I am just not sold on the FTV foiling process. I avoid those at all costs.
The foil version is not always the pimp version...at least to me. Even if there is a foil version available, I am going to choose the pre 1995 version every time. I just love the look of a Beta STP and the Karakas from Legends. I understand I am never going to have a uniform deck, but not many do since there are no foil duals. So I mix it up by choosing the version that looks best to me.
You are foiling in an effort to pimp. By playing foils it means you don't mind them, or maybe even like them. However you can't afford the good version, but you still want to draw attention to yourself with the shiny shine. It's like spinning rims on a '98 Hyundai. Another favorite is foiled out decks (FNM typically) and revised Bayou.

I feel the personal preferences, but why the straight out bashing? Just seems like too much haterade to me.
Personally I don't care for the FTV foiling process. As for the foil Karakas they had the opportunity to make an awesome promo and they came up short, looks like it was copied and pasted out of Windows clipart, hell there isn't even flavor text. Just feels like a last minute idea to me.
It's all aesthetics in the end and really, you have no one to answer to but yourself, so just go with what makes you happy.
Just know that of course, what one may find attractive is not what the general community may like (this is pretty much everything in general, not just MTG cards).
Cataclysm isn't even a staple of the deck. All the staples can be had in foil. The same only goes for a handful of other decks (affinity, goblins, burn) , and all of them can be Modern-bordered even too except for port (That's actually my goal right now, so I'm praying to WotC to make it a judge promo).
What's the story on the altered corners of the 4x Karakas? Personal aesthetic preference or hiding damage on the cards?

I'm normally not a fan of owning altered cards, they were not damaged at all, but with the rest of the deck foil (and there for special in some way), I felt like the Karakas needed some loving. The Judge Karakas is down right Fugly to me, and so I figured a fairly basic alter would nice, give them some character without detracting from the card itself. Supreme-10 did the alters for me, he also made me a Cheatyface abacus.
Ah, makes sense. You win style points for not going with the Karakas judge foil. Whole deck looks sweet.

As mentioned by others, it's the FTV foiling process (hideous) and new promo starburst that are a huge turn off for all judge foils and cards w/ the big FNM foil stamp.

It's the pokemons ygo foil and hideous new art that combine to make promos look like boar tampons.
I was told this was a waste of perfectly good legacy staples ... but I've almost got it the way I want it (minus beta volcs which I'm not paying for).
I played this at the Atlanta Open and went 3-2 drop. Of course taking the 3rd win and then dropping.
