How diverse is your removal package? Are you running EE? Vortex? Barbarian Ring? It's too easy for MM if you are relying entirely on PFire. If you don't run EE, you probably want another sweeper in the 75.
I don't think the meta is very good for a streamlined build these days.
Blade decks can certainly run away with the match sometimes (they're harder than tempo decks or BUG midrange), but whenever I lose to Blade I feel like they stole it.
Maybe it's because I play the slower RUG builds more than half the time, and I get my memories blurred and mixed up? TWest really shines in this kind of match.

A lot of people are boarding in sweepers these days too. Heaven/Earth, Fallout, or my favourite - Drop of Honey.![]()
I haven't played without Explosives since before the ban, so I can't speak from experience, but apparently it's a rough meta for spot removal only.
Personally I've been running Vortex, PFire, EE and sometimes BRing too.

Isn't it a good occasion to merge RUG/Lands and RG/Lands into one thread ?! It looks like the two decks are now more close than ever (with only few cards change from either builds, mainly Academy, Tolaria and Intuition). In the old Miracle thread, Miracle creature-less, Mentor and Legends were all discussed in the same thread without difficulties. I think we can do that too :)

I actually noticed this today, when I decided to play RUG because I wanted to do something different. I cut out of RG:
1 Taiga
1 Grove
1 Cycle land
1 Stage
1 Fire
1 Vortex
1 Manbond
1 Gamble
I put in
2 Tropical
1 Tolaria West
1 Academy Ruins
2 EE
1 Crucible
1 Intuition
When you look at it all I did was:
Trade two burn cards for other removal
Trade over two coloured sources
Trade a combo piece and a utility land for a tutor and a utility land
Trade a tutor for a tutor
Trade a piece of acceleration for a piece of recursion
Not much of a change really.
I've played Lands exclusively for 3.5 years now. I go back and forth from RG to RUG, but tweak my list all the time. The changes I make sometimes are as significant than the changes you just described - even when I am not adding or removing blue.
These days I have a hard time telling if I am playing RG with a splash or RUG.

Same here. I've been trying out RUG for about a few weeks now and the only changes I've made are six slot changes, minus Tolaria West and Intuition. At this point, I'm thinking that if there's that much of a marginal difference, what's the harm in changing colours on the fly each tournament?
Fun is a zero-sum game in Magic. Therefore, Prison is the best archetype.

Listen here kiddo, back in my day we didn't have large 20/20's like you spoiled brats nowadays. We had to win with some 2/2 manlands and some 12 mana control locks.
The decks are getting very similar now. I was extremely attatched to intuition for a very long time but recently cut them. It's funny to think that I've been playing this deck for like 5 years now.
Merging is fine for me.
How does that actually work, are all posts from both threads included and chronologically listed?
Or do we totally start over with a new primer?
Anyone bothered to ask the RUG Lands-players if they agree with a merge?
Well this could be interesting. Seems like a store got their stuff early and this was one of the prerelease promos.

I was in the middle of building the deck when the Legend rule changed. I'm not as young as I look!
Also, by the time R/G was a deck, RUG was also making 20/20s, so that distinction doesn't really hold up.
I play RUG most (~75 - 80%) of the time, though it's getting harder and harder to tell. I am a RUG Lands player.
