Any Sourcers going? We should meet up.

Definitely not a response to Matt's GP Seattle Thread.

I'll be going with a car filled with Nebraska and Iowa people.

Eww. Iowa people? I didn't realize there *were* people in Iowa, I thought it was just a vast wasteland between Wisconsin and Nebraska.

I'll be there with my old roommate. No idea what I'm playing yet. I've got about half a dozen "possible" decks. Looking for one that beats god draws out of RUG Delver without sucking it up to the rest of the format. My finish in Lincoln will net me a bye. It's technically possible, but highly improbable, that if the PTQ in Madison next weekend is large enough and I do well enough, that I could hit 2 byes. It'd require a 10 round PTQ and I'd have to go 10-0 and then win out the T8. Seems pretty unlikely.

Does anyone know if the PWP you get from the grinders on Friday will post to the interwebz fast enough to count for Saturday? That seems like a much easier plan for getting a second bye, if that'd work.

I just booked an expensive-ass room about 3 miles away from Lucas Oil Stadium along with a round-trip Amtrak ticket (the station is conveniently located directly in between Lucas Oil and the convention center), so I'll be there. I know a few more from Minneapolis are coming as well.

There will be an Erie contingent at the Grand Prix.

Somebody from it will make Day Two. A couple will be agonizingly close. A couple will play hilariously badly. This is the Team Lake Effect Way.

All of us will, unlike the last GP, come home with the decks we registered.

Any basketball fans out there; if I scrub out of the main, there's a Chicago Bulls game at 7pm on 3/10 I'm going to shoot for. Anybody wants in, PM me and we can talk about it.

Going despite the 12 hour car ride soloing....

For the love of gawd don't solo a 12hr. I have done that once before and NEVER AGAIN!
I would sooner relocate some homeless people or pick up hitchhikers.
Surely you can find some locals, or make some slight detours in order to carpool with magical traveling companions.

Oh... I will also be in attendence (IN native). I mean even if i scrub out day1 there is a big tcgplayer legacy tournament there sunday.
Tthere is a big standard tcgplayer one saturday if you need to lure nonlegacy players on the trip BTW.

Gotta love the waffles. Plus I've got a rewards account there, so occasionally I stay somewhere for free! Last year, it was in Memphis.

I bought some Souls from CFB for a PTQ this weekend here in Madison. But I feel bad for those Lingering Souks. They served me well all of day 1 and half of day 2!

Indy has a Bennigans, which is exciting for me since Wisconsin doesn't. Otherwise, there are plenty of good options downtown. I was at 2 SCG Opens at the convention center just down the street from the stadium last year. It's really just a matter of walking down the block and picking a place, they're all good. I tend to eat either the Steak and Shake downtown or the Bennigans on the east side. Haven't experienced the nightlife there yet though. I bring home-made apple pie with me, so I just drink in my hotel room. As an aside, if anyone wants apple pie or rumchata, I'll probably be bringing both, and you're all welcome to come sit around and drink with me and tell ridiculous stories.

There is a really good sushi place called Sushi on the Rocks a few blocks away. It's a little bit of a walk but well worth it. Wings and Rings is ok for wing/bar food.

LSV recommended the Steak 'n' Shake that's near the venue to me in terms of places to eat on the cheap, which certainly seems to be in agreement with earlier posts.

ok I called around to find out who the artists will be at the GP.

in alphabetical order

Steve Argyle

that is all.

Seriously.. they slow rolled getting artists and now they only have 1. Also when I asked about hotel group rates they said they had planned on doing it but there is going to be an NCAA even going on and the hotels are all booking up/ raising prices.

so if for some insanely dumb reason you dont have a hotel and aren't prepared to spend 250+ a night. They said stay by the airport for around 75 a night in an "ok" room and take a cab there and back.

thanks WOTC for finding this information for us.. psyche

the playmat issue is over and done with. My big problem is looking at WOTC's page with

"coming soon" in every critical block of text on the be GP indy page.

All it took was a couple calls to the TO and I got the information. Who's not communicating here? isn't there an intern or PA that has to hunt this info down by a certain date? as for 1 artist being there Im just annoyed really. all the GP's I've been to have had 6-10 artists all stoked to talk with fans and sign piles of work. I mean come on Rob Alexander loves signing lands.

