Umm... Necropotence and Yawgmoth's Bargain say Yes? Those cards are much more similar in function to Griz than Ad Nauseum. Permanents. Pay 1 life: Draw 1 card. That's Griz, only it's arguable that Griz is EASIER to get into play than Yawgmoth's Bargain ever was (Reanimate spells + Sneak Attack vs Academy Rector?)
I think the best way to cheat bargain are just accellerating into it with rituals or SnT. With rituals it's a spell that is comparable to Ad Nauseam that allow you to play Forces and 4 copies of the engine but cost 1 more and isn't instant (and has some extra vulnerability, like Revoker). With SnT it's Griselbrand 5-8.
Out of curiosity, is Imperial Seal the most expensive card not on the Reserved List or is there something else? The only competitor that springs to mind is Tarmogoyf, and that's a far cry from Imperial Seal's price tag.
This format will be hella boring without brainstorm lol. I think grisselmaister is off to bed, even though I bought a playset yesterday. I'll take the gamble.
I believe you might be off on your %. People would be very not happy if one of the best tutors in the format was $1000. A playset would cost more than a playset of power.
Yes, by a longshot, unless you are counting technicalities (like Summer edition Serendib Efreet is technically not on the reserved list).
To put it in perspective Seal is worth more than every piece of unlimited power except Lotus.
I think 2nd place might me Imperial Recruiter and 3rd maybe Grim Tutor.
big links in sigs are obnoxious -PR
Don't disrespect my dojo dude...
Sweep the leg!
Imperial recruiter, and Grim Tutor are both worth more than Mana Drain and far rarer. They are probably the next two I would think.
…no matter how much you think you love somebody, you’ll step back when the pool of their blood edges up too close.
I wonder how far Scavenging Ooze is gonna climb before it gets reprinted. It's a really cool and flavorful cards that could fit into a lot of sets.
The seven cardinal sins of Legacy:
1. Discuss the unbanning ofLand TaxEarthcraft.
2. Argue that banning Force of Will would make the format healthier.
3. Play Brainstorm without Fetchlands.
4. Stifle Standstill.
5. Think that Gaea's Blessing will make you Solidarity-proof.
6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).
Eh? I looked at several price places (e.g. findmagiccards.com, several online stores) and unless I missed something, all of them had only Timetwister Unlimited as costing less.
While admittedly it is a bit of an accomplishment to be worth more than any of the Power 9 (even in Unlimited form), I don't think it's accurate to say only Black Lotus is worth more.
Checking magiccardsmarket.eu it's definitely gonna cost you more than any of the Moxen. Also slightly more than blue Power. Which leaves us with Lotus as the only contestant.
However, it's really hard to compare since all available Imperial Seal are NM/Mint. Still, it was about as "cheap" as the NM Time Walk, but more expensive than the NM Ancestral Recall. Compared to Ex versions, Imperial Seal wins out against the Power8.
