Ulamog is super redundant, IMO. You already have Repeal, you already have Eldrazi, and you have planeswalkers. I very much doubt any deck would be able to come up with a comprehensive way of stopping all of those. I just went infinite this past week with no Repeal against a "burn" player who ran Ensnaring Bridge main. Even with absolutely no way to get rid of the bridge in the main deck, Emrakul still lets you take all of the turns, and I pinged him out with Ugin. I may put Repeal back, but with Ugin, there's even less of a reason for Ulamog to be there.
Yes, you probably need Candelabra if you're running a Cloudpost deck.
went 3-0-1 in a weekly with a stock list. 3 EE main, no needles, no show and tells.
Drew, and then lost in the games played against Tim Harding with an intriguing build that I'll let him determine how much gets spoiled of. Needless to say I'll be keeping an eye out for his progress.
Played a small tournament yesterday, 5 rounds. Went 3-2:
White Stax 2:1
UR Delver 1:2
BURG Delver 2:1
Merfolk 2:1
MUD 0:2
1st game against White Stax was insane, opponent cast all 4 Armageddon...
Round 2 I took mulligans down to 5 in 2 games, really bad.
MUD seems to be unbeatable to me. 2nd game I start with Glimmerpost plus Needle naming Wasteland. Opponent plays Ancient Tomb + Chalice @1. I play Cloudpost, go. Opponent plays Wasteland and cast Metal Worker. On my turn I decide to play Tropical and Krosan Grip on the Worker. Opponent plays another 2 mana land and nothing special. I resolve SNT with Emrakul and Titan in Hand. Fearing Karn, I put in Titan, getting me 2 Cloudposts. Opponent cast Karn, eating Titan... Next turn he exiles the Needle and double wastes both Cloudposts, followed by Golem beatdown.
Ugin won 2 or 3 games for me and is really a huge improvement. Repeals will definitely stay in my builds as well.
Love this list, card for card. Congrats to him! Wonder if a tourney report will show up..

Lost in top8 at a win a Tabernacle this weekend, still end up with a Taiga.
Round 1: Shardless Bug 2-1 (The winner of the tabernacle!)
Round 2: Deathblade 2-0
Round 3: Storm 1-2
Round 4: Lands 2-0
Round 5: ID with landstill
Top 8: Burn 0-2
Highlight was ultimating ugin against lands...glacial chasm kept them alive. In top8, burn was on the play, curved out perfectly and I tripped up on lands. Lost second game to 2x price of progress and ended up spinning top to see all lands multiple times. Lol.
Ullamog solves some situations.
And one fluster may be to have an edge vs storm and so. Because 4 sensei and shuffle effects could make you find it and hide it easy.
I've been playing this for a while now, with a pretty excellent win percentage:
4 Cloudpost
4 Glimmer Post
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Hickory Woodlot
2 Cavern of Souls
2 Misty Rainforest
2 Forest
1 Dryad Arbor
1 Glacial Chasm
1 Eye of Ugin
1 Karakas
4 Mox Diamond
3 Phyrexian Revoker
2 Oracle of Mul-Daya
1 Titania, Protector of Argoth
3 Primeval Titan
1 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
2 Crucible of Worlds
2 Sylvan Library
3 Moment's Peace
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Trinisphere
4 Green Sun's Zenith
[SB]
1 Karakas
1 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Mindbreak Trap
1 Reclamation Sage
1 Gaddock Teeg
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
4 Krosan Grip
4 Faerie Macabre
Concept is pretty simple, run out our favorite 1 card combo Titan, or GSZ-Titan, while gumming up their plan with Chalice/Trinisphere/Moment's Peace. Land base featuring All-Star Hickory Woodlot alongside posts/Ancient Tomb and Mox Diamond make for extremely common T3 Titans. When the opponent is fumbling to deal with the previously cast Chalices and Spheres, this often resolves. If not, then the follow-up GSZ does.
Further this build addresses major issues with other decks which depend on this "shell":
Mono Red Sneak: No Engine, needs 2 Card combo. -- Post is a 1 card combo that is also the engine! With GSZ engine is redundant and flexible.
White Stax: Heavy lock but can't close the game reliably. -- Post is a very sure way to end the game. Lock them up for a little while then race way ahead with the Titan and March towards eldeazi.
Fae: Redundant, but not powerful enough, no engine. -- Same as Red Sneak.
MUD. Same issue with Engine.
It's a little crazy, but if you look close you can see the very strong lines and surprising redundancy. I'd love feedback :)
General question: is Moment's peace alone plenty to beat a flipped delver? Seems like a strong list, but I'd probably miss the versatility provided by blue.
Could you be a bit more specific on what problems it solves over the U/G list (and at what cost?). I assume you're stronger against Storm pre-board?
Sylvan Plug big brother :D
I like the idea. Why not playing a stompy shell with lock pieces and a strong end game.
