Hey, I was playing around with the Wizards.com Gatherer and I found some nifty things you can do to help find something you're looking for. I don't know if we have a list of these kind of things elsewhere, but I figured it would be helpful to start one if we didn't.
Mana Symbols - If you want to look up "Addto your mana pool" you would have to put "Add ob to your mana pool" I'm not sure why it's that way, but all the mana symbols are:
ob =
ow =
or =
ou =
og =
Also, you can put o2 to look for.
ot = Tap symbol
oq = Untap symbol
"%" - This character works like a "yada yada" symbol. Ever want to look for "Whenever ~something~ is put into a graveyard" but don't care what the something is? Just tell it to look up "Whenever % is put into a graveyard." It's not just a separate item lookup though, it keeps things in the order you have them, just with whatever in between. And you can use the % multiple times.
I hope this helps, but knowing the people here, there's probably a list of these somewhere on here already.
If there isn't, just reply with other tricks you know and I'll keep adding them to this post so they're easy to find.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone found this useful?

Me.
"Want all, lose all."
I haven't heard of these. Good to know.
By the way, the best resource for searching for cards is Datatog on IRC (EFNet, #themanadrain among others).
SummenSaugen: well, I use Chaos Orb, Animate Artifact, and Dance of Many to make the table we're playing on my chaos orb token
SummenSaugen: then I flip it over and crush my opponent
I found that the best Gatherer trick is to just use MagicCards.info.
Team Info-Ninjas: Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

I've been trying, but I can't seem to find out how to search for thetype symbols. Any ideas?

Quick question about magiccards.info (slightly off topic) :
Can I search for just creature types? When I type i.e. Goblin in the search field, it only searches for cards with Goblin in their text box. I.e. piledriver or matron. Not Mons' Goblin Raiders for instance. Can anyone help me out?![]()
