    The most efficient beaters- TMEB

    Hi everybody,
I was thinking on a deck that can use the most efficient beaters and some pump.
As efficent beaters i understand creatures like:

    Viashino Slaughtermaster
    Boros Swiftblade
    Manaplasm
    cold eyed selkie

This creatures become monsters when you pump them and connect because they can kill opponent in a second.

Because of that creatures i would like to play blazing shoal (iīll ve playing gargadon too or natural order with progenitus) because it could be a party.

Can anybody help me to develop the deck?

The first list i though about was:

    -----creatures----
    Viashino Slaughtermaster (double strike)
    Boros Swiftblade (double strike)
    Manaplasm (pump forever)
    cold eyed selkie (draw forever)
greater gargadon (sacrify opponent dudes, discard with shoal, great)
valley rannet (fix mana, can be played with braid free and is useful to shoal)
Chartooth Cougar(fix mana, can be played with braid free and is useful to shoal)

    ----planeswalkers---
Sarkhan Vol (combo with gargadon and pump our critters)

    ----enchantments----
Braid of fire (because no manaburn this card provides you all mana you need to play instants as sorceryīs you know, but free)
fires of yavimaya (haste and +2/+2) is good.
Ghitu War Cry (aura that doesnīt enchant anything so it will be never a 2x1)

    ----instants------
    Brute force (red giant growth)
    blazing shoal (finisher)
Order/Chaos (removal plus opponent canīt prevent lethal damage. 7cc with shoal?)
    Colossal Might (+4/+2 ant temaple)
    Enrage
Fists of the Anvil (good i think +4 for doublestrikers, +6 for plasm , 5 cards with selkie)
Grab the Reins (kame.hame.ha to your face plus removal with gargadon)
    Mercadia's Downfall (non basic hate)
    Path of Anger's Flame ()
    Surge of Strength ()
    Trumpet Blast

    ----sorcerys------
    Reckless Charge(+3 and haste)

    Please, can anybody help me?

None of those creatures are even close to efficient.

Re: The most efficient beaters- TMEB

Well, i donīt know if efficient is the word to name them but think about it like creatures that make more for a little investment on them.

If you pump a selkie youīll draw 4 cards (if you pump it with shoal you can draw 10 cards ;) well i like it, itīs funny.

If you pump a double striker with shoal and itīs not blocke you are going to do lethal damage in only one strike. "0 damage for one swing i think is good.

If you play anything plasm is going to grow a lot.

Well al creatures are weak by themselves but think like an stompy deck with another kind of creatures. In a red based deck i think this situation is good enough to be played at least.

Yea, i know, if my creatures are sworded iīm going to lose 2 x1 or even more, but the deck is sooo funny (can win on turn 2).

i donīt know if using a green manabase could be better (iīm thinking on it) but i would like to play all this creatures so what can i do to play them?

Shoal is very attractive to me and itīs sinergy with the rest of the cards is awesome.

i know this deck is not going to be a tier 1, 2,3....100000000 but is a pet deck that is funny and can steal some games.

Please help me to develop/improve the deck. Any idea would be well received.

Extended had the Gaea's Might deck that tried to power out an early Boros Swiftblade then pump the heck out of it via Gaea's Might before the opponent could really deal with it.

In Legacy, you'd probably want Berserk with pumps since you're going all in on your double strikers anyways.

    Thanks Esper3k,
Iīve seen that deck, but i would like to try the deck with other cards. After little testing iīve decided to use another creatures (all doublestrikers i can think about) like:

    Viashino Slaughtermaster
    Boros Swiftblade
    Hearthfire Hobgoblin
    Skyhunter Skirmisher

and equipment like umezauaīs jitte, mask of memory and probably SOFI or another equipment card. Iīll be p`laying gargadon and shoal too.

Because of that, iīve decided to use a bicolor manabase (bye bye green :( ) so now iīm trying to develop a R_W deck. Iīm thinking on using mother of runes to prevent my dudes from being sworded and to make them connect.

    Any idea or suggestion?

Please, can you help me? If you donīt like the title of the post i can change it, but the most important thing on this post is not the title while the idea of the deck is.

I think doublestrikers creatures whith shoal, jitte, mask are good enough to be played. You can protect it with mother of runes or so and i think the deck could be good enough to compete. When i said that it was not a tier 1,2,3,... was because i know it is not a good deck yet, but i know it can be a good deck if i can improve it. So please, can anybody provide me any idea to develop the deck?

    The initial list is:

    4 plateau
    4 bloodstained mire
    4 ancient tomb
    4 mountains
    2 plains
    4 chrome mox
    4 Viashino Slaughtermaster
    4 Boros Swiftblade
    3 Hearthfire Hobgoblin
    3 Skyhunter Skirmisher
    3 umezauaīs jitte
    2 mask of memory
    4 mother of runes
    4 greater gargadon
    4 blazing shoal
    4 brute force
    4 flame javelin

    suggestions, ideas?

I highly doubt that this deck has a tournament future.

    1. Removal
You only thing close to removal is Flame Javelin, and by Legacy standarts its pretty bad. RRR for not taking down Tombstalker and Tarmo seems like a pretty bad deal to me.

