This usually doesn't work - you can't generate the interest you'd have in an area that does have Legacy. For example, in Syracuse or NoVa, we'd have like 25-30 based purely on locals showing up. It can't hurt.
Yeah, they'll be an entry fee. Probably in the $25-30 ballpark. We're really not looking to profit from this, but we do need to cover our costs. We considered the idea of reducing price based on donations, but who evaluates which donations are worth what? What if there's a dispute? It generates more hassle than its worth. If people want to help make the prize pool redic, awesome. If not, well hopefully someone else will. I know we're off to a decent start based on the Adepts who have offerred to help, but we can always use more.Is there going to be an entry fee? I'd assume there would be. And what would the price be?
I was also thinking that it could be neat to have a free entry with donation of something to the prize pool. It just depends on how expensive the space is that you end up getting.

If it were that simple I would make it out there myself one of these days. I want to go to this more than anything, but it's just not realistic to do it on an October weekend. Maybe if I get lucky and the few of us in CT can work out a car-pool or something, but none of us live anywhere near each other, and it'd be practically an hour in the wrong direction for anyone I'm aware of on this site to pick me up, and vice-versa likely... bleh.
We'll see. By then I'll have a car that actually functions, so I might just be able to make it up, but no promises.
Wait... should GAGOMY come out of retirement!?!?!
I think I shall be there. I might even have some stuff to put up as door prizes... we'll see.
I would definitely like to make this. Although I don't post much I've been on these boards for a while. I'd definitely like to put more faces to names. So far I've only been able to meet a few of you. However, 10 hours is quite the drive. If there is anybody else in the midwest area that would like to attend send me a PM.\
Edit: That's Indy -> Syracuse. I would not be adverse to having this in Virginia as its about the same distance for me.

Actually, simultaneous regional Source tournaments would be a nice touch. Source-East in Quse, Source-MidWest in Columbus (or MI or MN or wherever, don't get sidetracked...or all 3!), Source-West in a Cave, Source-EuropeNorth in Germany or Belgium or Amsterdam, Source-EuropeSouth in Italy, maybe Source-Japan if they can get it together. Whatsisname the Peace Corps guy could do Source-Stuck-In-The-Pacific-Ocean. Why not make it a global celebration & see what can happen? Also, it would be really cool if all the Top 8s then played an online tournament of some kindwith their local wining decks.

A casual stasis deck? You must not really like your friends. Do you play it before or after you pull the wings off of flys and microwave the neighbor's cat? - EwokSlayer
One would hope the local TO/go-getter would set up all the logistics (they already have a date to work with). Trying to do so from one person/area would, indeed, be a nightmare (no pun intended). And the online Source-off was more along the lines of a wistful hope. Obviously that would have to be done afterward, over a period of time. But most people are not going to be able to make any one tournament, why not encourage other locales to be part of the concept/event?

VA would make it very hard for both MA people and Canada people to make it. That doesn't really seem like an even trade off so that a couple of Southerners can make it. Syracuse seems to be the most centralized location, and has proven capable of getting large numbers to attend.
