    [Deck] Multi-Dragon Crush

Okay, I am posting this here because no one in the Dragon Stompy thread wants to see MercenaryBDU's untested Deck lists anymore.... This deck is a variation of Dragon Stompy, however it is such a bad variation on Dragon Stompy that the people who post on the Dragon Stompy thread no longer consider it a Dragon Stompy list.

Here is the list that I built:

    Lands
    6 Mountain
    4 Ancient Tomb
    4 City of Traitors

    Artifact Lands
    4 Great Furnace

    Dragons
    3 Covetous Dragon
    1 Rorix Bladewing
    4 Pit Dragon
    2 Taurean Mauler

    Other Creatures
    4 Arc-Slogger
    4 Simian Spirit Guide
    4 Magus of the Moon

    Spells
    4 Seething Song
    3 Blood Moon

    Artifacts
    3 Trinisphere
    4 Chalice of the Void
    2 Jitte
    4 Chrome Mox

Here is the list that MercenaryBDU seems to be running at the current time:

    7 Mountain
    4 Furnace
    4 Tomb
    4 City

    1 Rorix
    4 Covertous Dragon
    2 Mauler
    4 Spirit Guide
    4 Magus of the Moon
    4 Arc-Slogger
    4 Pit Dragon

    4 Seething Song
    4 Chrome Mox
    2 trinisphere
    2 Sword of F/I
    2 Jitte
    4 Chalice of the Void

    SB
    2 Pyrokinesis
    4 Pyroclasm
    1 Two Headed Dragon
    2 Trinsphere
    2 Pithing Needle
    2 Crash
    2 Mauler

As you can see this list is fairly bad, and probably would get totally raped by most of the decks in the format. It is far worse than the true Dragon Stompy.

Additionally, because MercenaryBDU does not have Apprentice, Magic Online, or Magic Workstation, nor an offline play testing partner, he is unable to test this deck. I am currently busy and unable to test this deck. So I would ask anyone who is interested to test either or both of the above listed decks, and report back your results. Thanks in advance.

P.S. if MercenaryBDU does manage to post this deck in another thread, the mods are free to delete this thread if they so wish.

And for the love of god, please don't lock this! We've had to endure the interruptions of constructive discussions by random Dragonpile decklists for long enough. Everytime we get a decent discussion going (we almost had a discussion about the DS/Breakfast MU) it gets killed by this crappy list and the chainreaction of GTFOOH replies, in cycles of once every three days.

How about we rename it "Hek Long"?

This deck fascinates me, personally I think we should add some Tarox to go along with the Rorix, or maybe possibly Shivan Dragon, it seems to be the new tech in Standard, why not here as well!

Another route this could take is the Sneak Attack route. Sneaking in big Dragons such as Zodiac Dragon and using the free Blazing Shoal could make for a lightning fast kill!

I already tried the Tarox option and it was later ditched so the installation the Covertous Dragons could be in place.

I would first say; wheres gathan raider? 5/5 for 3 that hellbends the Pit Drag? Also the furnaces seem excessive, it just weakens your manabase by allowing artifact removal to become a factor.
Rorix seems like an uneasy mana cost, almost only playable off Seething song.
If I were running this list I would:

    -4 Greater Furnace
    -1 Rorix
    -2 Mauler
    -------------------
    +4 mountain
    +3 Gathan Raiders

I think you missed the Covetous Dragon part; the deck's pretty much a toy version of Dragon Stompy.

Don't just dismiss the bulk of the ideas. As dismissing has dire concequences if you don't test them all (has been proven from time to time and always will).

Covetous Dragon was dismissed originally when it came to the DS. The Stompy decks tend to sport a lot of artifacts and that Dragon is very flexable with just a single in the cost as long as you controled other artifacts in the process. (the reason why the artifact lands are there).

So if you are stuck on just a single red source and the tombs, cities or both with some artifacts that Dragon is good. Slogger is a staple to the plan but if you don't have a second red source you are going to be stuck with it for some games.

