Batterskull and SOFI are too much for Merfolk to handle. He makes the mistake of attacking with the True name in game 1, when he was better off using it as a wall for the Batterskull (this was before I equipped it with SOFI).
Round 4. UR Delver. Ben Rivello. Win 2-0.
I waste his lands in game 1....and I kill him with Hero of Bladehold. Yes, Hero of Bladehold. Dark Confidant was beginning to really hurt me but luckily I had a Cabal Therapy as a Sacrifice outlet.
Game 2 he mulls to 5... I think he's able to Cruise in one of the games but he was so far behind it didn't matter.
Round 5. Shardless BUG. Harry Corvese. Win 2-1.
I win game 1 despite facing 2 Tarmogoyfs since I had Lingering Souls and a hardcast Batterskull. Game 2, I am overwhelmed by Shardless Agents and Visions. Too much Card advantage. Game 3. On the play I keep a hand of STP, Mystic, Chrome Mox, Wasteland, Bob, Liliana and Batterskull. I cast the Mox imprinting STP, play wasteland and cast Mystic for Sword of Fire and Ice. On his turn he wastes my waste and passes. I topdeck.....the other Chrome Mox. Would have preferred another land but it will have to do. I cast the Mox, imprinting Liliana and Mystic vials in Batterskull. So at the end of my turn 2 I have in play 2 Chrome moxes, a Stoneforge Mystic, and a Batterskull and Harry has no permanents in play. He's able to eventually Pulse the Batterskull but I got in a few swings. He has a couple of Goyfs to stabilize against Bob and Deathrite but topdeck a Relic of Progenitus. So I cast Relic, drain for 2 with Deathrite, leaving Harry at 2 life and then crack the Relic. I swing with Bob so a Goyf is forced to chump block. He casts Night of Soul's Betrayal killing Bob. But it doesn't matter since I Vindicate the enchantment, so Deathrite can eat the Vindicate for the win.
Round 6. Daniel Hall. 12 post. Win 2-1.
Game 1. My hand is slow, Tabernacle of Pendrell Vale certainly doesn't help either. He's able to hardcast for Primeval Titan and gets Eye of Ugin and a Cloudpost. Gets Emrakul. Game ova.
Game 2 I mull to 4. Marsh Flats and 3 wastelands. I draw a Revoker, a Chains, a black source of mana and a Liliana in 4 consecutive turns. I'm able to win.
Game 3. Hero of Bladehold comes to the party and she's not alone. I Vindicate his only blue source, an island since Show and Tell is so scary (down to 2 lands after the stone rain). After the match he shows me the top 3 (which he knows because of top). double Brainstorm and Treasure Cruise.
Round 7. Jason Crist. UR Delver. Lose 2-0
His version seems to have more burn than traditional lists. he has Fire/Ice which is critical in game 1 since I have Batterskull out. Game 2, he's able to cruise Multiple times. GG.
Round 8. Christopher Leon. Infect. win 2-0
He has no blue sources of mana, I only see Inkmoth Nexus and Pendelhaven. I'm able to kill any threat and Hero of Bladehold does the rest. Game 2, he has to use Multiple Vines of Vastwood to save his Glistener Elf from dying. I'm hit for 6 infect but it could have been much worse. Lingering Souls performs mop up duty after Christopher's threats are gone.
Round 9. Woodrow Bogucki. Miracles. win 2-0.
He's flooded game 1 (5 lands, force, Supreme Verdict opening hand via Thoughtseize...i took the verdict and cast Mystic turn 2). And he's mana screwed Game 2. I waste a couple of lands but with top he you'd think he'd find more lands. Nope. This allows for me to not only have Hero of Bladehold but have her equipped with Batterskull and Sword of Fire and Ice. So that allows me to easily overpower his Batterskull. He had a plow but had used it earlier on my germ token before I could block his germ token.
Round 10. Clinton. 12 post. win 2-0
I cast Bob turn 1 in game 1. And bob gives me enough land destruction to get me there. Game 2 is much the same. Interesting to note both 12 post players name Liliana with pithing Needle. I guess it's because they can't get rid of her like most other decks (smaller creatures or burn).
