    Uwr Fish!

I forgot why, but something made me remember a deck I posted a while back in a thread about Meekstone. The card is good and I figure it could work now with it stopping Wild Nacatl, Rhox War Monk, Clique, Goyf, Mongoose, Thoctar, Knight of the Reliquary, etc, etc. The card can have the deck built around it with pretty good cards so it doesn't effect you. Here is the list I am throwing out.

    4 Flooded Strand
    4 Scalding Tarn
    3 Tundra
    3 Volcanic Island
    2 Island
    1 Plains
    1 Mountain
    1 Academy Ruins

    3 Grim Lavamancer
    4 Serra Anvenger
    3 Trinker Mage
    4 Lightning Angel

    2 Meekstone
    1 Sensei's Divining Top
    1 EE

    4 Brainstorm
    2 Ponder

    4 Force of Will
    3 Spell Snare
    3 Daze

    4 Swords to Plowshares
    4 Lightning Bolt

    SB
    3 Pyroblast
    3 Firespout
    2 Disenchant/Dismantling Blow/Whatever
    3 Relic of Progenitus
    2 Tormod's Crypt
    2 Pithing Needle

Vigilance works well with Meekstone. Of course the deck isn't built around the 1cc artifact, but it can be a tool to fight some of the creatures running rampant through the format.

The mana base is 19 lands which is pretty decent. Every thing is pretty basic except for Academy Ruins. I figure it could be decent later in the game to draw it and recur EE or postboard artifacts. I might need to add Shackles to make this worth it though.

The creature base is built to get around Meekstone and also hurt other decks that can as well. Lavamancer can pick off weenies that are going crazy in this format. Serra Avenger is a decent, evasive beater that doesn't need to tap, same as Lightning Angel which is run for the same reason. Trinket Mage is a badass. The Wizard allows the deck to run a decent toolbox and good sideboard options.

The toolbox is pretty simple. I would love to expand it, but space is tight. 2 Meekstone because they are good enough to run more than one. I would love to bump this up as well, but again, space is tight. I like having more than one because I would hate to rely on Trinket Mage to get it. Engineered Explosives is just good. Sensei's Divining Top is also just good. I don't really feel the need for more.

The cantrips are standard, although the numbers may not be. I figured 4 Brainstorms are in and then add at least 2 Ponders.

Countermagic is also pretty standard. Spell Snare is good, but not really a four of right now since the targets for it are dwindling. Daze is definitely something I am on the fence about. I could cut it, add another Snare, and then two more Ponders, Shackles, more land, more Meeksonte and EE, or another creature.

I love the removal I have. I love Lightning Bolt being awesome at creature removal again, and I love it paired with Swords. Swords can hit the random big beater if I don't have the Meekstone and Bolt can pick off the Kird Apes, Goblins, Merfolk, Lavamancers, etc.

The deck looks decent. I really don't have the time to test this hard core or the money to put it together, but I hope others do. The list is totally to get ideas flowing and definitely not final.

    Thoughts?

Fire // Ice or some other kind of tapping effect would interact nicely with Meekstone. Of course, the flipside of so many more creatures being vulnerable to Meekstone these days is that that much fewer get killed by Fire.
SummenSaugen: well, I use Chaos Orb, Animate Artifact, and Dance of Many to make the table we're playing on my chaos orb token
SummenSaugen: then I flip it over and crush my opponent

    Re: Uwr Fish!

Just from a purely theoretical standpoint, Meekstone just turns their guys into Lightning Bolts, which isn't really a disaster for Zoo. Also, if they see Meekstone, they can intentionally keep Nacatl as 2/2 for a while, meaning it only hits Goyf and Knight in those matchups (and is thoroughly dodged or removed by Qasali Pridemage).

And in some matchups, it really doesn't do much of anything. Goblins, for instance. Or control. Or combo.

It seems like a reasonably focused hate card against Aggro/Control strategies like Tempo Thresh and Team America, where I'm guessing it would be very effective. That's cool, but it seems more like a primarily Trinket Mage hate target rather than a card you should base your deck around. Ask yourself honestly how many matchups you'd be happy to draw it against.

I wouldn't play Ponder if you don't run Tarmogoyf (or at least I'd think twice about any possible alternatives). Yeah, Ponder is pretty good, but it makes your opponent's Goyfs bigger much more consistently. Without Counterbalance to back it up, too, I don't really understand the inclusion.

I think you should go to 4 Trinket Mage, and add some 1-of "Oops, fuck your deck" cards (1 of Pithing Needle, 1 of Tormod's Crypt, maybe Chalice of the Void).
