The missing cards are 2 Birchlore Rangers.

    6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
    7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).

But as previously stated, I agree that the card is good, but really doubt it can be played in a playset in death and taxes.

I would like to be proved wrong, as a D&T rise would be a very great news for elves pilots.

We'll see what happens. Card's definitely annoying. From talking to D&T players, the answer I've gotten most of the time is that they are loving it but will only play 2 copies since it's still cmc3.

I dunno, whats good news about Thalia 2.0 for elves also looking at the other decks preying on D&T in that context. I cannnot predict how many Thalias future D&T builds will run, but the card closes a fundamental gap and is maindeckable unlike all the Containment Priests, Spirit of the Labyrinth, Leonin Arbiter and stuff thanks to the body and working with the manadenial plan

New thalia will be just another hoop to jump through...that's all DnT has for us tbh--is hoops. If you can successfully jump through them, it's ez. If you start to stumble or miss a jump tho--it snowballs real fast. The only games I currently lose to DnT involve multiple StPs, revoker on something relevant, fliers beating me down, port on my cradle, and some other piece of pressure like thalia or crusader. Even that board state is beatable until you add a "hoop" such as priest, spirit, or canonist...

I'd say as a general rule of thumb, if they don't get at least 3 taxing effects or hoop cards, they kinda can't win. That's my experience at least. This is not to say it's 100% by any means...I've lost my share to DnT (it's a dtb for a reason).

    Re: [Primer] Elves!

Just won an insane match against tin fins
g2 I start with duress on t1, death rite + pithing needle on turn 2 then I get emrakuled back to nothing but somehow manage to claw my way back into it.
g3 I have to mulligan to 5 and get my surgical extraction throughseized on turn 1. Thankfully my opponent is on the monastery mentor game plan. Even so, my opponent's turn 4 consists of 2x sensei's tops making 6 monks on top of that there is a swords to plowshares on my symbiote so I am forced to take the mentor hit.

My opponents board is now mentor 6 monks, 4 lands, sensei's top, lotus petal, no cards in hand, and 9 life remaining thanks to gitaxian probe, thoughsieze, fetches and a couple pendelhaven attacks from me.

Here is where it gets interesting. My board is 2x heritage druid, nettle sentinel, pendelhaven and cradle. my only card in hand is a 2nd cradle. In response to the swords I bounce one of the druids hoping to top deck glimpse. Well today was my lucky day and that's exactly what happened. I proceed to go off finding a 2nd glimpse, wirewood symbiote, elvish visionary and 3 other irrelevant elves making 8 total elves in play. At this point I run out of gas save for one last green sun's zenith. I did all this using the heritage druids so I can still play the 2nd cradle, but my only non-summoning-sick elf is now the lone nettle sentinel since I had to tap the heritage druid and I already used the symbiote. My two options are as such.

    1. get the craterhoof and attack for 25 trample. (nettle sentinel (2) + craterhoof (5) + +9/+9 x2 (18) = 25)
    2. get a symbiote and try continuing the glimpse chain by drawing 3 more cards with visionary

I went for the craterhoof because I guessed that the top card was likely the 2nd sensei's top, my opponent had already spent 1 swords to plowshares and probably only had 1-2 more in the deck, and the craterhoof attack was sufficient to win through 13 toughness worth of blocks with the monk tokens if the top card is any other 1 mana instant. As tempting as it felt I did not go for the symbiote because I figured my post sideboard deck was too diluted with 8 additional interactive spells to risk fizzling.

I got really lucky, but I felt I played well to pull out the win.

How would ya'll have played it out?

Just read an interview with the guy who did the American buyouts of LED, Moat etc. Looks like Cradle could be next. If you're entertaining the thought of buying one, you probably should do it sooner than later:

And the guy honestly believes he's doing people a favor. I'm lost for words. That's all I'm going to say on this.

Can't blame him. Its easy money for a 24y old father if you don't have to put any brain into it but just look at the reserved list and drop 10-20 grand, then walk to the stores and sell for double. WotC actively helps him and I personally just lean back and wait until the market and format collapses, because I will never again buy into a deck

Can't blame him, but don't have to like it.

Can't say I'd do much different tbh--bouncing the heritage EOT the prior turn is a heads up play. I do that all the time if I know that one of my live draws is glimpse, but some newer elf players don't know this little tidbit. Plays like this definitely fall in the camp of "plays you only make if you've played the deck a good bit and/or know what outs you're playing to."

    ;)

This kinda logic ends up helping create the spike.

    Re: [Primer] Elves!

This "kinda logic" is what allows at least some more people to complete the deck before they're priced out for good. Spikes aren't the problem anyways, they're merely a symptom. The real disease is WotC's reprint policy/RL.

    Re: [Primer] Elves!

By motivating people to buy immediately instead of waiting you are effectively helping price people out. If we don't pretend like there's some emergency and people wait until the price falls back to its long-term demand-based price until they buy, then the card will be cheaper for everyone. If there's no demand for $200 Cradles then the card doesn't cost $200 anymore.

    Re: [Primer] Elves!

I'm curious to see some post board set ups for NO elves list against Miracles. I gather I'm approaching the matchup wrong and would like to see what a post board list that is doing it right looks like. If anyone would mind posting the list along with what cards are brought in I'd quite appreciate it.

The couple things I think I've picked up are board out NO's, try not to overcommit to the board. Typically the longer the game goes the worse off we are though so I'm sure it's a balancing act learned with experience.

    Thanks

    Re: [Primer] Elves!

Seems like Reid Duke is playing elves on SCG Worcester Open. Just a reminder, but can someone find his decklist at some point? I really would like to see what build Reid has chosen to play.

EDIT: Got a screenshot about Reid's sideboard from feature match:
    3x Thoughtseize
    3x Cabal Therapy
    2x Mindbreak Trap
    3x Abrupt Decay
    1x Scavenging Ooze
    1x Progenitus
    1x Pithing Needle
    1x Null Rod

Seems like Reid has some sort of normal Natural Order build with Progenitus as sideboard tech.
