The weather looks like a epic storm is rising 5-0 with pimp TES

Back from summer and with a new Tropical Island that made allmost all my TES deck pimp or at least not white border (wb sucks...) I decided to play in my first after summer event the deck. We would gonna play 5 rounds and get some cash for the top 3.

Lets see how the weather is gonna be today, but I think a big storm is rising!

From the new stock list I decided to play a massacre over pyroblast cause usualy there is not a lot of meddling mages and there is always 1 taxes at least. So massacre seems fine in that spot.

R1 Burn
He puts his deck out of the box, its a chandra sleeves deck in a chain lightning box and he showed me the bottom card being a mountain. So 100% burn.

My 1st hand was:

thats a mull vs burn and most any deck

my 2dn hand:
2 rof
1 led
1 dark ritual
2 burning

This hand has no IMS so i cant play I have to mull again :(

My 3rd hand:
1 led
1 petal
1 rof
1 brainstorm
1 emtpy

Thats a decent 5 card hand that can make a bunch of goblins, I can get stuck on lands but dosnt get eny better.


He gets me 11 when my hand advances to this on turn 3:
2 infernal
1 petal
2 rof
1 dark ritual
with 2 lands in play (I shufled the empty away)


I play a volcanic and ponder a Petal and from there dark ritual, infernal getting a third rof, play all 3 rof and infernal the empty for 18 goblins. I had a therapy on grave and discarted his price of progress in his turn he brings me to 5. and has flame rift in hand. I attack with 16/17 goblins. putting him to 4 lifes so if he draws burn we get a draw at least cause he has to play the flame rift.

I keep de ok 7 seven but he lands a pirostatic pilar t2. Have no way to get rid of it and I put a brainstorm, led, gitaxian, empty for 8 goiblins going to 12 lives in the proces. He casts a flame rift and 2 lava spike plus fireblast and im dead.


Now I have seen that he plays more or less old school burn so I side out from the basic list:
-trompical
-duress
+void snare
+infernal tutor.
I get turn 2 ten tokens and they ride me 2 turns latter to the win.

So 1-0 So hard to play burn, easy matchup but really hot.

After the game I asked if he dosnt play eidolon and he didnt even know the card :(

Round 2 Death and taxes
I know what im facing because htis guy always plays taxes. My hand is:

Really broken hand!!!

I therapy 2 thalia away with the gemstone and his other cards are:

he wastelands me and I draw a fetch, play the fetch and pass, he plays plains and passes and i play the trop, led, led into infernal nauseam and GG.

G2 he mulls and starts pains go. My hand is: Fetch, volcanic, 2 dark ritual, led, probe, ponder, draw a decay. I play a gitaxian seeing:
2 serra
1 wasteland

1 englihten tutor

So now he can go for canonist of whatever turn 2. From the gitaxian I draw a mox. I play the volcanic and a ponder seeing land, infernal and ritual. I was about to pass then realices decay is also black. Drew the infernal, mox with decay and cast 2 dark rituals from there led infernal nauseam with one red mana floeating. I go down to 1 life cause I revealed empty. I revealed no artifact mana just a dark ritual, 3 rof, one burning, 2 infernal. I know he can go into ratched but I dont care. I just make double rof and 24 goblins and he tutors for rathed. On my turn I draw a led and just make dark ritual, infernal a second rof and burning for pif the rest ist dust... lilke my opponent.

Round 3 against shardless bug.
I play duress get rid of his hymn and he drops DRS. His hand does almost nothing.I get turn 3, 12 tokens letting 2 leds on top of a brainstorm and discard with therapy him a shardless. He draws and drops 2 more deathrites. Now im not in good position. I atack letting him to 14. I dont atack again and I draw a burning while holding both leds in hand. Get infernal. He is draining me and im facing his 3 deathrite. Idk when I cast infernal he taped all 3 deathrites and drained me 6 lifes. Theat led me atack him for some more. He drops a goyf and he is hellbend. I draw a therapy, cast on his nothing hand, drop both leds, infenal a a burnin cracking the leds and burning for tendrills draining him to dead even with his deathrite.

I sided 0 cards, my opp is not so good so he will leave the decays and so he can destroy my pithings.

I mull and keep a hand of mox, 3 lands, probe and burning. A not really good hand but being mulligan vs a thogseize deck is fine.
He seizes my burning. i draw a land and I probe, draw a land, next turn I draw another probe, and another land. 3 draws leatter i had drawn a petal and 2 more lands (that makes 7 in total) and facing lethal from 2 shardless (one hitting visions), 1 chaman, a strix plus 2 hymns. Here I made a missplay that in my last turn of life, I had therapy in hand and passes turn. Without casting it cause it was no sense, but I should have just to gather infromation.

G3 I see his hand with gitaxian of nothing relevant, a shardless and a rathed. With the probe I draw empty. My hands is nuts now. I cast land ritual therapy the rathed, petal rof and make 12 tokens. I can flashback the therapy but im to fast he has to topdeck a cantrip on his next turn or a charm on his second turn. He draws and I see that he plays the lands he draws, so no reason to therapy. Atack and he draws and dosnt hit the charm. GG

Round 4 Against miracles vs one of the 2 best miracles players in Spain.
I didnt take any notes, But I know I won game 1 from discarting his balance while he has top and I ad nauseamed the turn after he senseied me and he had no counter on top.

