    Spellskite for "target player"

Is spellskite able to redirect a spell such as Thoughtseize? Does this make any sense?

You can activate the ability - Spellskite can target any spell or ability, even spells and abilities without targets - but the ability won't do anything on resolution if the spell/ability can't target Spellskite, is already targeting Spellskite, or has no targets.
“It's possible. But it involves... {checks archives} Nature's Revolt, Opalescence, two Unstable Shapeshifters (one of which started as a Doppelganger), a Tide, an animated land, a creature with Fading, a Silver Wyvern, some way to get a creature into play in response to stuff, some way to get a land into play in response to stuff (a different land from the animated land), and one heck of a Rube Goldberg timing diagram.

    Re: Spellskite for "target player"

Sorry to hijack the thread. How does Spellskite interact with modal spells?

For instance, if I play a Red Elemental Blast targeting a spell on the stack, can my opponent redirect it to Spellskite as a Vindicate?

Or more in keeping with the "target player" theme of the thread, if Spellskite somehow gained flying, can Thunderbolt targeting opponent be redirected to Spellskite? And if so, would 4 damage be dealt to Spellskite?

You can't change the modes. You only get to change the target. For a red elemental blast originally targetting a blue spell, using spellskite would have no effect since you can only have it target another blue spell, and spellskite isn't a spell. (Also, spellskite isn't blue, so it's never a valid target for red elemental blast anyway.) You can't redirect a thunderbolt to spellskite if it was originally targetting a player for the same reason.

What about a Lightning Bolt targetting a player?

Choosing a player for "target creature or player" is not a mode - modes are uncommon, and indicated by "Choose one/two --". Spellskite is a legal target for "target creature or player".