What are your difficult MUs ??
Suggestions:
1) With your land recursion I would play "Constant Mist" over "Moment's peace". It synergizes perfectly with Titania & crucible and can even be insane while recurring glimmer...
2) You are cold to "ensnaring bridge" without any sort of "catch all" MD. Maybe replacing Kozilek by Ulamog could also be an option ? Or anything else.
3) Some lands looks appealing with your list (Wasteland, Cabal pit, Urborg as ones-of).
4) Have you considered splashing for black ? It would give you access to a lot of interesting cards.
I agree, it's going to be either Ulamog or Ugin MD at least MD. Often things like that I'm expecting out of the board, but I agree MD it's needed.
I'll definitely test Constant mists!
And yes, I meant to say Plug/Angel/Goblin and Fae Stompy all have the same issue with disrupting the early game, but never really running away with it.
Being on the draw against lands and Thoughsieze has proven difficult. Sneak MU is worse than in UG/Needle. But the trade off is better Storm and Elves, which I think is a fine trade. Everything else is pretty similar to regular post. MUD is still awful.
For moments peace, yes that's a main attraction to it. Just early threats. It's also a great card against BUG. Plus, something needs to replace repeal </3.
TBH, it's not necessarily a fix over UG post (those on here know I'm usually orthodox UG Needles and co.), and I'm nearly full time post. But I felt Trinisphere is very underplayed, and that truly requires warping - away from UG 1 cmc instants, sadly. Some things it does certainly do better is Storm, and Bug - by playing very well off of the top. Another advantage is that it is FAST, while not being a glass cannon, which is a whole new appeal that post hasn't had. I guess it'd be better labeled " turbo Titan".
Other pros include: Chalice, GSZ=0=llanowar, GG from only 1 land, early mana ramp, proactive disruption. Huge bonus is that their removal is usually turned off for at least some portion of the game, allowing oracle to go unchecked.
Chasm, Titania, Crucible is nice. Titans coming out t3 is almost as good as crop, in most cases. So many 2, 2+ tappers make wasteland less crippling.
Still got a lot to try, but it's a nice change up lol
i lost in the quarters to the storm player i beat in the swiss, except with one change. I wrote down red elemental blast in my SB instead of blue, probably something to due with when me and my friend were filling them out he kept going on about his ugly white boardered one. so i started down one game against storm going into a g2 im not allowed to sideboard, talk about nightmare scenario. no surprise i had a quick exit in top 8.
my list is pretty much the same thing i had been running since before TC was printed. there should be another scg top 16 somewhere for comparison.
r 1 infect 2-0
r 2 mudpost 2-0
r 3 DnT 2-1 cataclsym, nuff said
r 4 DnT 2-1
r 5 uwr delver 2-1, lost game one by playing around wasteland instead of double bolt
r 6 Ant 2-1
r 7 miracles 2-0
r 8 food chain ID
7-0-1, had some luck throughout the day, no B/g decks is one part, only 4 wasteland decks of out 8. EE was insane all day, plenty of 3 for ones. moments peace pulled its weight as well, cavern obviously shines in blue matches. Ulamog>>>>>>>>>>> kozileck all day, and yes 1 flusterstorm to at least have chance against storm, it can also catch entreats. our car was 2/3 on top eight, so was a pretty good day
Essential in a few tough MUs for sure. Same reason you'd choose them over needle in other builds: Hate on Liliana, Sneak Attack and Griz, while having some game against elves and LED. Everything else is bonus. That being said: Wurmcoil is a good call and I'll try it out, it will be good to get some additional tutorable life gain. Plus with Woodlot, 6 drops are cheap.
Yes this is the sad reality of Trinisphere: No body can have nice things :/. Chasm still works after Titan, and macabre covers bog' role. But weakening your own toolbox in hopes of destroying theirs is okay.
Post in general gets a lot of its strength from the fact that it isn't playing regular magic, so this idea is just a step further in that direction.
garden is mainly for the b/u decks, or liliana. which i didnt see all day. i actually never even played the land once the entire day. i liked the list, the only thing i would change is make the relic a third Snt
i wanted to give ugin a try but just cant really justify him. spending that much mana with no cavern protection or eldrazi effect, it just seem like to big a liability
Hey all, so I'm interested in getting into this deck and making it my go to, but I with the last 10-15 pages or so, the deck obviously has many forms and directions
I know there's the usual suspects of posts and primetimes, but beyond that it seems like a lot of the lists are drastically varied between 1, 2, 3 color. With/without Ugin, etc.
I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed by all the crazy variants I'm seeing, and it's hard for me to settle on a starting point for myself, can somebody provide a couple of the 'tried and true' (UG needle?) decklists, just so I can have a good starting/reference point, so at least I have 75 cards I can proxy and test? :) [sorry if my search-fu is poor and couldn't find a stock list]
I guess, in summary: What's the 'starter' version of this deck?
