Lorddotm is the best!
thanks for translate my awful english.
I have. Since the banning of SotF, I was somewhat annoyed that my SotF and Veggies dropped in value and became an illegal deck. Thankfully, I managed some decent trade to get a couple Volcanic islands for free. I'm 4 Underground Seas and 1 Volcanic Island short of owning all the blue duals.
Anyways, I've just recently gotten back, only to learn that my counterbalance deck is not very viable at the moment (ugh). I refuse to play the fish, so I'm switching over to Landstill.
Still, I like to keep up with other arch-types to learn more about the format.
Split hairs somewhere else guys.
Bryant, were you satisfied with the changes to your maindeck? Or would you consider changing those slots again?
They were fine, I plan on adding the Meltdown back in though.
Which 2 cards will you MD if you play with 4 xantid in SB. I will play this on MTGO and there is blue, but not that hardcore standstill and merfolk metas.
Thanks for the report Bryant.
I'm still iffy on main deck swarm though, since you seem to side it out quite a lot and giving them the knowledge of you running swarm means they'll keep their swords in game two which I don't like..
I do see where you are coming from though with 4x swarm. They seem very good in the Utempo infested metagame.
Is meltdown really better than Hurkyl's Recall? Would we ever Burning Wish for it? I'm trying to think of when we'll use Meltdown and all I could come up with is Chalice decks, which we have traditionally dealt with with hurkyl's recall and shattering spree...
Although, I guess echoing truth can sort of work like hurkyl's recall.. hmm.. I think I might be rambling now..
Do Tombstalkers stop Xantid Swarm?
All Xantid swarm needs is to attack to stop them from playing spells. Meaning it can go die in a fire or something after you've tapped it to attack, then reveal your hand and Jedi Mindtrick them into scooping or something.
Meltdown is pretty sweet against Chalice and Trinisphere, but another advantage is that resolving it against affinity is often gg. It has been mentioned in the past that if you have a fetchable manabase, Pulverize is usually better than Meltdown or Shattering Spree. This isn't really possible with Bryant's list, but other TES variants can pull it off.
We do not really care about the Affinity match-up. The thing that Pulverize has and that Hurkyll hasn't is just that it is a sorcery and can be targetted on a BWish.
I'm not really sold on the utility of meltdown over, say, K. grip when I don't really expect multiple chalice effects. Shattering Spree has been good to me. Not sure what I want to take the slot though.
Round Two: Jake Gans with Ichorid
Game Two: I keep a hand of Fetch, Duress, Duress, Ritual, Infernal Tutor, Lion’s Eye Diamond, Ponder. I Duress, and look at Study x 2, Breakthrough, Imp, land, and dredgers. I take Breakthrough. Pass. He plays Imp, Pass, I draw another Tutor, Ponder, fail to find mana, shuffle, draw a cantrip. He discards, dredges, study, then casts Breakthrough…
Nice Report Bryant
Related to this. Was an error not to play duress for 2nd BrakThrough?
As a note to sideboarding strategy. Not the point Im using lately Pact Of Negation, which let your chants and duress efects resolves through mainly M.M. .
If anyone has tryide this let me know your results.
