Don't remind me. If that Dryad sees play it will kick RUG so hard in the balls. Little Mongoose and little Tarmo goes to the kindergarden...
Yeah, you could flash it back off of Past in Flames or Recoup...
It occurs to me that going off with a 'fork bomb' is possible if X=4 where the epic experiment keeps getting copied by cards like Increasing Vengeance,Twincast and Reverberate. Though I expect that would work much better in Modern.
Hell, Living End. Epic Experiment will even dump dudes in the yard for you.
Hhmm.. if you can stack your deck a la Lim-Dul's Vault you could also cantrip into a body for the Hypergenesis. LDV -> Epic Experiment with X=2 is 6 mana, and you might also be able to stack things with cards like Brainstorm...
Since Lim-Dul's Vault is an instant, you don't even have to do it all in the same turn ie, end of their turn, LDV, then cast Epic Experiment on your turn.
Detention Sphere seems like a nice O-ring variant. It doesn't cause the game-draw loop, but does remove the non-land permanent and all other permanents with that name. An O-ring with Maelstrom Pulse ability tacked on? Seems okay.

It's practically the same as O-Ring as far as Show and Tell concerned except it's pitches to Force of Will and is restrictive in any non-UW deck, but generally speaking, it's a new-and-improved O-Ring. I like it.
Whenever are we getting an artifact version of this or O-Ring, though?
Luck is a residue of design.

Expect me or die. I play SI.
The mtgsalvation link isn't working at the moment, so here's the image of the card for all to see:

Meh. I was hoping for something comparable to Abrupt Decay for U/R, but this isn't even on the level of Supreme Verdict.
Edit: Obligatory crappy black Mythic spoiled as well:
Necropolis Regent - 3BBB
Vampire (Mythic)
Flying
Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, put that many +1/+1 counters on it.
6/5
More EDH/Limited fodder.
I don't think you can Fork the already cast Epic Experiment, and getting enough mana to Fork your first Epic Experiment and still be able to cast it for a reasonable X value seems low.
Ascension would likely be the way to go, but being able to take advantage of Lotus Bloom and Ancestral Visions and the like seems fairly absurd.
EDIT: Derf, just Ancestral Visions. Still.

Also, it only allows you to cast instants and sorceries, so Lotus Bloom is out.
I love Counterflux and everything about it. I'm surprised but nevertheless pleased it has Overload. It's probably the strongest upgrade to Cancel that can possibly be printed while still being 3CC. Overload makes it way versatile against the Storm mechanic and Cascade even that it may make up for its restrictive mana cost. In Standard/Modern anyway.
In Legacy, Flusterstorm pretty much does whatever you want Counterflux to do even better since it's 3x faster. However, Standard and Modern's card pool has no access to Flusterstorm, so Counterflux is going to be the definitive catch-all counterspell in those formats.
And once again Wizards intrigues me for giving black and red only shitty junk cards while giving blue most of the decent cards....
All Blue cards have to live up to the AWESOME! keyword, ya know.
But it really is funny how so many Blue cards get pushed to at least a "near-playable" status in one or more formats while other colors often get total jank. For instance, look at Omniscience and then compare it to every big, splashy Enchantment of other colors. Blue's stuff always seems pushed a little harder.
Also I like Counterflux a lot. Just wish it was a harbinger of pure Red counters. That would give the color a shot in the arm.
