Been playtesting this deck alot on Cockatrice lately and it works great: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/26-01-15-ur-delver/
That new 4/5 black delve creature is very irritating, thought.
so I went back to my TNN-stifle-wasteland plan... covered with grim lavamancers...
maybe dig through time can be an option, but just in case of maximum two in a deck...
Has anyone been having success since the ban of TC? I'm just curious if this deck still works as I hardly see it locally anymore.
Here is a stifle/wasteland build I'm working on. Any suggestions?
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/30-01-15-ur-delver2/
well, I am running quite similar list..
just instead of snapcasters I am running TNN.. I can see your point though. TNN is easiest winning condition in this deck.... and in a lot of matchups you need to come up with gamechanger. Countermagic and removal is not everything.
I woul consider to get rid of the main deck spellsnare....and put one more spell pierce.
Maybe chain lightning is better than forked bolt?
my list is here:
21 lands - 3 volcanic, 2 mountain, 2 island, 4 wasteland, the rest consist of fetchlands
4delver
4TNN
2grim lavamancer
2DTT
3chain lightnin
4bolts
4stifle
4 ponder and brainstorm
4 daze
4fow
I do have only 3 volcanic islands so... Maybe Ill cut onne mountain
alson thinking about cutting chains in favor to spell pierce and\or forked bolt
suggestions of yours?
Hey guys,
I've tried a list like this, very similar to RUG Delver some time ago. I felt like it was a bad version of RUG Delver with it's reactive plan of the mana denial from pierce/stifle/wasteland.
Still, maybe it was my lack of experience playing a reactive type of game, as I was used to play UR Burn Delver. Still, I'm looking forward to see your results with this decklist!
------------------------------
Well, today i played on small tournament... from my point of view Pyromancer is dead... at least in my list.... he is almost useless without main deck probes....
snapcaster will do I guess
so maybe
- 3 young pyromancers
- 2 DTT
plus 1 lavamaner
plus 3 burn
What do you think?
Im cutting out all Yp in the deck. Card is dead without tc
I went to a small tournament here im brazil with the following list:
Creatures:
4 delver of secrets
4 goblin guide
1 snapcaster mage
2 eidolon of the great revel
2 grim lavamancer
spells
2 pyroblast
3 spell pierce
3 force of will
4 lightening bolt
3 gitaxian probe
4 chain lightening
2 price of progress
1 fireblast
1 fire/ice
1 dig throw time
4 brainstorm
3 ponder
lands
3 volcanic island
4 scalding tarn
3 arid mesa
2 moutain
1 island
3 misty rainforest
Side:
2 pithing needle
3 lava spile
2 searing blood
2 grafingers cage
1 surgical extraction
1 force of will
2 smash to smitheres
1 mind harness ( good against the undead goyfs)
1 spell pierce
went 4-0-1 with this deck...I think the list is really sharp.
Any suggestions of changing ? thx !
I laso do think that pyromancer is almost dead... but can not think of adequate creature option...
here is list from this weekends SCG legacy in Indy....
too bad that first UR Delver finnished 107th......
http://sales.starcitygames.com//deck...p?DeckID=79354
it runs 4 pyromancers tho....
I also felt that pyromancer is pretty bad. I ran a URbg Burn Delver list this weekend (kinda awkward, actually) in a small tournament, and got 2/1/1. Pyromancer felt pretty bad, as there wasn't enough fuel to get to more spells while he was out there:
This is the list I played (but is really faaaaar from optimal before someone says anything):
CREATURES
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Deathrite Shaman
4 Young Pyromancer
COUNTER/DISRUPTION
3 Force of Will
4 Cabal Therapy
CANTRIP
4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
4 Gitaxian Probe
BURN
2 Price of Progress
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Chain Lightning
1 Thunderous Wrath
LANDS
3 Volcanic Island
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Island
1 Mountain
2 Bloodstained Mire
3 Polluted Delta
1 Badlands
1 Underground
1 Underground
1 Tropical
SIDEBOARD
2 Duress
3 Spell Pierce
1 Force of Will
3 Destructive Revelry
2 Ensnaring Bridge
2 Pithing Needle
1 Price of Progress
1 Grim Lavamancer
Yes, I was feeling like there would be a lot of combo decks in the tournament (and actually there wasn't). My thoughts about running this list was that UR Delver felt pretty good in my meta last year (when only 15-20% of the field was combo, and the rest was Delver/D&T/Miracles/BUG/etc), and that the field nowadays was full of combo also.
