    Strongest Combo Deck

What is the strongest combo deck in the format right now.

SI has speed, TES has resiliency, Breakfast is just nuts.

All of the combo decks seem to have pro's and con's (as it should be) but if you had to play one of the above combo decks at the next GP (being held tomorrow conveniently) what would it be, and why?

    Edit: Poll failed...

    Current Combo decks:

    TES
    Breakfast
    Iggy Pop
    Belcher
    SI
    Ichorid
    5c Tendrils
    anything i'm missing?

    Re: Strongest Combo Deck

I would personally lean towards Breakfast, but TES is damn sexy as well.

I REALLY want to get an Ichorid deck up and running, but I'm still not very pleased with any of the lists I've seen/worked on. If I can figure something out that I'm confident will race both fast combo and be able to pull better outs vs control, I'd stick with that.

It's a damn hard deck to hate out unless you are looking into multiple pieces of hate or a strong backup control measure.

Yeah, right now i think Breakfast is the strongest deck in legacy actually. I'm not sure why it's seeing so little play. I has the combo "i win" part, the "Force that" part, and it can send goyfs in FTW.

It does so many thing, it's almost impossible to shut down, unlike some storm decks which crumble to chalice at 1 or 2, this fights everything.

Ichorid and TES are also both very powerful.

I would have to say these 3...

    Re: Strongest Combo Deck

TES is strongest imo. Sure breakfast can do many things, but its not best at anything. TES is an engine combo deck. It is so damn powerful and doesn't crumble to something as silly as yixlid jailer, leyline, chalice for 0, or tormods crypt. Breakfast is also quite weak against chalice.

Also what is this bs with ichorid. The deck is crap. It dies to hate so easily. I would play SI anyday over ichorid. Dredge failed in a format as limited as standard. Why would it work in extended and legacy when it doesnt gain nearly as much as other decks do. Also people argue that SI is bad becuase it is easy to disrupt. Seriously SI goes off turn one. Dredge goes off on what? Turn 3 or 4 or 5. Once in like 100 games it will go off turn one. The deck is crap.

So here's how i'd rank them...

    TES
    Breakfast
    SI
    Aluren
    Belcher

There aren't really any other competitive combo decks besides these, unless i'm forgetting one. I'm not considering things like enchantress to be combo decks.

Breakfast is the best, followed by Ichorid and TES which arnt far behind. Belcher and SI really arnt too good because they scoop to a counterspell, and Aluren just sucks...

For me the Foodchain looks like this:
    1. TES
    2. Breakfast
    3. Ichorid

I've never been a fan of Breakfast. A couple people picked it up and tried it around here for about a month, and they never did really well.

    1.) Breakfast
    2.) TES
    3.) Ichorid

I won't lie, even if it is my deck.

    Re: Strongest Combo Deck

So it looks like if your going to be playing combo, the best two choices are Breakfast or TES. Everyone seems to have these two decks in their top 3.

What makes them better than the other decks? (I kind of know, but want to see what other people think)

    Re: Strongest Combo Deck

TES is a difficult combo to fully disrupt as they can just randomly topdeck into win!

Breakfast has that problem that vintage bomberman has as it is affected by everything! needle, swords, countermagic, crypt.... yeah..

I think SI is both the weakest and the strongest and let me explain why, occasionally it simply looses due to its' speed and sometimes it is a godsend which allows it to try again latter whenever. I have beaten and lost to it both due to its' speed.

    Re: Strongest Combo Deck

SI is like trying to fight Jackie Chan with a bow an arrow. If your first arrow dosn't hit, it's over.

SI will ether win, or lose. Your opponents can't do anything.

However, i would hate to be like that, as you lose to yourself, one of the reasons Spoils was removed from Belcher.

Breakfast is fast, and strong. TES is amazing, but loses to counterbalance.

I currently play TES, and am trying to pick up breakfast!

You obviously haven't played the deck enough. It recovers well, not only from pushing it too hard but from mulligans as well. This is due to the way it's setup as a mixture of bombs and mana.

I find that people lose to being awful players who don't know their lists much more often than they lose to the deck itself. I say this with more experience playing the deck than anyone else.

    Re: Strongest Combo Deck

Personally I was talking about the BG varient... the UB variant can beat control and aggro control much more easily (well not easily, but it doesn't epic fail either).

The blurb about knowing your list applies equally. You can't expect to go petal, dark rit, led, infernal tutor (break led in response) finding a draw4, play the draw4 and expect to continue to go off. You have to know when it's a good idea to go land, dark rit, draw4 and when it's better to go land, dark rit, cabal rit, draw4 opening the greater possibility of comboing out that turn. It comes with experience and knowing your list.

    Re: Strongest Combo Deck

Is there a thread/list for this 5c Tendrils?

    Breakfast
    TES

are the top 2 as far as I'm concerned. I've taken Belcher into a unsuspecting metagame FTW, but it can crumble so easily which is why those 2 are so good.

    Re: Strongest Combo Deck

If you look at TES next to SI, SI just seems so bad!

SI is a good deck, don't get me wrong, but the fact it relies on draws is it's weakness. It's like TES when you have to D Retursn, a risk. TES you can look at you hand and go, "ok if this chant resolves i can win, if not i wait a turn" SI goes, if this draw4 resolves, i stand a chance of being able to continue to combo, if it gets countered, i have to wait a few turns to draw another, while my now 10 life, gets eaten by the goyf!"

TES also has an answer to EVERYTHING! I love cave-in, but run pyroclasm, just cause it COULD answer teeg, and i never like feeling like i don't have an out.

TES and Breakfast always have an out, in addition to being hard to stop decks. Counterbalance is on of the few cards i hate seeing with TES, and Breakfast, i just drop goyfs and swing FTW!
