to submit or submit an illegal deck? Just checking.
I think I remember some posts about Asthereal being busy these days, which makes me glad on Asthereal's behalf that the next season is already decided and doesn't need any extra decisions or tinkering.
I'm always worried that I submitted an illegal deck or got a card wrong, even though it's just a game. A few weeks ago, I was building around Sinkhole and thought I had a really clever way to round out the deck. It wasn't until I was about to submit it that I realized that Peat Bog was banned ages ago. Recently I was deciding between two fairly similar decks, one of which used a Snow-Covered land. As I was lying in bed about to fall asleep, I suddenly jumped up when I remembered that I didn't type "snow-covered" in my submission. It wasn't until I went to send a correction that I realized that I had chosen the other deck that used a regular basic. Oops.![]()
This one's on me, guys. My yesterday went a little different than I expected. But I'm back, and here are the decks for the penultimate round.

For once I will try to calculate my results, much easier with almost the same deck as last week...
deck: Swiftwater Cliffs, Conjurer's Bauble, Stream of Thought, chain Lightning
DECKS FOR ROUND 11 OF SEASON 7: Pauper Bannathon
1. Asthereal (TO): Plains, Swamp, Caravan Escort, Final Payment
6-0. Kill caravan and win.
2. Reeplcheep: Urza's Mine, Urza's Powerplant, Urza's Tower, Ruin Processor
0-6. get smashed.
3. GoblinSmashmaster: Forest, Firewild Borderpost, Silhana Ledgewalker, Taste for Mayhem
0-6. Get smashed
5. alphastryk: Swamp, Crookshank Kobolds, Tendrils of Despair, Vile Rebirth
6-0. Not caring about discard helps.
6. Wrath of Pie: Island, Fieldmist Borderpost, Dream Thrush, Infiltrator il-Kor
2-2. I never cast chain to be able to kill the bird at sight, or only with bauble on the board to kill infiltrator, if bird is not cast yet.
7. H: Swamp, Divest, Duty-Bound Dead, Fourth Bridge Prowler
6-0. Not caring about discard helps.
8. maxx!: Remote Farm, Kor Skyfisher, Kor Skyfisher, Journey to Nowhere
6-0. Kill the Kors and win.
9. FTW: Saprazzan Skerry, Phantasmal Terrain, Phantasmal Bear, Martyr of Frost
0-6. lose my land and lose.
10. silkster: Swamp, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Culling the Weak, Canker Abomination
0-6. Get smashed.
11. Tylert: Plains, Akrasan squire, Akrasan squire, Sacred cat
6-0. Kill everything and win.
32 points.
Asthereal's scores for round oh no I have no time at all.
1. Asthereal (TO): Plains, Swamp, Caravan Escort, Final Payment
A good threat and a removal. That's all I could muster for this one. Let's see how poorly it does.
2. Reeplcheep: Urza's Mine, Urza's Powerplant, Urza's Tower, Ruin Processor
Yup, both Post and Tron are still legal. But three lands and one threat is rather vulnerable. Payment kills your guy and the Escort wins it. 6-0
3. GoblinSmashmaster: Forest, Firewild Borderpost, Silhana Ledgewalker, Taste for Mayhem
I should have gone for Diabolic Edict, shouldn't I? Your guy is faster than mine, and I can't kill or block it. 0-6
4. dte: Swiftwater Cliffs, Conjurer's Bauble, Stream of Thought, chain Lightning
Did not expect you to actually revisit this deck with a worse burn spell. Chain kills my guy and my removal is crap. 0-6
5. alphastryk: Swamp, Crookshank Kobolds, Tendrils of Despair, Vile Rebirth
Cards too slow for proper interaction. 0-6
6. Wrath of Pie: Island, Fieldmist Borderpost, Dream Thrush, Infiltrator il-Kor
My removal plays around the Thrush. Escort easily races Thrush and I Payment the Infiltrator when it resolves. 6-0
7. H: Swamp, Divest, Duty-Bound Dead, Fourth Bridge Prowler
You either Divest or Prowler my guy. I have but one removal for your two threats. Prowler is a nice find! 0-6
8. maxx!: Remote Farm, Kor Skyfisher, Kor Skyfisher, Journey to Nowhere
My deck doesn't even put up a fight against this. Skyfisher with Remote Farm is a nice combo. 0-6
9. FTW: Saprazzan Skerry, Phantasmal Terrain, Phantasmal Bear, Martyr of Frost
You have to spend your first active turn to Terrain my land so I can't use my removal. But Escort actually wins the race on its own, see below. 6-0
10. silkster: Swamp, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Culling the Weak, Canker Abomination
Payment the Abomination, Escort wins it. 6-0
11. Tylert: Plains, Akrasan squire, Akrasan squire, Sacred cat
More math. See below again. My defence is just in time, but I can't attack so we draw twice. 2-2
Total: 26 points. Not nearly as bad as I expected.
Against FTW with me OTD
F: Skerry
A: Escort
F: Terrain
A: L1, att (18)
F: Two guys
A: L2
F: att for 2 (18)
A: L3
F: att for 2 (16)
A: L4
F: att for 2 (14)
A: L5 (5/5), att (13, no reason to chump yet)
F: att for 3 (11)
A: att (8)
F: att for 3 (8)
A: att (3)
F: att for 2, keep 1/1 back (6)
A: att, chump and from here I win it with two turns to spare.
Against Tylert OTD:
T: Cat
A: Escort
T: Squire, att 18/22
A: L1 (2/2)
T: Squire, att 15/25
A: L2
T: att, 12/28
A: L3
T: att, 9/31
A: L4
T: att, 6/34
A: L5, my guy is now 5/5 and will block and kill your attacker.
I'm at 6 life, so swarming doesn't work. But my 6 v.s your 34 life means attacking isn't an option.
Considering how close this is, I don't think I have time to pay 5 life and not level up a turn to use my removal.
Also, considering how close this is, being on the play probably doesn't really help me much.
Looks liek no matter what, I have to keep my guy back for defence and we draw twice.
Join the 4 Card Blind competition!
9. FTW: Saprazzan Skerry, Phantasmal Terrain, Phantasmal Bear, Martyr of Frost
1. Asthereal (TO): Phantasmal Terrain stops Final Payment, but I can't stop Caravan Escort from hitting L5 and racing me. LL 0-6
2. Reeplcheep: Phantasmal Terrain stops Tron even OTD. WW 6-0
3. GoblinSmashmaster: Even OTP I can't counter Ledgewalker with Martyr, and to counter Taste I would need to sandbag both cards and then have nothing to race the 1/1. LL 0-6
4. dte: Phantasmal Terrain turns your land into a basic Forest, breaking your loop before you can kill any of my guys. WW 6-0
5. alphastryk: That was my 2nd choice, except I had the strictly better version with Kobolds of Kher Keep. Curious who does better. I keep Land + Bear to trade with your 2/2 and draw. DD 2-2
6. Wrath of Pie: Our mana denial misses each other. You race me despite suspend. LL 0-6
7. H: OTP you can do only 1 thing before I turn your land into a Forest. If you Divest Bear, Martyr kills you. If you play a creature, Bear races you.
OTD you get to Divest my Bear and play Duty-Bound Dead, to race my 1/1 Martyr. WL 3-3
8. maxx!: OTP Phantasmal Terrain stops you before you can cast anything. OTD you get to cast 1 Skyfisher first, but then if you ever replay the Farm it turns into a Forest before it untaps. You can't race my 2/2 and 1/1, so you play defense to draw. WD 4-1
10. silkster: Unlike Ferocious Tigorilla, that abomination is not stopped by my creatures. LL 0-6
11. Tylert: OTP you only get 1 creature before I turn your land to a Forest, and my 2/2 and 1/1 race whatever you keep. OTD you get Squire + Cat first. I trade bear with 2/2 lifelink Cat, then Squire races Martyr. WL 3-3
24 points (7 wins, 3 draws)
Tendrils would have been much better. Too many people still played around LD despite no good 1-mana LD being left, but would have been wrecked by discard despite 2 good double discard decks being legal.