I know this list doesn't fit in the UR Delver section, but I think it helps us having a glimpse of alternatives. I personally wouldn't repeat this list myself, as I found myself searching for non-basics more than I wish I had (due to 8 cards on the MB and 2 on SB), and also had to search for green sometimes to get destructive revelry online.
The black splash for DRS and SB disruption seems pretty solid though. DRS is amazing, as a color fixer, ramper and late-game burner. Tropical Island sounded really awkward most times I drew it, as it was a wasteable island that hurt me when I "PoPed". I would actually run it on the SB for the DRS activation against grave-based decks.
Cabal Therapy is great, but when I didn't have gitaxian and/or pyromancer it was just awkward to be missing targets. Tempo strategies can't afford card disadvantage, so I would only run it on the SB, against combo strategies. Also, it made me fetch a lot for underground sea/badlands.
Destructive Revelry sounded good when I thought about it, but it's not that reliable to play it in a 4color deck where there's only 1 green mana source, in a field that's full of wasteland again. Also I wouldn't be willing to play more than 1 green source as the deck is still a UR Burn Delver deck.
Even though it's a 3 color deck, PoP still sounds amazing as we are usually the offensive deck in aggro matchups (and combos usually dont care about our life). Still I would play more on the SB.
To people who are interested in the splash, the next time I play this deck I will make some changes:
*Tropical on the SB for reasons above mentioned;
*No more badlands as it starts to sounds kinda bad with fewer black cards;
*No more Destructive Revelry (maybe 2x smash to smithereens to play around chalice and equipments) as 1 green source can't be reliable;
*No more cabal therapy (Duress surely hits things, and without the therapy/pyro sinergy I think it's not that strong)
*4 duress on the SB
*4th force to the main;
*Change Pyromancers for Snapcasters - Snapcasters are pitch for FoW, assured card advantage (where pyromancer may be removed before having some extra value) - better for a burn approach;
*With only the Snapcaster set in the MB there's still room for graveyard-based cards. I'm still not sure if will run 1/2 Lavamancer or 1/2 Dig Through time - I won't play more than this as DTT+Snapcaster means there will be 6 cards that have value only after T3/T4 (and this in a fast deck as UR Delver is really bad), besides their lack of sinergy.
There will be some more adjustments, but these are the main ones. The deck will be stronger G1 against fair decks, and the deck may be more prepared against combo for G2/G3.
About the lack of results in UR Delver lists, it sounds good for the few ones that will play the deck as people won't be overloading in UR hate SB/decks - and I feel that it will be as good as it was last year.
To those playing with a black splash. Have you guys considered throwing Tasigur in there?
I think he would be a great addition now that TC is gone. Pretty much be URb Tarmogoyf.
Also, anyone having luck with just swapping TC with DTT? I really miss TC and getting almost desperate enough to try using visions of beyond or something of that sort.
I've been playing 2 DTT in UWR delver and it has actually been pretty good. It's usually a blue hymn to tourach but sometimes more especially with the killer sideboard UWR brings.
I was thinking of porting a similar build to UR. Run something like 2 TNN and a Jitte in the main. These would be your go to DTT bombs and Jitte would be pretty good with YP still too. Also could try Tasigur in the mix as another bullet.
