I found this link which says they pulled a candelabra from a zendikar pack:
http://www.kidforcecollectibles.com/
It seems fake but would be cool if it was true.
Hahaha, if this is real, some little kid is going to pull a fucking Black Lotus and go "WTF, this is crap!" and use it as a coaster.
The MTGS forums are going berserk about this right now. I couldn't believe they'd do this, but every time we get some reasonably well-known person (Pat Chapin seems to be the most recent one) who talked to the store owner/kid/other kid who claims he pulled an ancestral recall, they come out saying it's legit.
Oh well, I'm writing a paper right now, and this is VASTLY more interesting than the effects of the peanut trade on 19th century West Africa. Guess I'll stay tuned and watch developments.
Well I guess that's one way to sell packs. And by sell packs I mean cause a vast shortage of product and spike the secondary market price of boosters yet again. Bravo, Wizards. Bravo.
If this is real, there's going to be a conversation that goes down along the lines of -
Player 1: "Wow you must be the stupidest player ever, why did you pass me foil fetchland at a FNM draft?"
Player 2: "Mox Sapphire."
Player 1: *awkward silence*
You know, Wizards putting a few moxes into a some boxes of Zendikar and publicising it could make them far more money than the cost of the moxes (because they wouldn't have to tell people how many there are).
That said this is 99% likely to be fake.
Come on, if you were a disgruntled Wizards employee who had the access to do so, you wouldn't sneak Moxes into product just to fuck with shit?
...
Actually, come to think of it, I wouldn't sneak Moxes into Zendikar packs. I'd sneak them into my pocket. Then I'd sneak that stupid littlefor a 1/1 goblin with a drawback in Mirrodin or Darksteel or whatever into Zendikar packs just to make everyone hate Magic. You know the one I mean. Can't remember its name. Or drawback exactly. And it's such a horrible card that I refuse to use gatherer to look it up and act like I know what I'm talking about.
EDIT: Or I'd make a pack with 15 Sorrow's Paths and a Beast Token.
They're trying to sell packs. It's either a lie, or they're opening packs, taking out the good rares, and repacking them with a few gimmicky old cards which will be almost entirely worthless as a "bonus".

It's bullshit.

I do find it funny the mtgsalvation people are up in arms about the Candelabra being sleeved. That card is like $50. I'm cheap; I'd probably sleeve it up right away too in order to keep it mint. I am skeptical but it is damn intriguing. Come on Beta Black Lotus...get there...
It's brilliant, is what it is. Even if it's fake, it will sell so many packs it's not even funny. I find it odd that this story broke two or three days ago now and WotC haven't made any kind of statement refuting this claim. But then again, would you, as a company, turn down free money?
Seriously, it's genius. When I saw this I was like "OMG PREORDER BOX NOW". But that's exactly what they want. Maybe it's Zendikar's "Priceless Treasures".
But it could be a hoax. I'd probably have to see it to believe it, or have Wizards release an article saying it. Or ya know, if enough people have it happen, I'd believe it.
Is it true, Patrick Chapin? Is it? haha. These rumors rule!
http://twitter.com/thepchapin/statuses/4361301845
Chapin and Evan erwin seem to believe this is legit and erwin's twitter mentions rumors of 'inserts' 3-4 weeks ago and they were only in the first distribution of zendikar.
I don't even know what to say about this. If this is true, I'm flabbergasted.
Wow this is almost as cool as the P9 being reprinted in 9th Edition.
MTGS != credible.
I take it back. It looks like a legitimate gimmick; they're boosting sales by randomly inserting valuable old cards in a few packs. It's a good sales gimmick, and it covers that whole "pleasing the Eternal crowd" angle they were talkinga bout earlier.
Also makes buying boxes seem a lot more worthwhile.

From my research this store with the candelabra is the only substantiated claim, but why should we believe it. I mean why does WotC even have to have a hand. It could just be an elaborate scheme by the store.
If this is true though I hope it does not continue. All it will due is devalue old cards. I mean now after m10 rules changes magic is basically a copy of WoW tcg and if they keep devaluing old cards I might as well just start playing another card game. WotC seems to be getting almost as greedy as UDE recently, but UDE is at least geared at competitive players not this kitchen table crap WotC loves. I'd rather play a game where rules changes make the game more competitive rather than more flavorful or easier to understand.
BTW if zendikar sells as well as it will everything will be worthless once it hits extended. Zendikar fetches will be like $5 at that point.
Seems like its time for you to switch games because it'll only continue to get easier to understand to get new people hooked to the game, so that the game doesn't fall off and die from the lack of product bought by the eternal community.