Round 11. Russ. Burn. Win 2-1.
Games 1 and 2 aren't interesting. Mana screw either way.
Game 3 is. So he's on 2 lands and I know from a previous thoughtseize he has 2 Smash to Smithereens. I have 4 lands, 2 Mystics and 4 soul tokens. He knows I have a Batterskull and Jitte. I can't vial in stuff for it to get blown up since i don't have enough mana to vial in the skull and bounce in response to a smash. He isn't risking tapping out since the damage from the guys i have on board is adding up. He shows me what he had in hand. A Volcanic Fallout. Yikes. Dodged a bullet there.
Round 12. Bob Huang. RUW Mystic. lost 2-0
I cast a Hymn to tourach turn 1. Bob loses 2 treasure cruises. Damn. I can't create any pressure as plow and bolt take care of bob and mystic. Game 2. He cruises a couple of times and counters my relic so he can treasure Cruise. Also in game 2 he has the Counterbalance lock. Boo urns.
He asks me how many byes I had. LOL, I took it as "man your deck sucks, how did you make it this far?". After round 10, I was in 15th place and we played at table 7 in round 12. I wonder what he's going to say about me in his tournament report on Channelfireball.
Round 13. Eli Kassis. Grixis Pyromancer. Lost 2-0
I actually like this version over UR Delver as Cabal Therapy is insane with Pyromancer and Gitaxian Probe. I lose both games pretty handily. I have a slim glimmer of hope in game 2 against his Young Pyromancer and 3 or 4 tokens when I cast and flashback Lingering souls....only for him to topdeck Dread of Night. GG.
Round 14. Thomas Smart. Sneak/show. Won 2-0
My opening hand had a Bob, Shriekmaw and a Karakas. LOL. He probes turn 1 or so and sees the lucksack that I am. I try and cast Bob turn 2 but it gets Forced pitching Show and Tell. Well, now I know what he's on for sure. He does a lot of digging (ponder and Brainstorm, not Dig through time) and eventually is able to tap out for Sneak Attack. But it's too late since I have 2 Deathrites draining every instant and sorcery there is.
Game 2. he plays land and ponders. I play a thoughtseize and see 2 Blood Moons, Pyroclasm and a Brainstorm and some lands. I take the brainstorm. Cast Chrome mox imprinting Hymn and duress the Pyroclasm. He blood moons turn 3 but I already have Bob and deathrite out since I don't care for the most part. Again he's able to tap out for Sneak attack but I cast Containment Priest on my turn.
He asks me after how many goyfs I play. LOL. The answer is zero. He thought i played goyfs and therefore didn't put in more pyroclasms.
Round 15. Franklin Carroll. Bug Delver. Win 2-1
Game 1, I am mana screwed although it's in part to him stifling a couple of lands. Goyf and Delver take care of the rest.
Game 2. He has a True name Nemeis out but I have Full Voltron Assembled. SOFI, Jitte and Batterskull. Voltron wins.
Game 3. It's an attrition war. Creatures on either side don't live for very long. He floods out even counting that he cruises twice. I have a hardcast Batterskull and jitte than somehow don't get blown up to pieces and win.
Finished 12-3 for 45th. I was 11-3-1 at GP Washington for.....45th. Eerie huh? Can't get much more consistent than that.
-was able to have a first turn Chrome Mox about 6 times I think. Hymn once. Mystic once. Bob three times. And a Thoughtseize and Duress.
-Hero killed 4 people this time. Awesome. I played 2 Heroes at Washington and didn't see her once.
-the venue was nice. Vendor selection of cards was awesome. I now have 4 German FBB Scrublands. I was hoping to get a FBB Bayou but man they are super expensive.
-was hoping to get a feature match. I was paired at table 1 at one point. Brian Braun-Duin was at table 2 and called up to feature match. Dang. Was hoping to be on camera with Hero of Bladehold...or Shriekmaw
-speaking of which, got more strange looks from playing Shriekmaw than Hero.
All in all it was a fun ride again.