    2. The rest sucks
You creatures (save the MoR) all suck by themselves. Yeah, it can be cool to deal 16+ dmg with a Swiftblade but thats the only thing the deck can do. Every usual Legacy beater just takes down your stuff in a normal battle.

    3. Weak spots
You deck just dies to too many things, Counters on you pump stuff, Stp/Burn in resp to a pump spell, Counter/Top lock.

If you want to make the most out of creatures that have synergy with pump spells you should invest cards that take care of opponents removal.

I suggest either going discard or going chalice.

Stopping STP should be a big priority for this deck.

    Just my 2 cents.

    What about this list?

    4 Plateau
    2 Sacred Foundry
    4 Wooded Foothills
    2 Bloodstained Mire
    4 Wasteland
    3 Ancient Tomb
    4 Chrome Mox

    4 Simian Spirit Guide/Desperate Ritual
    4 Boros Swiftblade
    3 Hearthfire Hobgoblin
    2 Nobilis of War
    3 Glory of Warfare
    3 Skyhunter Skrimisher
    4 Honor the Pure

    4 Path to Exile
    4 Lightning Helix
    4 Lightning Bolt
    2 Ajani Vengeant/Fireblast

It has a strong mix of removal and beaters, and it's Red and White with a bit of reach and removal.

Actually red is becoming a better color with all the weenie decks/zoo running around these days. But, that deck is bad. This is a better one, but still second tier at best.
    Lands
    4x Duals
    4xFetches
    4xPlains
    8x Mountain

    Creatures -18
4x Figure of Destiny <---- Slow and often boarded out but generally not bad and awesome versus control
4x Hellspark elemental <--- Could be replaced with something else but helps against counters and has good damage potential for a bad burn spell
4x Keldon Mauraders <--- often just chump blocks goyf but does 2 on its way out
3x Jotun Grunt <---- Hates on graves and beats for 4 keep the 4th in board
3x Hound of konda <--- Good board me out target

    Spells - 22
    4x Lightning bolt <-- Staple
4x Lightning helix <--- see above
4x Magma jet <-- Setting up draws is good and picks off things like bob and birds well could be replaced with a stronger burn spell
4x Path to exile <--- I like this card although it really sucks versus control can be used on a hellspark when its on its way out anyway to help get figure up to 8/8 though
3x Price of Progress <---- damage potential of this in the format is through the roof
3x Fireblast <--- avoids counterbalance and speeds up the clock important against combo which you will generally lose to anyway

Sideboard has alot of options after the one grunt gets put in I would look into a combination of Disenchant, Patricia's Scorn, Pithing needle ( vial, top, charbelcher, grindstone and cranial plate come to mind), Banefire, ohrim's chant, silence , cannonist , the last price of progress, smash to smithereens, shattering spree, and well alot of others could find a slot depends on your meta. I've tried this in small local tournaments if I remember right my sideboard was.

    1x Fireblast
    1x Price of progress
    1x Jotun grunt
    4x Shattering Spree
    4x Pithing needle
    4x Patricia's scorn

Yes I punted the combo matchup, I did beat ad naseum though .... Just hope to burn their face off fast or lose

AS much as it pains me to say it, Dreadnaught+stifle is alright.
Only because stifle can screw your opponent on its own though.

Iare, that's nothing but a bad Zoo without the essential green.

Well I never claimed it was great and the first upgrade it could do with is +green duals and + goyf. But, that goes for any deck not already running Green duals and Goyf. Boros = bad zoo = still better than jank +pump, and thats what I was trying to get through. It does have the bonus of not rolling to land hate or dieing to its own price of progress which I've seen do zoo do just to pull a draw.

Edit: Anything that punts the combo matchup should be considered casual. Yet zoo is a deck to beat :S

Re: The most efficient beaters- TMEB

i Was thinking now in a more burn-slight deck that can kill anybody before he breaths.

    I was thinking on playing

    4 spark elemental
    4 hellspark elemental
    4 grim lavamancer
    4 keldon marauders
    4 grater gargadon

    4 lightning bolt
    4 chain lightning
    4 fireblast
    4 reckless abandon
    4 price of progress
    4 blazing shoal

    18 mountains

This deck is ultra-fast so can win consistently on tun 2 --> 1 turn: land hellspark shoal with gargadon = 13 damage, second turn land lighning, fireblast or so.

Beside of that deck has lot of tricky plays like beat with sparks feed gargadon, reckless any spark after deal damage or even use fireblast to shoal.

Iīm liking it very much because creature removal is not an issue, we have blockers like marauders to gain some tempo and gargadon can be in play faster than never.

What do you think guys about this version=?

Re: The most efficient beaters- TMEB

Blazing shoal is bad ... Very bad.. Removal on your creature = giving your opponent a free 3 for 1. You really have no way to create pure card advantage to make up for it either. Yes you may get lucky but you will lose to some of the most commonly played cards in the format.

Re: The most efficient beaters- TMEB

YEah, itīs 3 x 1 if your dude is killed, but this is the glory of the risk. If i can beat you from 13 in first turn (before you can play a single land) and burn you out in second , WTF, it can be hilarious ;).

After that you can lavamancer, burn the opponent till he dies because you are playing lot of bombs ;).

I must try it, it can be very funny ;)
