Its wise to board in a couple burn spells because thry might be bringing in pyromancer. So all you have to do is slaughter games their SnT before thry stick an omni. I board out 4 moons for two games and a 3 ball/thorn. Other stuff can come out for more relevant stuff, EE for a RiP, etc.

I also play MD gamble because i don't afraid of nothing

    Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter

Considering I play a somewhat atypical list, I board as such:

    +1 Containment Priest
    +1 Chain of Mephistopheles
    +1 Kolaghan's Command
    +2 Slaughter Games
    +1 Duergar Hedge-Mage
    +1 Tormod's Crypt
+1 Thorn of Amethyst (I really wish Thalia was an artifact or enchantment)
    +1 Ensnaring Bridge
    +1 Red Elemental Blast

    -3 Blood Moon
    -1 Goblin Welder
    -1 Imperial Recruiter
    -3 Grindstone
    -1 Lotus Petal
    -1 Spellskite

Keep in mind that I am currently playing bomberman combo in my main as well. So my general game plan is to go dork beatdown or bomberman combo FTW.

Also for the record, I do have a non-bomberman combo version built online and I'm playing the RIP/Helm combo in the SB of that, which would definitely come in. I actually think that combo might be strong again just because RIP is good against Cabal Therapy, Goyf, Deathrite, Mongoose, ALL delve cards (Dig, angler, Tasigur), as well as the decks STORM, Reanimator, Dredge, Lands, Oops all Spells, and a couple other Tier 2 and 2+ decks. It obviously just doesn't play well with welder or Salvagers. It's really a tough call though.

Generally, you'd board a number of those out when bringing rip in. Out with your moons and welder and in with slaughter games and rip/helm. You could also board out grindstone for other sideboard stuff

I've actually been boarding out my
Grindstones and just been trying to beat down while holding them at bay. It's been working decent. Not sure it's the best plan but I hate having to bring in rip/assembling three cards to try to combo them. Although rip is also good against dig

Yes, going for grindstone combo with 1-2 copies of RIP or crypt is tough. If I'm using the RIP/Helm combo I've learned to go all in with 4 RiP and 2 helm. In this case I will still keep 1-2 copies of grindstone in. Otherwise, if I'm playing with salvagers I will just try to assemble that or beat down with Canonist and other dorks.
I will say I'm a little surprised how often I win with salvagers. Most people don't even know the combo. As I mentioned before I'm also pleasantly surprised at how much faster the deck is with LED. I am now 50/50 if not better against burn. Salvagers ass is 4 too so he's a little harder to get rid of than painter. The other nice thing about LED is that people don't expect it. Thus, opponents are willing to let their defenses down a little more if they don't think you have the mana to both play and activate your combo the next turn.
I'm still struggling a little with the Miracles MU though. They have enough removal (especially wear/tear) that the MU can be tough. Anyone else have any "tech" to help with this MU?

    Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter

Played in a four round local today and probably would be 4-0 instead of 2-2. Played Grixis delver twice, esper mentor and ANT. I'm paying jacks list more or less with MD canonist and EE and 3 magma jet. Wanted to try burn bc of a creature based meta and it wasn't bad. I'm sure thus discussion has been hammered outso if anyone wants to discuss fiber points and theory them I'm game. I pointed game three against ant with a weak seven. Was an easy mull. And game three my last round against Grixis he's got answers and threats in multiples every turn. Got nut drawed. But kept an okay hand. Blood moon is gaining stock around here again. So im thinking about going back to mono red with bolts. The burn was good today but two mana is basically your turn. Just some thoughts. I'm sure everyone is going through the same more or less. Wonder when Hollywood I'd going to finish that report. ..

    Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter

I played at a small 4 rounds GPT for Seattle last night I think we had 10 players, since I don't play much paper magic now days I tend to play with whatever I have built, so my list is still Kitchen's from the premier IQ http://sales.starcitygames.com//deck...p?DeckID=82024 the one from the link is from when I played it at the Premier IQ in Richmond. Here is a little report from last night.

    Round 1 Maverick (1-0)

Game 1 He played a DRS turn one and I played a Blood moon on my turn one, he didn't really do a lot and I combo'd a few turns later.

