Looks like people aren't done messing with the price of Eternal Garden cards just yet. Glacial Chasm has started to spike (although on a much smaller scale).

    Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands

That has more to do with people being excited about Solemnity rather than people targeting cards in Lands IMO. If Solemnity turns out to be real in Legacy then Chasm seems like an OK card to be worth a few bucks to me personally. Same thing with Drop of Honey, if 20 Lands players went and tried to buy a pair after the GP then the card is going to run out of stock and spike regardless of whether or not the finance nerds were involved. Drops are also like Moats in Old Miracles anyways, nice to have but not necessary at all.

Thanks to both Sparkii and Supremepineapple. It's good to be making videos again.

    Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands

Typically when Lands does well, some of the cards spike. I think we're lucky in that the majority of the spike so far has been limited to Drop of Honey, an utterly optional card. No one is going to avoid coming into the deck because of Drop. Were we to see another spike on Mox Diamond or Rishadan Port, things might be a bit worse for our potential new recruits.

I noticed it's price today, up again. Meh. I mean I wish I had every card that goes into this deck, buy I will buy foils before I spend that much on drop.

    Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands

I think Moat is a very apt comparison and shows why the price is highly unlikely to stick to the same degree Moat did. Drop of Honey is a convenient way to kill creatures, particularly Leovold and TNN, but it doesn't have anywhere near the utility or power that Moat did in Miracles.

Moat really did function as a one card win against Eldrazi, or as close to that as Legacy decks generally get, and it was unique in this respect. No other card could do that job in quite the same way (well, maybe Ensnaring Bridge). Eldrazi was a pretty large portion of the meta at the time and the matchup strongly unfavorable for Miracles. The UW control deck had the tools to dig for the killer enchantment very efficiently.

Drop of Honey is here much more of a value card that can come in against a lot of creature decks, and there are loads of removal options available to us. The substitute, Engineered Explosives, is more synergistic with the rest of Lands than Ensnaring Bridge was in Miracles. I think the biggest factor, though, is that the Leovold matchup isn't particularly bad to begin with, or at least not bad to the same extent that Eldrazi/Miracles was.

It's pretty risky to spend a lot on a sideboard card IMHO. We might see a shift towards a certain type of combo deck or some kind of control deck with few creatures, and that would probably push the board away from the need for a more diversified removal suite.

I also like Earth right now (meta wise locally) as my sideboard wipe of choice. It's not like we are strapped for choice. That said, Drop is a way to fuck over TNN.

    Lormador is spot on.

Drop Of Honey helps to shore up a couple matches that are already favoured for us. The only reason to dedicate precious SB space for that is if you expect a high density of those matches. Even then, the straight R/G build with Drop is not necessarily better than splashing blue for EE.

You have more faith in the community's inclination towards critical and independent thinking than I do!

People who already play the deck (or who have bough most of it including Tabernacle) will stick with it. But with 2 top16s in a huge GP both running Drop, people are bound to think it's an essential component.

I'm not going to buy into the hype. Sure, it works, but I'll wait for the right opportunity. Right now, prices on MKM are insane. Deck worked fine without, meta is still in flux... I'll wait.

    Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands

The hype about drop made me think about another card. Could it be interesting to play drops maindeck as our only removals, and replace Burnwillows with some Forbidden Orchards to maintain them in play if needed?
We would lose some nice interactions with Punishing Fire, but that would put a constant threat on some decks (d&t, eldrazi, Leovold...) while providing a solid manabase for a colour splash. Any thoughts?

EDIT: nope, stupid idea... Drop discarding ability triggers at any time, not at upkeep

Also, in this logic of easing a splash, cycle land UG is probably coming in HOD. Cutting a tropical for one of these seems like gaining a slot for me.

I see some people playing ratchet bomb before, I am considering trying my old favorite card powder keg. it doesn't hurt our one-drop enchantment.

    Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands

There's currently at least 8 non-basic lands that still need to be spoiled, based on the collector numbers. As far as I can tell, at least 18 lands still need to be spoiled, of which 10 will be basic lands as they come after the full art basics. There's three slots between the last artifact and first land, which could also still be non-basic lands. So, I have good hope they will include these lands, but sadly Wizards has been disappointing me before when hoping for spoiled cards (Damping Matrix instead of Chalice for example in MM17 :p), so I'm not yet too much counting on it. It would be soooo good for my RGu list though. I tried out the R/G cycle land instead of a Taiga and that was far from ideal. Two trops is a lot though, so hopefully that becomes a cycle land soon!

They have already spoiled the UG land that enters tappped, which existed in Amonkhet in the colours of the cycle lands. I think it is safe to assume the opposite colours cycle lands will be released too.

Those are part of the intro decks and have nothing to do with the actual set. We should have our answer in about a week though, if I'm not mistaken.
