Between increased interest in Legacy due to vintage masters and the upcoming modern ptqs, paper card prices are going to increase a lot
I do not want to put down $300+ for wastelands on MODO, so that limits my online deck options. I imagine many other players will have the same problem as well
If the set isn't incredibly fun to draft I would imagine much bigger problems than 100$ wastes. If it is fun and enough people want power, then the old barriers to entry to legacy are going to be 5$ cards. Wasteland on the other hand, well, if it isn't already out of control it's going to be.
Do I really have to link every price increase every time when the best source for tracking (online) prices is mtgGoldfish?

That said, Fetchlands in general are on the rise currently on MODO. If anyone plans to buy in when Vintage Masters is released, I would try to get the needed fetches asap before it gets out of hand.
I swear, everytime I ready a price here, my brain automatically links those to the bb/foil versions of the cards discussed.

since Modo is included in the discussion, i for one wanted to buy in the Legacy format online since the scene is dead here in HK.
most people said it's better for me to wait until Vintage Masters is released since prices will drop by then.
question is, how significant will the decrease be?
is it around 20% or so?
did this happen during the other releases done like duals?
It's not that simple.
When a set like this is released, it pushes people into a format (in this case it pushes people to vintage, but also people to legacy, as many of the cards printed are also played in this format), and the average demand of cards rises.
For the cards that are being reprinted the cards usually go down, as long as they are not mythic and played as playsets. The problem are the cards that are not being reprinted, and that are format staples. In this case, I think that wastelands and fetchlands will go up in price, as will be wanted by more players.
So my advice is that if you really want to get into legacy in the mol, now that the vintage masters set has been 100% revealed, buy the cards that you want to have that are not in VM (because they will probably get more expensive), and wait a few weeks until the set has been drafted to buy the cards that you want and are available in VM.
This
Fetchlands and Wasteland have already seen a significant increase in price. So I wouldn't wait too long if you plan to get some of those.
Stuff like Duals and FoW are rare and thus they should be pretty easy to get once VM is drafted for a while. Being paid out from Legacy and Vintage events should help with the supply as well. The price drop itself is hard to measure, since Vintage Masters is going to available for several months (unlike the two weeks of Modern Masters), being paid out from Eternal constructed events and several staple cards being rare instead of Mythic.
SCG now has Tabernacles priced the same as their Moxen. And they have sold out at that price. You would think the card was a 4-of in half the format. Who is buying at these prices?
"Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."
"Politicians are like diapers. They should be changed often and for the same reason."
"Governing is too important to be left to people as silly as politicians."
"Politicians were mostly people who'd had too little morals and ethics to stay lawyers."
Unfortunately, many of them are people who aren't using the card. Like this idiot who can't stop spending:

Shit man, student loans are why I'll probably never finish my playset of volcanic islands through purchasing
It's not the same price as the Moxen. Except for Mox Sapphire ($1299.99 for NM), the Moxen are $999.99 for NM, $899.99 for SP, and $799.99 for MP. Tabernacle at NM is $799.99. I guess a Near Mint Tabernacle is the same price as a Moderately Played Mox, but I wouldn't call that as them pricing the same.
The price is kinda crazy, but it's not quite at Mox level.
You can play Tabernacle in legacy you can't play a mox. So immediately there is a much larger player base demanding that card. It's a niche card but its effect is very powerful, one of the most powerful by far in legacy. It's also not replicated by anything else and has great synergies with other very important legacy cards. It's only been printed a couple of times and there aren't that many copies (relative to the number of players demanding it now). Plus it's cute. There's so much edh junk or non-proven cards like invoke prejudice or long ago good cards like grim tutor that have big prices, why not tabernacle?