I sided in Hedge-Mage probably for a REB.

Game 2 He played again a DRS and he also had 2 basics, I played a blood moon, the following turn I play a painter, he destroyed it with AD in response I use a pyroblast to destroy his basic forest, he is left with a DRS Savannah and plains. About 3 turns later I combo with Goblin Welder to protect against Swords to Plowshares.

Round 2 Mono red Goblins (1-1)

So I filled out my deck list while I was still at the bar next door to the shop and end up forgetting to write the lotus petals, I got a game loss for this round.

Game 1 I combo him fairly quick with the help of Goblin welder.

Game 2 I mull to 6 and keep a hand that had top and 2 lands, I can't find any action and Ensnaring bridge gets destroyed by tuk tuk scrapper.

Round 3 Bant splashing black (2-1)

These games were won by blood moon.

Game 1 I play welder turn 1 and then blood moon on turn 2, he scoops.

Game 2 Again I resolve a blood moon then combo him on the next turn without worrying about AD or Swords.

    Round 4 Burn (2-1-1)

I know this is one of the worst MU for this deck and wasn't looking for it.

Game 1 He taps out on turn 3 and I go for the combo knowing his only out would be fireblast, he doesn't have it.

Game 2 I get to resolve a Sphere of Law, but I am at 6 life and he is able to win.

While we were getting ready for game 3 the other matches were done and we figured we could draw into top 4.

First round in top 4 I get paired up against the Goblins player, I lose both games fairly quick, I got flooded on game one and without a top I can't find any action and game 2 I mull to 6 but failed to find a third land in time.

I'm trying to find time to complete this report, but it's taking forever - sorry about that. The cliff notes version looks like this:

    2015 Legacy Championship

    RD1: BUG Delver [W 2-1]
    RD2: Elves [W 2-0]
RD3: Enchantress [W 2-1] (Tormod's Crypt on Emrakul in game three sealed the deal once Grindstone was activated.)
RD4: OmniTell [W 2-1] (Tormod's Crypt again sealed the deal on Emrakul.)
    RD5: LED Dredge [W 2-0]
    RD6: Grixis Delver [L 0-2]
RD7: OmniTell [W 2-1] (Tormod's Crypt late game finished off Emrakul with Grindstone activation for the third time on the day.)
    RD8: RUG Delver [W 2-0]
    RD9: U/W/r Miracles [L 1-2]
    RD10: Junk [W 2-0]
    RD11: Merfolk [W 2-1]

Good for 14th place (9-2) with 742 coming out to play. The MVP of the tournament was an unheralded hero out of the sideboard:

Tormod's Crypt not only cleaned up against LED Dredge, it was also instrumental in sealing the deal against all three Emrakul-based match-ups where Dig Through Time was also nullified in multiple situations, as well. My Enchantress opponent was locked under a Moon effect early on, and once he found his third land drop of a basic Plains I immediately Blasted it and kept him locked out of additional pertinent resources. Crypt also ate his graveyard with Emrakul's trigger on the stack.

The other match-ups were fairly elementary: Moon-lock an opponent out of their mana (BUG), Red Elemental Blast and toast the fish (Merfolk) and Pyrokinesis out the little green men (Elves) before turning their deck sideways. My only two losses were to Miracles and the eventual champion (Bob H.), but I still felt confident enough to win. The Miracles match went deep into game three with each of us drawing for our lives; he just found a way out in time.

All in all, a hell of a tournament. It's good to rock the scarecrows again.

A few posts back I was asking about the omni matchup sideboard plan.

I often feel it is incorrect to board in spheres. I would rather have a canonist or vexing shusher to actually wn the fight. Otherwise they will kill you at 6 mana.

I think forcing them to combo at 6 mana is fine enough that extra time is sometimes all you need. You can also hold it in your hand and put it into play off their SnT; that usually puts a kink into their plan with out them playing around it.

I think if you are playing one in your SB anyway I would certainly bring it in. Whether you play it or hold it to put in with show and tell is up to you. It may allow you to blast away their omniscience if they don't have the mana to respond. I agree that Canonist is better, but they both essentially have the same function. They also can both be answered if you give them another couple of turns. Slaughter pact is still very good in that MU.
