I don't think combo is the only deck that would play it though. Consider that even if they ban SnT, Reanimator can still abuse Vampiric like they did Mystical Tutor. It would probably push Reanimator into the top DTB.
I'm sure other decks would abuse it as well. Even so, storm combo was already a little ridiculous with Mystical Tutor. I'm sure that Doomsday variants would also contend for DTB or at least one of the top decks in the format given that too few people play them for them to be DTB.

Vamp is a million times better than Mystical. In combo decks and everywhere else. I'd put 3-4 Vampirics Tutors in Nic Fit. Topdecking the perfect card is worth the card disadvantage and 2 life in most matchups.

In AnT and in reanimator i'd say vamp is probably comparable to mystical. Vamp is way better in decks like Nic Fit, but i don't think that would be a problem.

In Reanimator it would be similar I think. But in ANT Vampiric Tutor is probably far better. Getting LED is huge.

Regarding the banning of Brainstorm, doesn't banning Brainstorm make combo that much more powerful in Legacy?
I'm not contending that Brainstorm isn't powerful in combo decks, but it would seem that combo decks can operate much in the same manner as the do now while control and tempo decks loose a lot when they no longer have access to Brainstorm; especially in their ability to combat combo decks. Wizards has used this rational before in June of 2008 when it banned Brainstorm, but also banned Ponder in Vintage. The rational Wizard's used was that banning Brainstorm without banning Ponder gave combo decks too much of an edge over control archetypes.
I fear that while Brainstorm may cause a higher number of control and tempo decks to be prevalent, the absences of Brainstorm would only result in a boom of combo decks. I doubt Wizard's bans Brainstorm if only because it would cause an increase in combo (the one archetype they actively try to discourage: see my signature). Additionally, if the followed tradition and banned Ponder, then Legacy becomes more like Modern expect with a much more expensive mana base.

When brainstorm was restricted it basically killed type 1. Combo decks don't need brainstorm to operate. Meanwhile control decks need the flexibility brainstorm offers them to flush away dead cards. I haven't touched any of my vintage cards since they restricted brainstorm and gush was inrestricted.
Also if they do ban brainstorm, the dci had better ban a lot of combo enablers like LED and show and tell.

To those who were discussing the unbanning of Vampiric Tutor: why not discuss unbanning Imperial Seal instead? It's still probably too powerful, but at least it's way safer than Vampiric.

Brainstorm is still fine and makes the game interesting.
The format has adjusted to Delver.
Show and Tell still gives your opponent a free shot at beating it.

Seal is more like $450-700 as a restricted card in Vintage.

I only wanted to tell him, that costing much moneyisn't a reason for a card to be banned when it's not too powerfull. That Seal would cost 1000 $ if it would be unbanned is probably right.

Imperial Seal isn't even on the reserved list. WotC should throw it in the next commander deck.

Good luck crafting a hand without brainstorm. Good luck no losing to a well played Thoughtseize without brainstorm.
Brainstorm is a crutch for all the decks you talk about, control, combo and aggro. It makes the format too easy.
