Despite the discussion in the tournament thread (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/s...t=14916&page=4 ) this metagame very closely resembles the larger metagame, with Thresh, Counterbalance, Merfolk, Zoo, Goblins, and the recent SCG winner, Stax, as the most popular archetypes.
Practically everything else was represented, from 2 land belcher to Enchantress. It was a very diverse and yet the same metagame as the major recent SCG tournaments, nothing aberrant except the unusual top 8.
Our next MEANDECK OPEN Will be Sunday, December 27th! Look for the announcement in the next few weeks! Mark your calendars now!!

Oh, wow, didn't see that one coming.
Of the archetypes represented in 3+ numbers, I only saw Merfolk & CounterTop in the six rounds, which explains why I (among others) thought the meta was odd. Of course, hearing about 34landdestruction.dec after the first round along with Ninjas (Ninjas?!?) might have facilitated this.
Do you have the Decklist for the other UWb Landstill list? Would like to see it for comparison purposes. Oh, and Eric Blegen is Media314r8 on here.

Similarly, I played against burn and white weenie in 2 of my 5 rounds so it definitely seemed like an odd meta when looked at on such a small scale.

Thats one reason I'd like to start earlier so that top 8 could play out and still have time for food before restaurants close.

There was plenty of time. I think I got to BDs well before 8pm and I think they close at 10, if not later. But we will be moving the tournament start time to 12:30.
They close at 9 on Sundays. My car left a little later because we had someone playing in the legacy side event. Unfortunately since we waited we didn't arrive till BD's until 855 and decided we didn't want to be those guys. So we went to max & erma's instead. But if they t8 had played out BD's wouldn't have been an option
Ben Wienburg
Max&Erma's!! Holy crap! That place is amazing!
That's another, great, close post-tournament restaurant.
We will move the start time to 12:30, and if that works well, we'll move it up to noon the following event.

Another consideration is that you can take the cash and then go play the playoffs at a restaurant : ) Soldiery isn't the greatest place to be chillin' out at dinner time, so that could be a cool option otherwise. With nearly $800 in the prize pool, there's little reason to just split - you're getting $40 instead of $100, which still covers expenses. I mean, for $60, I'd definitely play that out, even though if I won, I'd still be down $20 from the split. That said, making it to the finals is $240.
All I'm saying is, man up, Nancy!
Wow.. Soldiery too 180 of the prizepool.... that kinda terrible.....maybe he could take 10%... that would be a little better. Its not like he's not already raping us driving 1-2 hours out there..... and maybe if we won more money, we could pick up a card or two from the store....
And I would have been glad to play the top 8... but I had to play against RRRRRRATZEL!!!! and that is a very bad matchup for me... I feel I could have beat him.... If he was playing a deck without red in it.....
