All of you play him MD or SB? I used to play him MD but moved him to the sb to make room for Leovold and Silkweaver as they are more relevant in the meta imo.
If I play WRP it's MD. I think you can to find better in SB. :)
Maindeck as well.
Gotta save space for the Penumbra Spider in the board. Real man's Silkweaver.
Tusk up.
(Not so) Current Decks: GB Elves, GW Maverick, GWb Maverick, LED Dredge, ANT, TES, Jund Storm.
I wonder why ppl don't play shaman of the pack, which really feels great after a decent glimpse.
What makes you think that? I play one MD (You could've seen so a few posts back in my decklist).
Besides I see a lot of Elves! decks in top 8 legacy playing him as a 1-off.
SotP made a lot of games for me! The drain is amazing. Especially with symbiote.
I play shaman in chaos builds, but it does not have space in NO builds imo.
As a SB card ... I am wondering which problem he is supposed to solve and if there aren't better options to solve that problem.
Currently playing: Elves
Because usually you are not looking for cards that are good when you have won the game.
It does not mean the card is bad, it's just that the justification you gave is terrible.
My personal take on it is that it more or less takes the same spot as WRP (ie. the GSZ-able midsize finisher), so you definitely should not play both of those. I think WRP is better at winning games that you are losing, hence is a better card.
That being said, shaman is better vs miracle/combo, while WRP is better vs Eldrazi/delver/midrange.
This is where I disagree, against many blue decks post-sideboard we often trim or completely cut the NO + Hoof package that is so potent G1. Being able to transition into a more grindy deck that still has access to a 4 mana or less win con (GSZ) I find is still incredibly important because often 1/1 beats and DRS drains have difficulty closing out the games. *Also one of the biggest upsides is that it is often catches an unsuspecting opponent off guard, and forces them to quickly find an answer.
WRP, as similar to Leovold is too big a target for removal and has decreased in upside with the printing of Fatal Push. There also is too much set up cost to extract value from WRP where Shaman has an immediate board impact.
Frankly if I were to play one of the GSz targets in your board or your main I think Leovold has the highest ceiling. My only problem with him is that in order to play him effectively you need to dilute the mana base which is one of the strongest/most important aspects of Elves.

Shamans drain can be huge... especially if the ground is plugged by other big fatties. I just see him being a bigger factor than I have seen posted, it kinda made it feel like a sleeper card to be honest. As for the addition of another color I don't see an issue with it. The color combination gives access to aburpt decay which helps massively against miracles and other stuff that we need that one spell that can't be countered. *cough* chalice on one lol
The Grand Legacy Trial at MKM Series Milan today was won by Daze Elves. List also included a 1of Brainstorm.
List should be available tomorrow.
The seven cardinal sins of Legacy:
1. Discuss the unbanning ofLand TaxEarthcraft.
2. Argue that banning Force of Will would make the format healthier.
3. Play Brainstorm without Fetchlands.
4. Stifle Standstill.
5. Think that Gaea's Blessing will make you Solidarity-proof.
6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).
Here's the list :
Main Deck:
2 Daze
4 Green Sun's Zenith
2 Leovold, Emissary of Trest

Nice.
Brainstorm, Daze, Leovold, DRS ... at this point you could essentially just drop the Symbiotes, Visionaries, Glimpse and just run TNN, FoW, Ponder, etc instead for an even better deck

I played in a local monthly win a dual tourney this weekend with the following list:
2 Dryad Arbor
2 Birchlore Rangers
2 Craterhoof Behemoth
4 Deathrite Shaman
4 Elvish Visionary
3 Heritage Druid
4 Nettle Sentinel
4 Quirion Ranger
1 Reclamation Sage
1 Wren run's packmaster
4 Wirewood Symbiote
4 Glimpse of Nature
4 Green Sun's Zenith
3 Natural Order
2 Bayou
2 Forest
2 cavern of souls
1 pendelhaven
4 Gaea's Cradle
4 misty rainforest
3 Wooded Foothills
Sideboard
4 Abrupt Decay
2 Cabal Therapy
3 surgical extraction
1 Reclamation Sage
1 Scavenging Ooze
3 Thoughtseize
1 Leovold, Emissary of Trest
Rd 1 Reid Duke BUG 2-0
game 1: This deck just feels like any BUG deck. I won the game by outlasting his deck. He force'd several cards and even landed a Leovold. I just hard casted a Behemoth for the win.
game 2: I mulled to 4 and kept a hand with a pendelhaven, quirion ranger and gsz. I think my opponent kept the hand for the graf cage and fow. I gsz for Pendelhaven and cast ranger on the following turn. He decays my ranger, which makes for an anemic battle between 2 hierarchs and my pendelhaven powered arbor. I eventually outlast his deck and win with a Behemoth.
Rd 2 Grixis Delver ID
It sucks when you get paired against your girlfriend. We play one game for lolz which I win.
rd 3 BG depths 2-0
game 1: I glimpse out on turn 3 and attack for 49 damage.
game 2: same as game 1
rd 4: 8 moon 2-0
I was seating beside the dude last round so I knew he had blood moons. I mulled for basic forest for each game.
game 1: Basic forest and quirion ranger wins. I win through NO on the 4th turn
game 2: Same as game 1
rd 5: BR reanimator ID
We are guaranteed a seat in the top 8, so we didn't bother playing and just enjoyed the break.
Quarter Finals: 4C Loam 0-2
game 1: I think I got killed on turn 4. Doesn't help if he has a ton of removal too.
game 2: My opponent had chalice, punishing fire lock, pulse, and wasteland. It also sucks if you drew leovold and can't cast him.
top 8 was 1 Elves, 1 8 moon, 1 BG depths, 1 4c loam, 2 br reanimator (ugh), and 2 big eldrazi (ugh). Realized meta was pretty hostile to elves, either you face chalice, Griselbrand, or Marit Lage. I might remove the 2nd sage and Leovold from the sb and add 2 Nissas.
Bringing the following list to SCG Worcester in a few weeks. Still have 3 SB slots to nail down- I'm thinking the 4th Decay is absolutely going to sneak in there, as I know the field will have quite a few strong Miracles players, and I'm thinking potentially a Shaman of the Pack because I'll probably see the occasional lands player and I want something high impact (3 power and drain 1/2 life as a standalone threat vs miracles is decent, trades with most of the creatures I think I'll see there), but I've been wracking my brain for a 15th SB card that has high impact against miracles while also having some game against the other fair decks (ie garruk/bitterblossom/etc)- any thoughts?
The rest of the list:
Creatures:29
2 Dryad Arbor
2 Birchlore Rangers
4 Deathrite Shaman
2 Heritage Druid
3 Nettle Sentinel
3 Quirion Ranger
4 Wirewood Symbiote
4 Elvish Visionary
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Leovold, Emissary of Trest
1 Reclamation Sage
2 Craterhoof Behemoth
Spells:13
4 Glimpse of Nature
4 Green Sun's Zenith
3 Natural Order
2 Nissa, Vital Force
Lands:18
2 Bayou
2 Cavern of Souls
2 Forest
4 Gaea's Cradle
4 Windswept Heath
4 Wooded Foothills
Sideboard:12
3 Cabal Therapy
2 Pithing Needle
2 Surgical Extraction
2 Thoughtseize
3 Abrupt Decay
Edit: Specifically worried about the miracles list that A. Daas/Bob Huang/Chris Stitson(mzfroste) all play, as I expect that winning the tournament will involve beating them as well as people who have shamelessly copied their 75s. 3 predict/1 ee/1 cj- notable that build sides in wear//tear, so sylvan library and other enchantments open us up for a 2-for-1.
