He explained why he prefers Chinese cards, but not why Simplified over Traditional. I guess it's because its easier to understand for him, but I'm curious if it's for other reasons, like finding it more beautiful, or because there are more cards in Simplified than Traditional Chinese, so he can complete his decks, or because Simplified is less rare, etc. I asked for some reason.
Hey guys,
I got a first world problem here, I am foiling my deck and I love foreign(Koreanor Japanese) cards, however I don't think I can live with mismatched languages in a deck... how the heck can I work around this!!!!!
S-Chinese vs. T-Chinese is "tough". Old, super bold, blocky T-Chinese I like a lot, but it faded off at Odyssey. Meanwhile, bold, scripty S-Chinese looked good from Prophecy, and then started looking like crap at Fifth Dawn (but Urza's Saga depends - if it has flavor text you still get a bit of the good font).
The latest hunt for Vintage S-Chinese cards has been brutal for me. Think I'm up to a 5 Ichorids, 4 Duplicants and 3 Petrified Fields in T-Chinese.
Anyways, I'm toying with taking Dredge to Vegas for the hell of it (and I'm too much of a coward to travel with Power when I have trips on either side). Hopefully some rarely-opened foreign binder has my Ichorids, Duplicants and Petrified Fields.
On the other hand, I finally got around to completing the Korean portion of Shops...

Languages and dates for every set. For all you true pimps.
German goes a little deeper than Japanese because you get Alice. Italian Legends are hideous and ghetto but Italian goes a couple sets deeper than German (Dark and Legends).
Old bordered Korean || Beta >
Old bordered German >
New Bordered Russian >
New Bordered German (Coldsnap / Kamigawa / Mirrodin)
Signed. Double signed if possible. I also like T-Chinese in Old Border if it can't be Koreeened (Legacy, Destiny, Masques). Sometimes I just get Koreeeeeeeen in addition to Russian for new stuff because sometimes I like that Koreeeeeeeeeeeeen feel for Vintage.
Edit: Like Magic the language game is exception based. If the name is more amusing in some language it can supersede the rules.
Im considering going all japanese in my pimped out lands deck.
That would mean swapping these:
3 Korean smokestack = Jap
2 Korean manabond = Jap
4 Korean Exploration = Jap
4 Korean Mox Diamond = Jap
And potentially:
4 foil wasteland (the good old kind) = Jap wasteland.
That way everything is either japanese or old original printing in english only (Alpha, Legends)
Any thoughts? It would cheapen my deck sure, but might be prettier?

Man this is up to you, i think pimping is not all about having the most expensive deck, is more about playing with the cards you like.
For example i got foil japanese Conspiracy's Brainstorms because i just prefer the artwork.
And umh, in your case i would definitely go for a japanese only deck![]()

Thanks for input guys.
I do also run judge intuitions and not japanese ones. I must confess I like the foil there.