6. Wrath of Pie: Island, Fieldmist Borderpost, Dream Thrush, Infiltrator il-Kor
1. Asthereal (TO): Plains, Swamp, Caravan Escort, Final Payment LL
2. Reeplcheep: Urza's Mine, Urza's Powerplant, Urza's Tower, Ruin Processor WL - Unlike Pauper, we get to play Cloudpost.
3. GoblinSmashmaster: Forest, Firewild Borderpost, Silhana Ledgewalker, Taste for Mayhem WW - Dream Thrush flies!
4. dte: Swiftwater Cliffs, Conjurer's Bauble, Stream of Thought, chain Lightning DD
5. alphastryk: Swamp, Crookshank Kobolds, Tendrils of Despair, Vile Rebirth LL
7. H: Swamp, Divest, Duty-Bound Dead, Fourth Bridge Prowler LL
8. maxx!: Remote Farm, Kor Skyfisher, Kor Skyfisher, Journey to Nowhere WL
9. FTW: Saprazzan Skerry, Phantasmal Terrain, Phantasmal Bear, Martyr of Frost WW
10. silkster: Swamp, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Culling the Weak, Canker Abomination LL
11. Tylert: Plains, Akrasan squire, Akrasan squire, Sacred cat LL
6w2d = 20 points
My other option was use the Borderpost tech (thanks, FTW) to play Selesnya Evangel, probably would have been better because I could also play Putrid Leech for 4 power if necessary.