Good luck to everyone attending. Now that I'm only a few months away from getting out of the Navy, I will be able to go to as many damn tournaments and Grand Prix's as humanly possible. Unfortunately, this is right in the mix of getting out, and although it breaks my heart not to be able to go (corny I know, but in all seriousness - I've never competed at a G.P.) In all likelihood, I will be one of those someones.

Also, I'll probably be wearing some easily-identifiable Zubaz on Saturday for the main event, so if any of y'all want to stop by and say hello or something, feel free.

Pic of the Zubaz (http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Baggy-Gym-Pants-BLUE-CRACKLE-Print-Sizes-M-L-XL-/13/!CDUzWPw!mk~$(KGrHqIOKkYEzldvy++)BNOJ0zP7cw~~0_3.JPG)

I will assume from the zubaz comment that this is Jack?

The last GP in Indy only had one artist as well, although it was a sealed gp in 2009 I think. ALTHOUGH, it was JOHN AVON. You were forced to miss events to wait in a line akin to Space Mountain. If you have your opponent dead on board the next turn, isn't it always correct to Daze the High Tide, rather than the spells that follow? I would have though so, but I have my doubts because I know Ford is a better player than me.

If you Daze right away you get only 1 Mana out of your Island instead of 2 or more so it isn't strictly better.

I guess it's not strictly better. In this situation though, I think it would have been better. It depends on what he (the High Tide opponent, playing RUG) had in his hand for disruption, but since he didn't appear to have a Pierce or Blast to interact with his opponent, I would prefer to Daze the High Tide before the HT player can get double mana off his Islands.

If there was no camera the ruling would be to just move on with Meditate's drawback getting ignored.

Now they try to reconstruct it 100% with the Video footage, though this is very difficult.

I saw Kenny Castor playing in the last second to last round of swiss against a Dredge player. The dredge player was making mistakes and Kenny called a judge over three times, on the third time he asked the judge to stay and watch the match. This I don't have a problem with, but he was demeaning his opponent the whole time calling him an idiot and what not. It was even noted by the Belcher player who played Caleb Durward in a feature match telling Kenny he didn't need to be such a dick about it. This being said I guarantee Kenny is going to complain just as much over this as he did with that dredge player.

Julian23

Is this really what's happening?

While I think backing up the game is the overall way better call, I'm shocked deeply, that after making a final decision, the head judge starts to reconsider it after one player angrily challenges it.

He will probably stay quiet because he is the idiot here. He and the incompetent table judge.

The solidarity player though, I don't know, this play is a) a pretty common line for Solidarity and b) the taking turn thing is quite the freeroll.

Sound kept going in and out. correct me if I'm wrong here but I think they

Put all the cards back in players hands (including the one drawn).
Made it Kenny's turn again.
Let Colin take his turn, normally.

Did I miss something. Did is Meditate just turn into draw 4, create distraction learning 2 of your opponents 3 cards, draw 5th card during confusion?

They put a random card from his hand back on top of his library.

Pretty unfortunate way to end a really great weekend for Colin. Doesn't matter, Q'd for the PT.

Kenny had Force + Stifle to cut off all of his mana and outs. Sad way to see that game end, especially when it allowed Kenny to totally change his line.

I disagree because I think it sets a bad precedent. The new ruling was better, but what I see is a player attempting to undermine the head judge's authority to avoid taking responsibility for his failure to maintain game state.

Yeah, I can see that. I don't condemn his behavior just because he's an impulsive guy. What I'm not content with is a judge that choses to revise a decision that was presented as final. The only reason I could agree with a judge doing so is when suddenly new information about the play in questions comes up. I didn't see that happening.

What do you think about what Di did there? Is it possible to be able to pilot Solidarity to a ~14-2 and then forget about your opponent's extar turn?

Typing this before i board a plane so I'll be brief.

First, thanks everyone for the support. Much appreciated.

Two, I was never nervous. Whoever said that has poor body language sensing skills. I was quite laid back.

Three, the Meditate turn was an honest mistake, missed by both me, my opponent, and two judges watching. It was easily forgettable because I cast it main phase and a lot of stuff happened afterwards. They made the correct ruling on it too, Although it gave my opponent a huge advantage with decision making and ultimately the win. Awkward situation, but I'm disappointed by the people claiming me to be shady or a cheater. That's lame.

I'll write more when I land, I'm about to fly. Like an eagle.
