So one time on MWS, I played pithing needle and named Relic of Progentitus which was in play, and I needed that not to happen to me. So the next turn the guy pays one and activates relic's "crypt all graveyards" ability and I indicated to pithing needle. And he argued with me that because he paid one to activate Relic, that it was a "mana activated ability" and Pithing Needle didn't stop it. And he wouldn't budge on it so I'm like "Ugh, learn the rules" and left. Because screw that noise.
Another guy tried to get a land with Mystical tutor because it says "mana source" on the card and he wouldn't budge on the issue either. But that was IRL. IRL also does not have an idiot filter. And the worst thing about it was that his mystical tutor was a proxy written in sharpie on the back of a flooded strand.... LoL.
Ok... that's silly. I have seen proxies written on paper slipped over a duals but written on...
Why would he get a land with Mystical Tutor anyways?
I've noticed that there are a crap ton of people who can't seem to grasp the idea that mangara can be returned to your hand with karakas and still have the targeted permanent removed. It drives me crazy. I mean really have they even heard of how the stack works?
Happened on Cockatrice too. Playing against Affinity with Gate against a Sourcer, he sacced his board to put a boatload of counters on his Ether? Champion (the metalcraft pro-colors) and then attacks. Into my Vampire Nighthawk. Now, if he argued that he assumed I would concede at that point, that's fine, or if he said argh, screwed up the order, I would have agreed and given it to him, but instead he called me a n00b and quit.
Mangara on MWS? You must be masochistic.
One of the last nightmares happened on MWS: Opponent trying to Fire/ Ice my land in my turn, before the untap step.
Also, I wonder why when I write ''serious testing'' or ''testing for tournament'', people show up with some horrible homegrown aborts.

I haven't played on MWS in over a year, but when I do, I always ignore phases until someone tells me (or shows me) that they have effects. I'd think if someone casts ice during your untap step, they probably meant to do it during your upkeep, right? Isn't it not possible to cast anything during an untap step? That seems like a pretty minor complaint.
Also, some people like not playing netdecks. Just because someone is playing really weird cards doesn't mean they can't kick your ass with them. "Serious testing" isn't going to dissuade someone who really has faith in their homebrew. You should try "established archetypes only" or something.
When I used to play on MWS, I would get rage quits on my because I apprently play homebrew. It sucks when people go "WTF is that" and quit when I play Scrying Sheets. That land happens to be in Quinn, a not so popular but "established" Legacy deck.
LOL. siggggggggggeeed
I've stopped testing on MWS. I bet my old friend "Player: Left" misses me from my absence. I get more value testing against myself i.e. sleeving up 2 decks, and on each side play out the optimal route and see how the deck-of-interest does.
Regardless, I feel that goldfishing with responsible awareness beats MWS testing any day, unless you have privately-arranged matches with friends.
Decks that I care about:
Steel Stompy
UWx Landstill
Dreadstalker
DDFT (10% practice)

Why don't we assemble a team for testing? I'm growing rather tired of the lack of adequate testing I've had, and it would be good to get a solid - well rounded online team. I'm thinking we assemble a team of players with proficiencies with each of the DTB, and some of the popular "rogue" decks. I don't have MWS, but I'm willing to test on Cockatrice all day (I find it to be a much better program anyway).
Anybody else with me here?
Been tried. Just can't get enough people on at any one time to do real testing and just having a list isn't that effective. Who wants to spend 20 minutes looking for someone to play against? The [S] tag is probably the best thing I've seen so far.
You haven't lived until you've had someone use Lim-Dul's Vault as a five-card Brainstorm.
I'm not saying that we all have to be online at the same time, but if we had a few (that are actually determined to test) then we could get some real progress done. I've got a few good friends of mine (both are innovators and have topped more than a handful of high ranking tournaments) that might be willing to join the team.
IF anybody is interested, then shoot me a PM, and we'll discuss this issue further.
No, maybe you didn't understand. He knew the difference between Upkeep and Untap. He really wanted to do it before the untap step.Of course I pointed out that actually there aren't any phases before Untap. So I asked him : ''maybe here?'' clicking on the Upkeep step icon. But he answered: ''No,here.'' clicking on the Untap step.
I'd love to have a playtest group here on theSource.

Oh my God, I don't understand why are you playing with strangers on MWS, my grandma already knows it's useless. Come on, don't you know at least 8 o 10 people who play Magic? Can't you test with them using MWS? Getting into forums lets you meet a lot of people and make Internet friends. I'm sure you can find decent players here or in your local forums... Just be nice, post, make some friends and send some private messages, people here is pretty nice.
We tried to copy the Source, but then we realized we're spanish
If my post results dumb or offensive, it's probably just me miserably failing at being ironic in a foreign language
One time I was playing Dreadstill on MWS. On my 3rd turn, I cast Dreadnought and followed up with Stifle. My genius opponent proceeded to explain to me that Stifle has never and will never work with Dreadnought because the ability could not be Stifled.
Another time, my opponent cast Jackal Pup and I cast Lightning Bolt on it at his end step. He refused to take the 3 damage for some reason. I think he was foreign.
My favorite time was when I was playing Reanimator(pre-Mystical Tutor ban). I was on the draw after he Thoughtseized my Iona Turn 1. I play Underground Sea, Lotus Petal, Exhume. Iona comes into play and I name black. On his next turn, he plays Tidehollow Sculler and I try to explain that he cannot cast black spells until Iona has left play. He goes on a 5 minute rant about how all artifacts are colorless and how Reanimator is a "noob" deck.
I just had this one, I was amused more than anything else, especially since I just won a black lotus last month at Jupiter Games in Vestal NY...

How do some of these people even know how to install MWS?
One player thought that [card]Candelabra of Tawnos[/card] never tapped so he could tap his City of Traitors for infinite mana. I pasted the link to the magiccards.info page for the Candelabra, told him to look at the oracle text, and he said that there is no oracle text for the Candelabra.
I should probably add the [S] tag, the two players I've played that had that actually knew the rules, not to mention actually playing good decks. No, I don't want to play against your mill/artifact deck when the note says "serious."

It's really simple, MWS is a fantastic playtesting tool with friends. Play against randoms for the lulz only, and occasionally you can expect to face players who know the rules, or who play reasonably competitive decks, or who are nice guys. When the stars align and the angels sing, you'll get an opponent who is all three of those.
