Street Wraith BB3
Creature - Wraith (TS)
Swampwalk
Cycling - Pay 2 life.
3/4
The card if accurate lets any deck run 56 card decks if they're willing to lose two life. It's like Bauble but without the wait, thus making it decent as a top deck too. I think it's an obvious inclusion in most combo decks.
The question is, to what extent does it belong in aggro decks.
9 land stompy for example has in my opinion always been searching for that one last 1cc 2 power creature with very minimal drawbacks to round out the deck. Now it doesn't have to.
Burn imo is looking for a couple more cards that can deal 3 damage for just one mana, now it can replace one of those cards that's not as efficent for this.
Both of the above decks considered or tested Baubles and most builds rejected them since Baubles make poor topdecks the turn you're trying to win. This doesn't.
What about other aggro decks?
I'm pretty sure it's playable in almost any aggro or combo deck, especially ones already running black.
It's also got tasty synergy with Tarmogoyf, since along with a fetchland and a first turn Duress/Serum Visions/Brainstorm/Dark Ritual/etc. it makes for a turn 2 3/4 creature.
Except goblins cause of ringleaders.
First instincts tell me that it will see play, but won't become an auto-include in those decks.
For some reason, I get the compulsive urge to do something terrible involving this card and Golgari Brownscale. I can't think of anything worthwhile but there HAS to be a way to abuse it...
There is no reason why Burn should not run this card.
TEAM DRAGONFORCIA-
Ghost ridin' the whip like we invented that shit.
TEAM UNICORN
We're going for number four!
Anything using Life from the Loam should at least consider it, the synergy with the Tarmogoyf is pretty bad ass tho'.
I actually don't think that "all" combo decks are going to use this, because TES and Belcher require exact cards to be in their hands for turn 1 and turn 2 kills, and keeping a hand with Street Wraith is a big risk.
Doomsday, however, absolutely loves this card, and I think it could be pretty good in IGGY POP with Mystical Tutor to.
No...I think that is stupid...I mean, it basically reads "replace this card with another card from the top of your deck and loose 2 life" I mean, Ichorid is the only deck I can see this beeing potentially good in or maybe a few other decks with the dredge mechanic, but besides that, you should be able to build a deck that is just solid enough...there are plenty of card choices and options out there that nobody should run 4 of these PURELY for the factor of "being able to run 56 cards" and also, Ive been in games where I've been at a low ammount of life and I need to top deck a card to win...(not very often but it happens to everybody from time to time) this would be a very bad card to topdeck in situations like that and the stupid 56 card argument just doesn't justify it...ohh yea and p.s. this wasn't directed at you specificly Klark, I was just quoting your post because it was the original...
All I know is that I will most certainly be running it in my burn deck.
Letting me cut my three weakest burn spells and a land to improve my chances of drawing more Lightning Bolts or any of the 3 damage for one mana spells burn has access to, and Fireblasts certainly seems worth two points of life.
I think its bad, too. Its the same reason why I don't play Flame Rift. It helps the opponents clock in alot of matchups. But this card does nothing (besides a bit of deck thinning) and helps the opponents clock!
Also the new spell:
Ghostfire
2R
Instant
Ghostfire is colorless.
Ghostfire deals 3 damage to target creature or player.
is a much better addition to Burn.
TS Crew
To be honest I think you all are making too big a deal over just one card... and a mediocre one at that... I would only want to run it in a handful of decks, and just see it as unplayable in most... that's my take on it.
Um, what?
It fills the graveyard, draws cards and means that you're effectively playing a 56 card deck the cost of only 2 life. You might be misunderstanding the point of the card; it's mana cost will never be paid. You've really got to back that statement up with something.
Has anyone thought about using street wraith with Library of Leng? You can get as many cycle/draw/discard effects as your life total will permit. Unfortunatley, I havent found a good use for this yet.
High score..what does that mean? Did I break the game?
Free cantrips are amazing in Meandeck Tendrils, but if you don't play type one, you can have plenty of fun with this card in Iggy Pop and especially Friggorid!!!
Street Wraith is quite good with cards that allow you to return creature cards from your graveyard to your hand, like Oversold Cemetary, Oath of Ghouls, Genesis and cards like that; turning those into Phyrexian Arenas, and enabling you to use your graveyard as a resource.
If there were ways that you could take advantage of it being a black creature in the graveyard, like in Ichorid, you can make it more than just a free cantrip. At 3/4 with semi-relevant evasion it isn't that poor of a creature for reanimating either.
Cycling the Wraith and Reanimating it is the equivilant of dark ritualling out a better Phyrexian War-Machine with a 7 life cost, but no card disadvantage. I don't know if that's worth it, but it might be in suicide aggro decks.
KIDS WITH GUNS!
Street Wraith in 9LS would actually reduce the number of playable 2-power 1cc guys you can play, since you could never think about running Ghazaban Ogre or Wild Dogs.
I have to say that I'm with the guys who say this is overrated. Look at the math surrounding fetchlands, and why they're great for mana fixing but bad for deck thinning - IIRC you have to crack something like a full playset of fetches to start netting higher card quality, and that's already 4 life and at least 4 turns. I'll admit he's probably got a place in several different varieties of combo, as it can replace the cards that are simply 'good enough', but this guy isn't an open invitation to run 56 cards.

It should also be considered that this will fall prey to many of the same tricks that anti-fetchland tech does; Stifle becomes Shock+Duress for U with this. I'd almost rather Extirpate myself. Almost.
How many of this guy to you want to draw anyway? Surely the answer can't be "as many as it takes", how many decks want to just pay 4 life?
Dont forgot it also works with lightning rift!
Ok... i doesnt matter...
