[Game Log] Okay, Countryside Crusher is insane

I wanted to post this in the Morningtide discussion thread, but there's no spoiler feature on the boards and I didn't want to clog up that page.

This is Game 1 against straight GWr Enchantress (lots of basics) with Aggro Loam. My list runs 27 lands, btw.

G2 I had another Countryside Crusher that was less broken - it only killed in two swings: 4/4 the first time, because I had to pay for Elephant Grass; 13/13 the next turn after I Reverent Silenced his board and cycled a couple of Thickets.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this turn 4 win because it was awesome, but I'd like to note that even had I been unable to go so all-in (for example if I was fearing removal and/or counters), Crusher would have been no less absurd. Moreover, I'd like to note that the game 1 above did not feature, or even need, Life from the Loam.

What can I say, Loam-based strategies just got MUCH scarier and MUCH more resilient to graveyard hate. Tarmogoyf didn't hurt that at all. I absolutely hate the idea of playing fair against anything of the sort. Of course the simple answer is to not-play-fair, but still, a 3-mana 20/20 sounds like 'Tog, except 5 turns faster. Of course, it dies to all Goyf-killers, but at some point your deck has so many huge mofos that opponent runs out of removal first.

Against loam, yes. Against the format, meh, and that's only because goyf is played so much.

Yes it did. Although you really need to time it since you will not draw any lands once it is targeted.

Absolutely agree. I just had a game vs. UGB Thresh that can be summed up as: Vore? Counter. Burning Wish? Counter, play Mongoose. Vore? Ghastly Demise, beat with Mongoose, play a Goyf. Crusher? Ok, it resolves, play a Tombstalker, pass... OH SHIT IS THAT A 14/14 WTF??

I was thinking of that bauble-type artifact from Alliances that puts up to 4 lands from GY to top of library. Too provincial?

Anyway, I think Nihil has the deck type pegged pretty well in his example anyway. Very cool card. I can't believe they made it a 3/3 for 3 in red. Is the solution for broken green Tarmo going to be to break the other colors as well?

Needs 100% more Crop Rotation, that's for sure.

I think the card is very good (obv), but it + 'Goyf will simply allow Smother to be played more. Smother is so saucy.

Lodestone Bauble only grabs basic lands. Ergo it sucks.

Yea, but between 'Goyf, 'Vore and 'Crusher, you have 12 beaters to their 4 Smothers or 4 StPs. That's definitely in your advantage.

I was wondering, what exactly happens if you control more then one Countryside Crusher? Let's say two - do each of them trigger after each other? so you first mill down to 1st nonland card -> then repeat the process for the second Crusher, or??

Sorry if this has been brought up before

I had the same question earlier because I was overthinking the process.

More than 1 Crusher in play:
Okay, so crusher 1 and 2 trigger, you put them on the stack and resolve the last one put on the stack. You put reveal the top card, if it's a land put it into the graveyard and repeat this process until you hit a non-land. The second crusher then resolves, and unless you have a shuffle effect it will reveal the same card that crusher 1 did. You then draw your card for the turn (most likely the revealed card) and then enter your main phase.

There're also cycling effects, clash effects, and cantrips...

Hence the whole "(most likely the revealed card)" part. Maybe I should have added the whole "redo this process for c2".

It's also worth noting that Loam's biggest drawback has been its vulnerability to graveyard hate eating Loam, Terravore, and Tarmogoyf. Excluding Leyline of the Void, Countryside Crusher's going to circumvent all of this.

I seriously think I might be building some form of Aggro Loam.

True. I was wondering if his masquerade as a certain premium geriatric had finally gotten to him.

That new card Scapeshift makes him interesting. Sac all your lands for the heck of it and go get fetches/Wastes/etc. Sac all the fetcheswastes, etc, swing for a bunch. Seems decent for a 4th turn.

The lands come into play tapped.