Game 2 I duress him discarting a brainstorm, he had:

1 braisntorm
1 fow
1 balance

Here im not sure if brainstorm was best choice but so I got him of advancing and he could not play the balance cause holding blue card and the pyros.

I have tendrills, 2 rof, infernal, a petal, a therapy, duress, dark ritual. I have a gemstone and a volcanic in play. I play the duress and discard fow, seeing a vendilion. I play 2 rite of flames, petal and dark ritual, now therapy to be hellbent. he clickes me in response and now he is at 18 lives with 7 storm, he takes the infernal away and I draw a sad sad land. Any spell would have been the lethal 9th spell. But I let him at 2 lives and He draws top then land and jace. He is at 1 live and i never manage to get a infernal or burning to grapeshot him away.

I changed the tendrills for grapeshot cause it gets rid of snapcaster and vendilion, and is also a nicee storm card to have.


G3 I duress him and he has 2 terminus staticaster. He draws sensei and I had pithing ready he changes and pases, next turn he plays balance, and I gamble. on his 1 fetch, 1 unknown card in hand and the balance trigger. I play petal, he shows a jace, I play led, lets it resolve. I play infernal, he lets it resolve making m gamble on getting nauseam if he had draw a pierce, because empty is pierce proof but gets taticastered. So I just yolo on nauseam, he had a braisntorm but dosnt find a fow to put on top. So I just neauseam him going to 4 lifes, then decay the balance and he scoopes.


Round 5 vs reanimator

I start and play therapy naming entomb. his hand was:
fow
daze
ponder
verdant
reanimate
ashen rider
brainstorm

He draws and discard a griselbrand, Thats bad... I draw a duress and play it with mana up for the daze, he forces. Next turn he reanimates the griselbrand and I try to combo out he draws card and he has a fow so its over.

Sided this:

+1 infernal (idk if this is good to side in)

I play a turn 1 xantid he dosnt force, he keep a decent but greedy hand:

2 entomb

1 reanimate
1 fow
and drew a third entomb for his turn. pondered shuffled and drew a random card. Still no land.

I atacked with xantid and caster the random therapy hitting all 4 entombs. 1-2 turn latter i infernaled casted nauseam and he scooped.

On the draw I sideboarded diferent because I had to be may be slower but make that he cant combo me.

I have to get rid of his combo better I think, My opp made some missplays wich alowed me to win an unwinaable game.

He starts land ponder and petal and passes.
I play petal land duress. seeing, griselbrand, ashen rider, exume, reanimate and daze. Discard the reanimate and pass. He draws a carefull and discard both fattys. and got no land but another reanimate for griselbrand. after that he passes the turn. I draw a pithing... now, littl late no? But cast it, He dosnt respond drawing so I name griselbrand and thougt oh may be he has a plan. I have 2 lands now and a lot of mana of spells. He reanimates on his turn the ashen after atacking me to 10 lives, and think I oh now he blows up my pithing and im dead. He blows up a ladn. I rip of the nauseam from the top like a boss play both dark ritual and both leds from my hand and him beeeing at 9 lifes from the reanimates. Im at 10 but is ok cause i have 6 mana from the 2 leds and no 4 cost cards in deck. So I just make 12 spells and grapeshot him to dead like a boss!!!!!!



Last round I should have win game 3 but also he had really good draws g1 so thats even. If he dosnt rip the grisel from the top I would have just won g1. Shitt happens and karmawas nice to me.

I liked the 2 pithing a lot, against miracles it was really good and safe to know i had them and vs griselbrand is also a great addition even if it comes late.
I like to play 3 decays gives me a safety feeling vs counterbalance and it really hurts me to only play 2 and dont get to them when they land a balance.

Don't you think that keeping EtW in the Main over ToA against Miracles is strickly better if you have Pithing Needle to stop top-shuffle-top? The game against Miracles with the natural drawn ToA is a perfect example why I hate the boarded ToA against anything that doesn't run 3 Meddling Mages.

The sheer number of times you boarded in the 4th infernal Supports my point of view that without a certain number of Cabal Rituals, the Wish-for-Infernal plan is not only too expensive, but you want to be able to combo asap even against control decks like Team America or Miracles.

I dont side in the infernal vs tempo decks. I think is better to keep in side. Even if usualy a bw for empty is enought. But against decks that u have to go off turn 1-2 is better to have it main. At the enf is just a think of metagame. Ig u eould side it more times out than not its ok to have it md.

Also i will not board the toa again. Grape was ok. Cause kills scm and clicke and also ig they medling the bw u can grape the mage or even nauseam and storm them to dead. Im to sure if i would like a pondrr instead.

What u think about the sb vs reanimator? I have a gard side sidding vs it and im never sutr if I did it right.

Haven't played against Reanimator for quite a while, but your main Problem is Iona is you play without bounce. If you drop a Needle on Griselbrand, they can simply sidestep it by entombing the Angel instead. The Thoughtseize + Xantids should be enough to replace 2 Ponder and the EtW

The infernals I want them to be gandorf on the background of link. Like the original image change the fat guy with ganondorf and the small with link and its done.

Must be the Tendrils as you return it to the Woods ... Erm ... sideboard, after you slayed evil with it. You need also strength, courage and wisdom to be able to find and wield it ... i mean ... fetch and cast ;)