I'm not really sure if tasigur is better than casting DTT, as they both compete for the Delve slots.
Hasn't tested DTT yet, but it sounds good to have at least 2 in the MB, mostly if you run high impact cards such as SCM and Price of Progress.
I think if you want to try TNN and Jitte, UWr delver would be a better deck to suit it. Not only that TNN and Jitte are worse in UR Delver, but also I think in general UWr Delver > UR Delver with TNN and Jitte. UR Delver is great at killing enemies fast, and TNN isn't really a fast clock. Still, I think it may be better for longer games, where UR Delver tends to lose gas after the first few turns (just so that you can walk through opponent's critters and hit the last few hit points) - but not really sure if it's worth it. I really don't think its a better MB creature for this deck than Delver/DRS/SCM/Swiftspear/Lavamancer.
My new decklist ... need some more testing but it has response to almost every deck:
LANDS
4 wasteland
4 volcanic island
1 mountain
1 island
fetches
CREATURES
4 True-name nemesis
4 Delver
3 Grim Lavamancer
1 Vendilion Clique
Spells
4 Brainstorm
4 FoW
4 Daze
4 Ponder
4 Bolts
4 Stifle
3 Spell Pierce
2 Fire/Ice
Any suggestions?
You mean like this?

The "UR Burn " deck in 8th place is the same list. Basically just -4 Cruise -2 basic land +2 underground sea +2 DTT +2 Tasigur from the pre-ban deck. Instead of casting Cruise to draw cards, you get a 4/5 recursion engine. Doesn't sound all that bad to me.
I am playing with this deck:
[deck="New Burn"]
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Chain Lightning
4 Price of Progress
3 Thunderous Wrath
4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
4 Goblin Guide
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Monastery Swiftspear
3 Snapcaster Mage
3 Force of Will
2 Spell Pierce
3 Volcanic Island
2 Island
2 Mountain
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Arid Mesa
1 Bloodstained Mire
1 Wooded Foothills
1 Flooded Strand
1 Polluted Delta
1 Misty Rainforest
//Sideboard
SB: 2 Sulfuric Vortex
SB: 2 Smash to Smithereens
SB: 2 Skullcrack
SB: 2 Echoing Truth
SB: 2 Pithing Needle
SB: 2 Grafdigger's Cage
SB: 1 Red Elemental Blast
SB: 1 Pyroblast
SB: 1 Force of Will
[/deck]
Starting to see UR Delver decks show up in MTGO DE results again. Usually, 2x DTT and other counter or burn spell in place of TC. These decks tend to keep 4x Cabal Therapy in the board and run 1 or 2 USeas in the 60 in place of basic lands.

Here is also a old school burn centric list with guides instead of swiftspears. http://www.tcdecks.net/deck.php?id=15987&iddeck=119207
Hey guys, this is my current list, it's pretty much Mathew Chungs from the latest scg tournament:
Creatures (12)
4x Delver
3x YP
3x Swiftspear
2x tasigur
Instants (17)
4x Brainstorm
3x FOW
3x Daze
2x DTT
4x Lightning Bolt
1x PoP
sorceries (11)
4x Gitaxian Probe
4x Ponder
2x forked bolt
1x chain lightning
Planeswalkers (2)
2x Dack Fayden
Lands(18)
4x volcanic
3x Underground sea
4x scalding tarn
4x polluted delta
1x bloodstained mire
1x island
1x mountain
SB (15)
3x cabal therapy
1x flusterstorm
2x pyroblast
1x red elem blast
2x cage
2x smash to smithereeens
2x vortex
1x fow
1x thoughtseize
I basically cut 1 fow 1 daze for dack which i really like so far. 18 lands for tasigur who really is the allstar providing us a solid beater as well as a cardadvantage engine. Im thinking about 2 maindeck lavamancers to get rid of 'bad' graveyard stuff like daze or fow in case thats still in it as i activate tasigur
Thoughts?
