    Keranos, God of Storms

After seeing the new God Keranos, God of Storms, I think there is a lot of potential for decks in basically every major archetype. I think his ability to be a consistent source of removal and/or card advantage coupled with him being a relatively difficult to remove General, beg for him to be tested out. I think there is space to be explored for either Combo, Control, or Aggro slants on this deck. I am more interested in the control or combo versions. I will draft a list and post here soon. I am interested to see what others are thinking!

I really like the idea of a Keranos deck too - I've been kicking some ideas around in my head since he was spoiled, and I'm definitely hoping to pick one up once the set is released.

In my mind, there are a couple of obvious includes:

Thassa, God of the Sea gives you a little top of library control on upkeep, and also has a somewhat relevant ability if you're going to attack at any point during the game. She's also difficult to remove, and adds 1 to your devotion if you want to take the Keranos beatdown plan.

Sensei's Divining Top is already a format staple, but when you're trying to either draw extra cards or bolt someone/something, it's even better.

Scroll Rack and Soothsaying can set up your next several turns of draws/bolts, but I'm not sure they're really all that needed.

Dominus of Fealty is a pretty solid creature, and also turns Keranos on all by itself.

Mercurial Chemister seems like it could be decent too.

I like all of those ideas. Mercurial Chemister seems a little clunky even by EDH Standards. The drawing two is tempting but his small body and high cost seem a little less than stellar. I was kind of thinking about taking a control slant using red board wipes and blue mass bounce. I still don't have a full list... just kind of kicking ideas around.

Another thing I stumbled on was Repercussion and Furnace of Rath/Dictate of the Twin Gods. It's a little cute, but it essentially turns your non-land draws into Doom Blade + Lava Axe.

I would play this as a spell-heavy RU control shell.

Scrying, top deck tutors and library manipulation play well with Keranos. So does land thinning from your deck. And extra turns (extra turns = extra Keranos triggers and extra Planeswalker activations). And Repercussion/damage doublers. I added Stuffy Doll for lulz.

Casting Jokulhaups with Keranos, Darksteel Ingot, Stuffy Doll and a planeswalker out seems freaking amazing.

@FTW: That deck. So beautiful. The only thing I would change is adding a few more counters just to keep people honest. It's not like there is a dearth of playable counters, though that's just my own bias peeking through. Melek is also very good in spell-centric decks like this.

Just realized that Keranos triggers not at the beginning of your draw step but when you draw your first card EACH turn.

    Seems amazing with stuff like:
    Consecrated Sphinx
    Rhystic Study
    Mind's Eye

OMG, so much draw and so much win.

Unfortunately it's the first card you draw on each of YOUR turns

You had me really excited for a second there

Actually a bit more than lava axe :) Keranos would do 3 dmg to creature so critter takes 6. That damage is then doubled when dealt to the player for a total of 12.

    Read the card.
Not each turn, each of your turns.

Haha that's what I thought originally. Then, for some reason, I re-read it at 3 AM post-drinks, was too lazy to read the second line of text, and just saw that it triggered when you draw the first card on "each"

    This seems a streamlined version.
