    guiz,

    welcome to legacy post MM
I am convinced that WotC is "dumbing" the game because of all the stupid posts they come across on MTG-related forums

Additionally, he won't be downgraded by Humility. Not even one single bit.

And you can bluff you don't have the money to buy cursecatchers, so they'll think you don't run any cards above 0,50$ and then SNAP you counter their crucial spell with a dispersal shield and unleash the power!

Anyone thought about testing spellskite in place of kira?

No I havent bothered testing it. Kira is a decent evasive attacker, costs nothing for its ability to be used, and STOPS the attempted potentially harmful spell or ability as opposed to simply sacrificing itself for the greater good of the team for a price.

NO why the hell would anyone want to test that? Have you tested that or thought about it? That card is terrible

I am pretty sure people have been joking about the Merfolk of the Pearl Trident versus Cursecatcher argument, I figured I would just have my opinion heard. I like playing cards with relevant abilities versus cards with no abilities and just a mess of flavor text. So as for the argument that Mental Missteps will be used to counter our Cursecatchers and Aether Vials, I feel that this is a moot point. This is because we would be replacing a 1cc dude with another 1cc dude. They both can be taken out by MM. Furthermore, there are already free counter spells in the format; learn to play around them. If you decide to run subpar (like Merfolk of the Pearl Trident) cards then you are just asking to get stomped by more decks because you have reduced the threat density, overall quality, and adaptability of your own deck.

    @ landwalker000

See my above post and apply the same logic to Spellskite.

It has three advantages over kira. The first being that you can hold it in your hand and then vial it in in response to a spell and protect a lord. The second being just that it's cheaper. And lastly it can mess around with other spells too: like pump spells, abilities like mother of runes, and auras. Again these facts don't mean that spellskite is better then kira, probably not, but it just seemed like an interesting idea for some play testing.

Can't swing in, Kira has evasion and once Spellskite is on board it gets removed by a single spell where Kira would always take 2.

    Please no more bad suggestions.

Kira also generally beats for 4-6 damage.

You cannot vial in response to your opponents targetting something.

    Kira, Great Glass-Spinner

Well, you can vial it in response to something targeting a creature you control, but you won't get the 'counter' trigger. Kira must be in play before someone targets your creature in order for your creature to have the triggered ability which would actually trigger and then counter whatever targets it.

My question wasnt a trolling one.
Sure Manta Riders and Trickster are 1/1 creatures, too. But with a few lords in play, Raiders evasion can get some good dmg through defending blockers and Trickster has a good chance of becoming bigger, if you drop him early.

I dont have the time and enough Tierdecks on Cockatrice/RL to test this good enough.

I think the last few posts were in reference to vialing in Spellskite in response to removal to save your Merfolk. As far as I can tell, that works (as long as you can pay the Phyrexian mana and there's no restriction clause like on Go for the Throat or Red Elemental Blast).

    Pretty sure that is correct.

Yes, that does work. You can vial in Spellskite to do that.
