My ebay sales history has some dark times from my sellout in 2009. I'm also not the biggest value saver.

    Playset of LEDs? $92
    Playset of FoW? $70
    Playset of Wastes? $55
Picking up a NM Bayou for $10 in 2005, and then trading it for a Bitterblossom right as Faeries was big?
Selling that entire Faeries deck for $200 after giving up on Standard in 2008 for Legacy?

Sold a foil Collected Company on eBay for about $10 after fees.

Traded a Scalding Tarn for a Creeping Tar Pit right as Zendikar block was rotating from Standard.

The 2nd trade went from very bad to not THAT bad during some points in the last few years.

Once traded a foil Deathrite Shaman for a temple garden. This was definitely before he saw much legacy play, but it was a terrible feeling nonetheless. Once passed a foil abrupt decay to make my draft deck better. Won the draft, but that foil decay would have been sweet to have. I think as a child I traded a show and tell in a stack of bulk rares for 1 single Masticore.

Ah, the irony. Had you realized that sooner you wouldn't be posting here.

A related and anecdotal story about ripping a foil Polluted Delta. I was 15(?) and in one of my first FNM drafts. I was old enough and attentive enough to understand that some cards were very valuable, but not wise enough to understand why or how. Anyhow, I remember this guy in another pod got passed a foil Delta in his first pack and he jumped out of his seat screaming. He was so excited about it, but obviously it made the kid who opened it feel bad hard. Everyone stopped drafting for a minute or two just to let what happened settle in.

Just went to a random page in my eBay feedback. Sold an Aether Vial for 99 cents. Playset of Cliques for $25. I also remember buying several boxes of Unhinged for under $50 on eBay, which was cool because the lands were a dollar or two a piece. I don't remember how much I sold them for but they're around $10 apiece now on eBay, with the couple foils I got in each box being worth around $40. Fuck me.

Playset of Show and Tells to some idiotic crap that got reprinted too.
    These came to mind first.

And of course all those buys from some new set when you think some card will rise in price. :D
There have been some horror ones. 4x miracle time walk for 60 or something. I dont even remember the name..
Ah yes, Temporal Mastery, the card that fooled many of Legacy's smartest people.

Sold 2x NM English Chains of Mephistopheles for $80 total exactly one week before that dude played it in his board when TC was hot and they went up to $250 each. I wanted to hurt something.... My Unl Lotus sold for $1010 o. eBay the day before SCG raised their prices that night to $3,999. Again hurting things came to mind. Sold my Foil Emrakul on eBay for $30 a month before it skyrocketed to $150. Ok.....I'm done with this.....there is more but I've lost my taste for telling any more stories...

If it's any consolation, I lost to a Vraska a few weeks ago. Still have yet to lose to a Misty Rainforest or a Scalding Tarn.

I regret dipping into my casual Reanimator deck (Hell's Caretaker and Rukh Egg!) and selling my playset of Bazaar of Baghdad when that card was making waves in Type 1.5. I believed that it would be banned, so I had a friend who was going to a PTQ sell them for me. I got $120 for the playset. I was correct that the card was due for banning, but WOTC didn't follow past precedent and restrict the card in Vintage. And then the Dredge mechanic was printed, and people weren't just innocently returning Squee and Krovikan Horror for value anymore.

About 10 or 15 years ago I sold my power (including spare, and beta), all of my dual lands, my FoWs. I kept a shitty parfait deck.

It was the right choice at the time since I needed the money but holy shit was it expensive to get back into Vintage.

I cracked a foil Tarmogoyf when Future Sight first came out. I quickly traded it for two non-foil goyfs because I was in a hurry to get a set of four. At that time, goyf was not worth very much. Judging by SCG prices today, I traded away a $700 card for $400 in cards, coming out $300 behind. That's easily the worst trade I ever did.
I see more than others do because I know where to look.