2. Reeplcheep: Urza's Mine, Urza's Power Plant, Urza's Tower, Ruin Processor
Silhana smash, then Eldrazi smash 3-3
3. GoblinSmashmaster: Forest, Firewild Borderpost, Silhana Ledgewalker, Taste for Mayhem
That's me!
4. dte: Swiftwater Cliffs, Conjurer's Bauble, Stream of Thought, chain Lightning
Silhana smash! 6-0

1. Asthereal (TO): Plains, Swamp, Caravan Escort, Final Payment
Discard beats a slow deck. WW
6-0
2. Reeplcheep: Urza's Mine, Urza's Power Plant, Urza's Tower, Ruin Processor
Discard beasts a slow deck. WW
6-0
3. GoblinSmashmaster: Forest, Firewild Borderpost, Silhana Ledgewalker, Taste for Mayhem
Double discard is still very powerful. WW
6-0
4. dte: Swiftwater Cliffs, Conjurer's Bauble, Stream of Thought, chain Lightning
My discard does nothing! LL
0-6
5. alphastryk: Swamp, Crookshank Kobolds, Tendrils of Despair, Vile Rebirth
This is me. Kobolds chosen by default as the one I was least likely to misspell.
6. Wrath of Pie: Island, Fieldmist Borderpost, Dream Thrush, Infiltrator il-Kor
Double discard gets the job done. WW
6-0
7. H: Swamp, Divest, Duty-Bound Dead, Fourth Bridge Prowler
OTP: Double discard takes Divest and Dead, Prowler on its own doesn't beat the Zombie. W
OTD: Divest takes away my Kobold, removing my ability to double discard and have a threat. EDIT: As Reeplcheep pointed out though, I win the race because I make a 2/2 first, an if you chump you only attack back for 1. W
6-0
8. maxx!: Remote Farm, Kor Skyfisher, Kor Skyfisher, Journey to Nowhere
Even with double discard, you're able to create a 2/3 on your turn 2, meaning the worst you can ever do is draw. I think you always win the race though as I'm never able to attack first into the 2/3.
0-6
9. FTW: Saprazzan Skerry, Phantasmal Terrain, Phantasmal Bear, Martyr of Frost
You are always able to keep land and a 2/2, and whoever loses the race stops attacking. DD
2-2
10. silkster: Swamp, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Culling the Weak, Canker Abomination
Ah, the Kobold mirror! OTP double discard prevents your Kobold shenanigans. OTD you sacrifice your Kobolds for profit first. WL
3-3
11. Tylert: Plains, Akrasan squire, Akrasan squire, Sacred cat
Double discard means you only ever have 1 threat. I *think* the Squire is better because it can always force a draw (me blocking with the Zombie) because you play your threat before I make the Zombie. I don't see any better line that doesn't result in a draw. EDIT - Emblaming the Cat means a 2/2 lifelinker, which I can never beat. LL
0-6

1. Asthereal (TO): Plains, Swamp, Caravan Escort, Final Payment
Unconditional removal. 0-6
2. Reeplcheep: Urza's Mine, Urza's Power Plant, Urza's Tower, Ruin Processor
Doing a boring deck. forgot post isnt in pauper because it is banned, not uncommon.
3. GoblinSmashmaster: Forest, Firewild Borderpost, Silhana Ledgewalker, Taste for Mayhem
You have a t6 goldfish. I have a t6 goldfish. Whoever is otp wins the race. 3-3
4. dte: Swiftwater Cliffs, Conjurer's Bauble, Stream of Thought, chain Lightning
The one thing my deck is good against is damage based removal. 6-0
5. alphastryk: Swamp, Crookshank Kobolds, Tendrils of Despair, Vile Rebirth
Discard 0-6
6. Wrath of Pie: Island, Fieldmist Borderpost, Dream Thrush, Infiltrator il-Kor
Your LD only works on t3 onwards. 3-3
7. H: Swamp, Divest, Duty-Bound Dead, Fourth Bridge Prowler
Discard 0-6
8. maxx!: Remote Farm, Kor Skyfisher, Kor Skyfisher, Journey to Nowhere
Unconditional removal 0-6
9. FTW: Saprazzan Skerry, Phantasmal Terrain, Phantasmal Bear, Martyr of Frost
LD 0-6
10. silkster: Swamp, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Culling the Weak, Canker Abomination
Fast enough to block but never fast enough to race. 2-2
Edit: Re:silkster, I am fast enough to race OTP. 4-1
11. Tylert: Plains, Akrasan squire, Akrasan squire, Sacred cat
When I am OTD you beat me by half a turn. When I am OTP you have to chump starting on t8 which slows down your clock enough that i win on t11 at 1 life. 3-3
Low effort submission gets low effort points. Good to see 2 people jumping off my past brews. 17. Edit: 19
Last edited by Reeplcheep; 09-10-2020 at 08:10 PM.
Duty-Bound Dead has Exalted, which makes the Fourth Bridge Prowler into a 2/2 attacker.
This is a double loss.
Double discard means he keeps Squire and still gets to Embalm a Cat. The 2/2 lifelink trades with your zombie, then the Squire wins.
Expecting TylerT and dte to resubmit the same deck (which are both double loss) was the factor that tilted me to play LD over Tendrils, but it did well against everyone else!
