Triple blue wouldn't make it good in Stax, though. Besides, it doesn't exactly work with the Tezzeret win anyway since it nerfs your creatures too.

Maybe MUC with Oona as the win, but I doubt that would be good.

I am often fascinated by how the smallest things in Magic can make or break a card. Look at this one:

Legendary Creature - Human Rogue
{W}{U}, {T}: Put a Bribery counter on target creature you don't control. Its controller draws a card.
A creature with a Bribery counter on it cannot attack or block.

It's not a word, not even a punctuation mark, it's a freaking line break that makes this unplayable. Leave the last ability alongside the first, and you get a Grey Ogre with "UW, T: Turn target creature into a random card", which is interesting and possibly playable. However, as printed, it reads instead "UW, T: Opponent draws a card, then kills me" - ew.

Target opponent reveal cards from the top of his/her library until a creature card has been revealed. Put all non-creature cards revealed this way into that player's graveyard, then put the creature card into play under your control.

Yes it's worse than bribery, but then take into acount that

1) it's an instant one mana combo against combo decks since none of them run creatures.

2) Against TA it rips their deck apart since they only run 8 creatures or so and you get a goyf or a stalker out of the process

I can definatly see this in sideboards just for the extreme combo hate...

They could rename that card 'Goyf Angling". It seems much better suited to dealing with Aggro-control decks which tend to run a smaller number of high quality creatures. I wonder if it's vintage playable since it's an almost-kill vs. creatureless decks.

In vintage it's a kill or it steal a colossus (or that blue creature that bounce when you play spell, the actual win condition of oath). It's a super bomb, and could be even restricted in that format. Don't know though, as i don't play that format.

There are so many more broken things you could do in Vintage with 5 mana. Completely milling TPS with one card seems cute though. Probably tech SB material at best.

You may pay 1 life and remove a blue card in your hand from the game rather than pay Force of Will's mana cost.

Happens to be quite effective and you don't need 5 mana to play it.


Also: If this would really see play combo players would board 1-off Phage and laugh their asses off when you cast Telemin Performance on them ;-)

Depending on what you're playing, some combo decks will board in Dark Confidants against you. I wouldn't mind losing a few spells off the top if it gets me a free Bob and threshold for Cabal Ritual.

I kind of like the Keredkt Parasite or whatever it is called that causes a damage whenever an opponent draws a card. It may not live for long, but it will probably do enough damage in most cases to make its one mana casting cost worth it. There is a lot of draw in this format, so it seems like a neat potential dork for some decks to try out.
