We're going for number four!
Dibbs on Rochester. At least I know it will boost my rating. I went to a tiny little event over there, went 4-0, and gained almost 50 ratings points.
Can I stay with somebody?![]()
Survival is allowed to get away with 61. Also, It's better than a fucking 59-card deck. amiright?Maybe if you stop running 61-card decks.
Maybe.
Theres a boy I know at my local school. He wins all of his games against common friends. At his local store where his friends play, he beats them there. They use DCI sanctioned rules and enjoy tournaments. He has a high rank, because he is best.
Aka, Location is huge. I remember playing against some kid from Rochester, and he just didn't attack me for 4 turns, with 9 power on the board and me with an empty one. He gave me enough time to find Survival and win.
If your not talking shit you should be pm'ing.
Now playing real formats.
I really wish I could help you out man, you did give me sandwiches at gencon, but I'll be heading to Oswego after the tournament to hang out with the girlfriend. This is a week before I leave.
Who doesn't think I'm going to win this thing yet again? And by win I mean split in the top 2 and go home early.
Maybe I'm missing your whole point, but don't you have to actually win matches to have a high rating? To become a better magic player, I would figure that you play formats that Wizards actually supports.
This is just my opinion, but I believe standard is the most skill intensive format in magic.

This is touching base on the whole issue over rating and skills. I agree rating does show some of your buff, but like troopatroop said, location is HUGE. I have the pleasure of playing at Millenium Games and Hobbies in Rochester, which is well, full of complete scrubs minus a select handfull of us. Only about 2 out of the 5 rounds do I actually have to "play" real magic. The other matches are fetching in response to a Stone Rain targeting my Polluted Delta and laughing. Anyways, all I'm saying is it is def. much harder to keep a competitive rating playing in VA or Syracuse every week than playing weekly at Millenium Games and Hobbies.
Therefore, rating doesn't prove everything.
