I'm saying that sometimes you don't have to have one-hundred people on your team to be necessarily the "best" team. You said if more people on your team top 8'ed, then you say you guys have would the edge.

But that just isn't so, and a team effort is not an individual effort. And therefore, at this point in time, that presumption would be false.

    EDIT: Ugh, change the subject.

Awesome event. I would have taken notes, but once I lost the first round, I wasn't too sure about going the distance. I had an awesome time, and it was amazing meeting so many Sourcers in one place. I can't stop going over game three of the finals in my head, it was just so intense and drawn out. A well deserved victory by Geoff.

That was the best line ever. That was a great Finals, too. I still have no idea how Geoff came back after stacking the damage with the Factory and gaining the life off Swords. One minute, he slammed the Tundra on the table with no cards in hand. The next, he had like ten cards in hand.

    That's what Standstill can do.

Re: 07/19/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game

Hey, since we're on the subject of teams, I'd like to bring up Team David Gearhart. THAT team has done pretty well. But seriously though, WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT MATTER? There, we're done. For fuck's sake.

Anyway, definite good times on the event. I should have my tournament report up in a day or so, and that should be a good read.

I'm going to do the props/slops section here instead of the report, because I can.

    Props
    All the people coming out.
The terms "Masshole" and "Masshattery". Fucking genius.
Mass. people for being generally cool.
EBINSUGEWA!!! for having a savagely awesome name.
    Everyone who Top 8'd.
Nightmare's EDH deck. That shit makes me giggle.

    Slops
Ichorid. Seriously. I hate that deck.
    6 hour detours. Beatings.
Nightmare for talking shit and then getting his ass kicked.
Smelly bastards. You know who you are.
Geoff for beating me TWICE. For fuck's sake.

Definitely a well run event. Except when the lights turned off. That wasn't cool. Always a good time to see the people up in Syracuse/Not Virginia. You guys kick ass for the most part. Especially because of the unending high fives. That's fucking awesome.
For the foreseeable future, expect to see less of me. I've lost my internet connection, and so I'll only be able to get on by siphoning free Wi-Fi from the surrounding areas. Which isn't always consistent.

Plus, the guy that I used to leech off of has now instituted password protection. This means that I effectively do not have internet at home. :(

I claim the title of most high fives given/taken by David Gearheart. It must've been around 40.

I thought Goblins was going to be the correct choice because I heard there was going to be a lot of Ichorid and expected Threshold to show up. I've been playing Canadian Threshold in the large events recently, but didn't feel like playing against either Ichorid or mirror matches all day.

I played very well and coming up just a little short in the end. My loses was to Bryant with TES which I expected and the second lost game in the 6 round to Anwar with Ichorid in 3 games.

The tournament was a lot of fun, hopefully the next one will be even better.

Also, I blame Tenniebopper for not showing and having 9th place go to me instead of him. :)

Re: 07/19/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game

Oh, speaking of teams, how about that Team Info Ninja? Won the Batcave DLD, Top 8ed the $1000 Syracuse Event? That's pretty good coverage coast to coast.

Tournament Report up now, pictures tomorrow.

Sneak Peak of the "Mad Props":
Lonelybaritone, for housing me and picking me up from the train station, and DDing
Kadishack, for housing the whole world and driving me to the train station.
    The guys that Top Eighted

    Slops:
Prize Support. 68 people * $30 entry fee = $2040 to the store.
    $1000 to the top eight, and 10 boosters each to 9 - 16 = $240.

    $2040 - $1240 = $800 to the store.
Prize for 5-8: $50. Frown. The Vancouver DLD had better prizes for 5-8 with 20 fewer players.

Survival was a great choice for me yesterday. I lost to Ichorid and It's the Fear in the Swiss. Ichorid I lose 95% of the time, and Deep6er straight up outplayed me for his win. Those were cool games. I lost to TES in the Top 8, which is alright. But I steamrolled Imperial Painter, 5c and Red Thresh, MUC, and the mirror. Goblins should have seen more play, and so should Ichorid, probably. I was very happy not to see more Ichorid, though.

Just thought I would add to this, sorry for not really introducing myself to more people and for not being as helarious as I normally am. I had a massive hedache because the lights above one table were twitching on and off(Don remembers). I went to sleep with it and woke up with it.

Also, Deep6er, why did you want to meet me so bad?

Mainly because I thought you were older than you were. You've had some "crotchety old man posts" and I thought you sounded old. I was trying to figure out if you were or not. :)

    Guess I was wrong.

In all fairness I imagine at least half of the players paid $25 to pre-reg. for the event. They also gave away a Mana Drain, Abyss, Sea Drake, and some shitty magic art prints.

Maybe they'll use all this money they made to PUT A FUCKING TOILET IN THE STORE.

    Anyway...

    Props:

-Edgewalker's theory of dick sucking = Profit! $200 in ten minutes.....
-Teen Wolf for making an appearance.
-Big B for making Top 4, and letting me borrow cards.
-Geoff for keeping the bacon in Syracuse, like I asked him. I know you did it for me big guy.
-Grindstone (and to a lesser extent Painter) for coming out of my sideboard to steal games. Priceless.
-Japanese Foil Robots because I still love you little guys. Even if you do kinda suck.
-The Abyss for being my precious door prize.
-The Epic Syndicate for all their help before the event, especially Di for basically making the list.
-Altered States for putting on a decent event.
-All the non-New Yorkers who made the trip.
-The Man Sub. 12 inches of win. Because Colin knows how to fucking party.

    Slops:

-Carousel Mall. Keep trying to stop me from smoking in your parking lot.
-Altered States lack of toilets, over priced cards, too little prize support etc. Yes, I refuse to use your stupid ass new name.
    -The people who smelled like
-Affliction & UFC for putting on fights this weekend, thus forcing me to miss the Top 8 playoffs.
-Myself for being a fucking scrub the last few months.

I was asleep when I was invited for some "Unicorn Cuddling".

    Extra Props:
Escaping the weekend without receiving "Arabian Goggles" from Zach Tartell,
A complete lack of Unicorn Initiation, including, but not limited to, Golden Showers and Unicorn Cuddling

This was actually 12 inches of win. And I believe my exact quote was:

"It's actually Buffalo Chicken Ranch with bacon, because I know how to fucking party."

    Classic.

Teen Wolf for making an appearance.
This shit made my day. Someone get those pics online, so the world can see it.

The Epic Syndicate for all their help before the event, especially Di for basically making the list.
I finally get most of the credit for once. Thank you Trevor, thank you. I love the deck too.
