Can I join the Church of BC as well? +1 to report.
Decks that I care about:
Steel Stompy
UWx Landstill
Dreadstalker
DDFT (10% practice)
Mangara on MWS? You must be masochistic. -kiblast
I'll +1, would love to see a report.
All right, all this Cook dick sucking has to stop. He will either post a report, or he won't. A page of dick sucking is not okay.
That list with Abeyance and Daze seems really bad. The increased land count and shittier protection spells don't make it a new deck.
I'd have to agree. Daze will only slow down our ability to produce mana, and I want every land I can if merfolk will instinctually misstep my first ritual. Not to mention naturally drawing tundra has got to be the worst feeling in the world and your Ad Nausem is less reliable. I'd rather take the approach of overloading the 1 drop slot instead of weakening the deck and trying to skirt around it.

I was goldfishing and playing around a MM and a Force. That is about all this deck can do, throw in a Daze or a Wasteland on top of that, or extra copies of MM or Force, and this deck crumbles. I really like the Xantid Swarms, but if they ever get to use a removal spell on it, I will want to shoot myself.
Combo isn't dead. People run scared. I bet when the new limited information comes out, less than 1% of the metagame was TES/ANT as compared to the 4-6% we normally see. Misstep really doesn't change all that much at all for us. With zoo making a resurgence it almost feels like the 2 combo decks i play will do better, both TES and High tide.
I completely agree. Then again, to have daze, waste, mental misstep and force and a blue card in the first 10, without you having chants/duress etc on the first three turns seems unlikely. It does make us marginally worse, but it isn't the hoser everyone makes it out to be.
At least in my play since it's been legal.
I have been playing around w the protection spell slots and have really come to like: 4x Duress, 2x Swarm, 1x Thoughtseize. Makes boarding much easier and effective I think. Against aggro I get 6x Duress + 2 bounce spells and against blue I have the option of 9 protection spells + 2x Etw. I really just don't much like chants anymore. They were amazing a few years ago but discard and Swarm suit my meta a lot better. I'm not saying chants are bad at all, but with the ridiculous amount of Merfollk showing up I just like the Swarms.
In my round 2 match I won game 2 simply because I had Swarm and didn't have to spend mana on chant. At all times I just assume the deck is going to fail and I prefer Swarm because it is essentially a free protection spell on the combo turn that nearly forces your opponent to keep in StP over more counters or simply lose.
"I just shot Marvin in the face!"
"Why the fuck'd you do that??"
I always played with 14 lands.
The +1 land slot was dancing around, but lately I got convinced by cutting 1 chrommox (going to 3MD).
The reason why is that topdecking a chrome is almost NEVER what I want to see, and it's only really useful under ad nauseam.
The only thing that was boggling me about it is that with the deck going 3x main ETW post board (and I even see people going 4x) the fourth chrome could definitely help as 1of in the starting hand.
But topdecking a land is 90% of the times better than a chrome mox, in our bad matchups.
I agree on playing 3 Moxen. Drawing them in multiples pre-AdNausing sucks. lorddotm, if not replace the fourth Mox with a land, then what would you replace it with? Another cantrip, like Preordain, or another piece of protection?
Why the fuck is someone running Daze in a storm deck?
Duress, Thoughtseize, Silence/Chant. Use the proactive protection spells, not the reactive ones. The two former will let you know if you can go off or not, which is priceless. Silence/Chant forces them to counter or die if you plan to go off that turn.
lorddotm, is your Storm list somewhere in this thread? How do you deal with Wasteland / Daze / MMS / FoW / Cursecatcher from Merfolk? Seems rough but doable.
It is in the ANT thread, but since so many people seem to keep asking me for a list, I might write up a primer and post it.
I ignore Wasteland, taxing effects are funny when you have tons of lands and Cabal Rituals. MM+Force is still a bitch for that list.
I would just stick with 4 Moxen, sure it sucks to draw 2 or 3 at times, but having good Ad Nauseams and Diminishing Returns is extremely important. Also, can help dodge Misstep, so I will not be taking any out.
Daze is pretty ridiculous in storm if you need to deal with Counterbalance, Hate Bears, or are trying to do something on low mana very early. The Aggro side of Aggro Control, Counterbalance, and traditional Aggro basically have to walk their best spells into it and you get a lot from it. Add in that it's fine protecting your initial mana/discard you have a great spell. Is it the best if you've been optimizing for 7 turns and untap to try to storm 9 + tendrils a landstill deck? Obviously not, but it's pretty broken when you're countering hymn, counterbalance, and teeg and not bad when you grab a nacatl, steppe lynx, or tarmogoyf.
Also, I'm not endorsing that abortion of a list, just saying that Daze is fine in certain storm lists.

Been there, tried that, still casting Doomsday.