Congrats again man. I do like in game ones showing the single bayou so people think I might have green dudes or decays. That really fucks with people. Good to hear hero is awesome. I like chrome mox in theory, but I don't have the balls to actually do it... Hopefully Bob's tourney report actually talks about your match up. Yours was one of the few originalish decks at the top tables.
And casting a shriekmaw on cam is the actual best thing ever. Your opponents face when they look at the spell pierce and their hand and slowly put their goyf in the yard is great.
Also Congrats on the Scrubs. I think German Scrubs are my next project. Nedleeds had a good point about what is the point in having all foreign stuff if you still play with WB English duals.

It seems like Chrome Mox does a lot for you. I have to test it.
I also really love Hero of Bladehold at the moment. Seems very strong.

In terms of tweaking. More needs to be done to battle Cruise. My losses were to Cruise decks and because they Cruised. The crappy thing is, it seems that whatever your answer is....it's inferior to playing cruise. What that means exactly, I'm not sure. Deathrite and Relic were the most effective things to battle Cruise. I probably should have played another Persecution instead of 2 explosives...so I could put in Teeg in addition to the Relics and Chains.
Chrome Mox is awesome. It's card disadvantage sure but the explosive starts are worth it. Despite what a couple of my friends think, Turn 1 Mystic is even more insane than turn 2 Mystic and worth it if you can do it. It really is. I've even cast Hero of Bladehold turn 2 with the help of Chrome Mox (and a Deathrite).
I've considered Brimaz. But Hero IMO is better.
-avoid Decay. Both are bolt proof, but she's immune to Abrupt Decay.
-Karakas. Sure I play one so I could save Brimaz, but more likely someone is going to have a Karakas to make sure Brimaz doesn't connect.
-Clock. Hero causes 7 damage on the first swing. 11 on the 2nd. That's usually a 2 turn clock. Brimaz has vigilance and that's relevant but he can't kill as quickly. And also, if I have other creatures out with Hero it's insane. At my GPT trial I had 4 Lingering soul tokens out with Hero already vs UR Delver's Young Pyromancer and Swiftspear. Pre-combat I cast Zealous Persecution...GG, I swing for 20. Lingering soul tokens were 3/2 each. That's about as close to a Delver that you will see me play.
round ten you definitely caught me with my pants down, i was not expecting to run into a deck like this. i didnt think id see any liliana decks day 2. i had cut down on needles and cut khalni garden and oracle from my deck the night before
It sounds like Liliana did very little work for you. Would you consider cutting her (or moving her to the sideboard)? Same with Shriekmaw...

Well I think it's a correct assumption that there would be less Liliana and discard decks running around. Treasure Cruise has really hit attrition style decks hard. Really hard.
Having said that, people in Legacy really like their pet decks and I'm among them. Sure, I'll try and change some things here and there depending on the meta but I'm going to be Deadguy 99% of the time.
Shriekmaw's fine. I never cast it for 5 but it did it's job killing Delver, Glistener Elf, Goyf etc. As for Liliana, don't know. The thing I loved about this deck is the matchup it had against most Blue decks, in particular Delver decks. Before Cruise, I was probably at least 60/40 in my favour maybe even better. After it's slightly in their favour.
Stupid that they would print a card like that, one mana draw 3 geez. There weren't many cruises in top 8 of the GP either though. 10 or so? So I'm not sure they are going to ban it come January.

The report made me nostalgic for Magic the way it is supposed to be played. You could have written this in 1994 and it would have sounded the same with just the card names being different. Kudos for playing a strong list that wasn't playing it safe at all angles the way the blue shell does.