    Re: Multi-Dragon Crush

for purposes of testing this is the sideboard that I went with:

    // Sideboard
    2 Pyrokinesis
    1 Two-Headed Dragon
    4 Crash
    4 Pyroclasm
    4 Pithing Needle

I tried to stick as closely to BDU's sideboard as possible, while at the same time making it as playable as I possibly could.

Also for purposes of testing I also went with my deck list not BDU's. I am going to play about 5 matches for the purposes of this testing... just to get a feel for what this deck is capable of, plus I can't predict the meta of MWSplay.net.

Okay, so first match was against a BGW Landstill deck. I went 1 - 2 - 0 against it. I won the second game because I was able to resolve the lock pieces, not because of the Dragons. Which pretty much proves that the Lock Pieces are all much more useful than the Dragons are. Additionally at least one of the games resulted in my Covetous Dragons being targeted with a Pernicious Deed hitting for 0 killing all of the artifacts I had out, effectively killing the Covetous Dragon before it had a chance to attack for 6 damage! For the record, the sideboard didn't help me at all in this match up. Though if I had to do it again, I would have sided in the Pithing Needles to help against the Pernicious Deeds.

Okay, second match I went against a UGB threshold deck. I went 2 - 0 - 0 against it. I won the first game pretty much because I was able to get out superior beaters faster than they could deal with them, as well as lock peices. I also won the second game primarily on the back of a Taurean Mauler, who quickly got bigger than any of their Goyfs. So this does seem to be a favorable match up for this deck. Again, the sideboard was of little use to me in this match up.

Third match, went up against Mono-Black Control. I went 1 - 2 - 0 againt it. I only won the one game because I was able to get a Chalice set at one and a Rakdos Pit Dragon onto the field. The simple fact of the matter is that this deck is too fast for Multi-Dragon Crush to be viable against. I doubt even Dragon Stompy would have a good time against this particular match up.

At this point I am taking a short break from playing, I will be back to continue testing at a later date...

DS is already an awful deck, but this outperforms it in its mediocrity.

With DS you already got used to lose to T2 decks, with this one, you'll hopefully lose to block decks?

    Re: Multi-Dragon Crush

I came up with a "Dragon Sneaky" list a few months ago. Not really viable. It can get lucky, but it is above all a _casual_ deck idea.

Ancient Tomb, City of Traitors, 12 Mountains
    Chrome Mox
    Simian Spirit Guide
    Urza's Incubator
    Sneak Attack
    Chalice of the Void
    Rakdos Pit Dragon
    Tarox Bladewing
    Kilnmouth Dragon
    Shivan Dragon
    Thunder Dragon
    ...
    Sides: Pyromancy/Pyroclasm/Trinisphere/BloodMoon/BlazingShoal/PithingNeedle

I never nailed down the exact SB, but it did have Blazing Shoal, needle & bloodmoon in it.

    Like I said, CASUAL.

    Re: [Deck] Multi-Dragon Crush

I just went 0 - 2 - 0 against an Ichorid deck with this deck. The sad fact of the matter is that though this deck has a lot of lock pieces that work wonders against Ichorid, the deck simply is not fast enough to pull off a win, without a proper answer such as Leyline of the Void, or Tormod's Crypt for Ichorid decks.

With tha huge dragon count I cant but ask myself where are those dragonspeaker shamans and Zirilan of the claw?, they have bodys that can also attack you know? Plus, good alīZirilan really holds attakers down!!
How is the mana working here? Are mindstones considerable? (Accel+draw isnt a lousy topdeck)
I feel thet This deck might need some early game defence, Mogg fanatic counters Bridge from below, But Heap doll ALSO helps against Breakfast and even thresh.

If you noticed, we are running Trinisphere and Chalice of the Void... those kind of preclude 1 casting cost spells. So No Mogg Fanatics. Though I think your other ideas are worth looking into.
