Can't make this ptq same day.
Out of state visiting close family (ironically in WV & VA, when they are having their tournament I'll be back in MA...classically bad timing on my part...)But this has the Dave Feinstein Stamp of Approval! That means it will be awesome! All of you should go! Plus, supporting stores that support us are part of what makes the MA area a constantly improving playground of Legacy.
TL,DR: if you think Saito is ok, check your moral compass. It may be broken. - Spikey Mikey, amen brother

A casual stasis deck? You must not really like your friends. Do you play it before or after you pull the wings off of flys and microwave the neighbor's cat? - EwokSlayer
Seeing as how that was the first time i had actually played the deck, played half of the combo decks in the field, and you had a god hand game 2, Roob, I think that my 2-3 scrubbing out of that tournament was excusable. I do plan on pwning some noobs and bringing home some money so if anyone from hammafist happens to play me, then it will be their misfortune.

Anyways, I'll just throw a Top 8 prediction in here for the fun of it.
In no order:
1 Vial Goblins
1 UGw Thresh
1 Dragon Stompy
2 Dreadstill (I'll say it again, people are bound to catch on)
1 Survival
1 Ichorid
1 Rogue-ish deck
I've gotten dragooned into transporting family for Easter. That means I'll be driving all day on Saturday and won't be able to make this. Rotten luck, because I was really looking forward to a potentially big Legacy tourney.
Best of luck to everybody who does make the trip!

Sorry to hear you can't go scrum. Thanks for the kind words.Originally Posted by scrumdogg
This is a tough choice I had to make as well. If you asked me at the beginning of this season, I would've said PTQ. Three top 8's and a GP day 2 later... I'm choosing the legacy tourney. The reason why is simple: Fun.Originally Posted by vanele
There's no doubt in my mind this tournament will be more fun than a PTQ. Just the mental grind of PTQ'ing is stressful and there's enough of them left where I can go to others. Factor in that this is the store's first big tournament and I know how well they run things... it's a no-brainer for me.
I now have to find a deck for this tourney... but I imagine it will have things that turn sideways :p
I've said nothing but positive things about the store since it opened about a month ago and my view has remained the same. The 3 J's (James, Jay and Javier) do absolutely anything they can to make sure their gamers are happy. I don't take skipping a PTQ lightly considering the season I've had... but supporting this store instead is worth it. It's that good.
Really the only issue I can think of is that the store is tricky to get to. You really need a little bit more detailed directions than mapquest or yahoo maps would give you, so here they are =D
1) Take exit 25 off of Rt. 95. RI is ridiculously small so the exits come up quick. Once off of 95 you want to bear left towards smith st/ri-122. Take a left and go over a small bridge. You'll now be at the backside of of North main street. Looming in front of you will be a ton of stoplights and stores on this road. You'll end up taking a left to get onto North Main Street after you go over a small hill.
2) Stay on North Main, it turns into Main after about 2 minutes of driving. You'll be at the end of North Main when you see a yellow arrow sign that lets you bear left or right. Bear left, passing a sign that says RI-122. You'll see a big green sign that says welcome to historic Pawtucket shortly after.
If it's taking you an awfully long time to reach the end of North Main, you probably headed the wrong way and are going towards Downtown Providence. Don't do this =p
3) Turn onto Dudley Street. This comes up quick after the welcome to pawtucket sign and is easy to miss. If you miss Dudley street you will have trouble finding the store.
4) Dudley is a small side street just park in the parking lot at the end of it. This is the store's parking lot.
5) After you park you'll notice a giant mill complex next to you. Go into any of the side entrances and you'll immediately notice double doors. Go through them and you'll see a mini-shopping mall inside. Depending where you enter you may have to take a left and go through one more set of doors, but all the stores in the mill complex are next to each other so follow any of the signs for 'love-bugs' or 'gamekeeper' and you'll find die-hard. Note the store is die-hard games, not gamekeeper. They are next to each other but sell completely different games. Die-hard is the magic store.
6) You are at Die-hard Games. Win.
The mill complex houses alot of stuff, including a very popular Bar called the Blackstone. The blackstone is very visible on the main road. Other landmarks are Woodlawn Plaza and a Cleaners that I forgot the name of. Basically you won't see any exterior signs for Die-hard so you have to watch our for Dudley Street. Just watching out for a mill complex won't cut it because Main Street has tons of them. :p
Registration starts at 10:00 and the tourney starts at 12:00.
It is a sanctioned event and they will be doing decklists. It's always better if you have your decklist done ahead of time. Here's the official link:

The store's number is 401-374-0921. If you have any issues finding them don't hesitate to call. They will be starting promptly at noon so give yourself time to get here and get situated.
I haven't looked forward to a Magic event this much in a long time. Thanks again for your support. See you Saturday.

Glad to see Ray and Dave will be there. My post was not a tirade against Vintage or anything of the sort, but rather a reminder that posting things that are largely irrelevant (like every sanctioned Magic event in the known universe on the same day in every tournament thread) is generally annoying and unhelpful. Tournament threads are for details and trash talk. The end. Also, all of you who missed me, I'll be back for this one.
