There are drafts at Artifex on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Tournament was fun, prizes were generous. Turnout was 21 people, let's keep that going! The next couple tournaments being on Father's Day and July 4 weekend doesn't bode well, though.

    Nice to meet (M)Nemo, too!

Those are some pretty odd dates to be scheduling tournaments. I figure people will be busy those days. I know I will.

It was fun winning today though. :P

    Drafting is boring:

land land land land land land land land land land land land land land land Emrakul... Yeah... I win!

    But then that loses to

land land land land land land land land pathrazer of ulamog.

Even in t2, the backbreaking plays cost like 5.

Because Pathrazor will come out before Emrakul. Pathrazor costs 11 and Emrakul costs 15. Its pretty hard to cast your 15/15 dude when your lands are getting annihilated each turn.

Re: Weekly Legacy Tournaments in San Diego

    Anyways back to Legacy.

What is up I'm Sean J. and Nemo's friend ALex. I was the dude playing Blue Lands. 3-1-1 3rd. Not bad considering I had never played the deck. Wish I could of faded my rival Sean Wiglmiester!!!! I live to beat that guy in anything..hahaha. Anyways turnout was strong I'll keep coming if you all keep coming. Just keep me posted on the threads. We should move it to every other week but stagger it to be the 2nd and 4th week. Seems more logical. It lays on less holidays (noteably fathers day/4th July coming up) plus its the weekend where everyone gets paid *hint profit for Game Empire?.? I dunno just sayin.

Well whatever the case may be I know I will be coming with something new and spicy, you cant just run the same tech every tourney or else the format becomes meta hated and inbred. * for example everyone is prepared for high tide brainstorm madness next time etc...

Personally I would be down to change it to the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month just to keep a good turn out going considering the next two holidays and already a decent amount of the original 21 said they couldn't make it to at least one of those dates. I just don't want the next two tourneys to be weak and then people dont show up as much for the 4th tournament. not saying that will happen for sure But i'm gonna talk to shawna and kevin and see if we can just switch it to those days. for the most part everyone going to this is off the source or word of mouth which can easily be changed. if anyone has an opinion on the matter post up.

1st and 3rd Sundays are the best possible. Most major non-magic events tend to be on the last Sunday of each month as does the Knightware bi-monthly ones. This gives people an opportunity to get up there if they wish as well as regular scheduling for the store. Legacy tourneys are not for store profit, they are a favor to the players. People only play decks based on what they have or what they can borrow and will not spend $200 to buy 4-8 cards for a new deck. This is what killed the tourney last time: Player-induced stagnation- When the older players who have a large card pool and played many varied decks left and the ignorant kids we warned would kill the tourney by playing the same decks did so. Case in point two of them showed on Sunday with the same decks they played when the tourney died. The store will never focus on legacy again as there is no stability of new players and the cycle of life/death is not worth predicting or adapting to. The format is evolving to be that of Type 1 a decade ago where cost is beginning to exclude a great many people and will continue to do so where dual lands will become like Bazaar’s and Workshops. No matter what anyone says there are none, and never will be, any substitutes for fetchable duals with no penalty as long as the reserved list exists and I doubt they'll ever go over their power level (i.e. Super Tundra: Land- Island Plains: When Super Tundra enters the battlefield, gain 1 life)

Dude, me and Robert are the reason the tournament died? Really? Because we played good decks, the only ones we could afford, and played them to consistently be in the top 5? The young ignorant players played the same thing because they don't have lots of money to build up huge cardpools. I guess we could start playing worse decks than what we have but I don't understand how that would help the meta because it would be making it weaker. But, like always, you gotta be mad about something.

Anyways, it was fun playing with a lot of new people last Sunday. It was really cool playing new decks with new faces. I won't be able to make it for the next month cuz I'm working at the fair but I'll get back in it when I'm done. Thanks for brignin it back GE.

The store has seen Legacy tournaments rise and fall twice over the course of 10 years. After seeing the same preventable choices by players cause the tournament to collapse, based on the store's semi-competitive player base, we know what's going on. In an ideal world, a tournament would not fold based on what decks people play. In another ideal situation, people wouldn't play any deck other than what is in the Decks to Beat forum. This is not the case, people play what they want to play for various reasons and people choose not to play for various reasons. Game Empire's players get sick and tired of playing against the same decks over and over and over. History has shown this and that player induced stagnation kills the tournament so as a player who wants to play, all players have to be aware of that. The store is willing to dedicate time every other Sunday to see if the tourney gets off the ground again, but when constant signs of player induced stagnation (whether they can't afford anything else or chose not to play anything else) occur, the store will not waste it's time watching the tourney die again to preventable causes. It is in the player’s hands whether they want this tourney to thrive or wither like the last two times.

The next four events will be June 20th, July 4th, July 18th, and August 1st. These four tournaments (we understand they first two land on Fathers' Day and the 4th of July) will be critical as to whether or not the store choses to continue to support the emerging tournament both in player numbers, and decks played by individual players variety.

Bullshit! Matt told me you like to draft.

Also, this format is not about big monsters as much as it is about removal. The only big monsters people WANT to play is Pelakka Wurm and Artisan of Kozilek.

I'll try to make the next Legacy tournament. I hope people show up because I can't make it to too many tournaments. I'll try to bring in more people. I know David and Alfonso have decks. I can build one for Chipi. I also think Jorge will be in town and he might want to run his casual deck.

I'll probably show up for the father's day one, I generally see my family early and leave mid-afternoon so it should allow me enough time. So plan on at least 1 person being there.
