First Big Legacy Event at Melee! 02/24/08

    • What: Melee's first large legacy format event. More to come in the future. This event will hopefully help us to finally get our older singles going.
    • Where: 408 W. Main St. Brighton, MI 48116
    • When: 02/24/08 Sunday at noon. Registration starts at 11 AM. Sorry if Sunday is a problem for some people. We need all hands on deck for this event so we needed a day where both the owners were available to be on site.
    • Entry: $20
    • Prize: 1st will receive 4x the one and only Tarmo-frickin-goyf. 2nd - 4th will get store credit. 5th-8th will most likely get something. Depending on attendance will determine whether it is store credit or maybe something else.

The store phone is 8102293300 if you have any questions. Pre-registration is not available for this event unfortunatly but we can seat close to 50 without a problem so I don't see there being any conflicts.

As for parking, we are right on the street in downtown Brighton so you will have to pass us on the right and turn right at the next street to get behind to a parking lot and come in from there. Again, any questions just call.

Finally, and this is big...If you place 1st or 2nd at this event, you will receive a first round bye at our March:

    LEGACY BETA MOX RUBY EVENT!!!
Date is still TBD but the entry will be $25 and the card is in very fine condition.

    Hope to see everyone there!

P.S. Don't forget our regular weekly events including $10 drafts on Tuesdays at 5, $5 Legacy on Wednesdays also at 5, and good ol' FNM at 6.

P.S.S. We have singles from the T2 legal sets. If you are interested in a specific card from those sets you can call and inquire about it at any time and we will hold it till the event if you need.

Glad to hear that we will now effectively have a monthly tournament between Brighton and Flint. Both are an hour away, but it's worth the trip for Legacy Thanks, Melee.

There should be 3 of us coming - not for the prizes (why would someone who wants 4xGoyf so badly enter a tournament without them in the first place?), but for the format and the players.

How many people have been showing up to your Wednesday event? If you are consistently getting 8, I might consider driving out one night... but 2 hours + the tournament duration could be a deal-breaker when school is the next day.

Last night we got 11 and a lot of the regulars were not there. I'd say we consistantly get like 10-12 on wednesdays but we could get upward of like 15-16 some weeks. You should make the trip sometime. Its good fun.

I went to the last one and there was a good full house of Legacy players with good trade stuff. We played 4 rounds, but my first round against fully pimped out 5 color Survival was worth my entry fee. Game one went 35min, I lost. Game two went twelve minutes, I won. Needless to say, we went to time and had to draw but that game one was a back and forth battle worth remembering.

Everybody there was really cool...except for me. I kept finding ways to pick on people I barely know...especially the guy whose breath was backfiring on him. He said it smelled like condoms.

Only 3 days till goyf-tastic goodness. I can't wait to see how this could affect the jet tourny on march 1st in flint. Perfect practice if you come out. Plus I will be posting the top 8 results. Any questions call 8102293300.

Fully pimped!?! As in foil survivals?!?! I need to meet this man, and he shall have my children.

I told my mom the tournament was in Brighton, and she is convinced that's in a different continent.

Long story short, I guess we're not coming.

I will most likely be in attendance.

On that subject, what's the expected attendance? Also, is this sanctioned?

Hmmm, I don't remember if the Survivals were foil. I was trying to examine all the beta duals and Arabian CoB's but all the glare on my glasses from the foil everything was making it difficult to see.

Sorry we couldn't come, the mother put the kibosh on the road trip. It'd be interesting to know the Top 8, still.

It's too bad that you couldn't make it. The turny was a bit underpopulated, with a total of 10 people.

The meta was a strange one with 2 Enchantresses and 4 thresh decks with white in them.

So because of attendance, it was four rounds of swiss then cut to top 4.

    Top 4 Round 1
Paul N. (W/B Splash Threshold) vs. Vuk (Cephaild Breakfast)
Josh Bettens (me) (White Splash Threshold) vs. Chris Watson (Enchantress)

    Paul vs. Josh
Top 2 split for 2 Goyfs and 10 each.

As for deck lists, Kc should be posting them soon.

Hopefully more will be showing up for the Beta Mox Turny. Which Kc will be announcing the date for very soon!!!
