Disagreement. I think Rooster is right.
Going first is a huge advantage to both players, but Rooster can still stabilize after Goblin's big start.
When Rooster goes first, Rooster keeps the Monarch. On 2nd upkeep 4/4 Angel. Angels can just chump the Assassins, never losing Monarch. Runaway win.
When Goblin goes first, the 1st Assassin attacks once before Court makes tokens. Goblin steals the Monarch, Vraska grows the token (2/2) and makes a 2nd (1/1), then Rooster only gets a 1/1. The vertical growth Assassins are faster than Court's 1/1s (maybe why Goblin thought it was a win). But the flying Spirits can just kill Vraska to stop the growth, then steal back the Monarch and catch up.

For the turn 1 Court of Grace vs. turn 1 Garruk Relentless disagreement, I still don't see a way for me to win when I'm on the draw. For me to kill Garruk: on T1 maxx! gets a 2/2, on my T1 I get my enchantment. On T2 maxx! gets another 2/2 and attacks me and takes the monarch, so I'm at 18, on my turn I get a 1/1 token with flying. On T3 maxx! gets a third 2/2, and attacks me to 14. On my turn I attack Garruk to 2 loyalty and flip him, and get a second 1/1. On T4 maxx! gets a 1/1 with deathtouch and Garruk goes to 3 loyalty, and attacks me with the 3 2/2s putting me at 8 life. It is clear at this point that I can't kill Garruk quickly enough to stop maxx!'s token production and get the monarchy back for a full turn, so I lose. Is there a different line that I'm missing?

I think you're right. I didn't do the full math because I knew your flyers could kill Garruk, but 1/1 flyers that don't start showing up until your 2nd upkeep are a bit too slow. If you attack me to become the Monarch then I just take it back on my turn, and attacking Garruk isn't fast enough. 3-3 looks right.

If you do that, I can Sphere, and because I can make Sphere blow up the tokens on my turn after the Sarcomancy check happens, I win that race. WW

Me. I went back and forth on a lot of things but ultimately decided I wanted to make sure I could beat the Mana Vault decks. Needle and Sphere to clean up tokens seemed like it should handle those decks and the Lich's Mirror deck. Needle also incidentally beats the Barren Glory decks and some storage lands.

From there, whoever is losing the race can always trade Zombies to flip the race backwards to lifeless from Sarcomancy, so we stare. DD

I can only do 8 damage with my Zombie before then, and you can win with the Demon by attacking 4 times (I still need 4 attacks as well so I lose that race), so I jam Needle for the draw. If you take Encroach or Funeral Charm, I can use the other to make you discard your second land. So you take Sarcomancy, and I take your other land, and we sit there doing nothing. 4-1

I had a hard time deciding between Encroach, Mana Vault, Force of Vigor, or Barren Glory. Looks like I had a good read on what the decks to play were, but didn't quite get the formula right to beat the field.
Sarcomancy is an upkeep trigger not an end-step trigger. That seems like it would favour the attacker in event of a tied life total, As the defender loses life first.
T1 R sarcomancy A sphere
T2 R attack A exile R20 A18
T3 R gets pinged, snare own sarcomancy A sarcomancy R19 A18
T4 R sarcomancy A passes since a trade would kill him first. He would attack if he was ahead or tied.
T5 R can attack due to not being behind on life.
Otp and OTD are the same since A can’t initiate.
A can play sarcomancy on t2 into void snare, but that is a worse situation than trading.

If alphastryk never attacks with the 2/2, it can block and kill 1 Goblin per turn forever. Attrition can't kill black creatures.

I'm really sad that I lose to Barren Glory, cause I thought that deck was unplayable here, losing to so many things. Of course, if a deck is "unplayable", then playing a deck that beats it is no priority, so maybe people move away to what beats those decks, as I did. Well played.
I should have realized that last round would be all turn 1 decks, and I had the perfect answer but I didn't realize it. This round was really hard for me cause I had a bunch of good ideas but no idea what people would play. I always feel especially awkward when my own deck doesn't get banned and then it looks like it should be really good the next round, but of course people might plan specifically to beat it and I just hate that awkward feeling. When I noticed that I could play a very similar version to FTW's deck last time, I went for it. It turns out that Encroach was already a 1-mana discard spell that didn't require setup. I'm glad that Rhonas's Last Stand has had its... last stand!
