Vision Charm was dismissed on the decks creation, it has been tested and proved to not be worth any of the slots you would use Stifle/Trickbind in. They are in pretty much all situations strickly better.

@Enigma: That's the way to build the maindeck of Dreadstill, or at least what I have been advocating for a while now. Mono blue is what I truly feel is strongest as well.

Re: [DTB] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

Splashing at least 1 color seems mandatory to me somehow.
Bounce could work in the Grip slot but I rather destroy enchantments and artifacts for good.
That being said, here's an almost monoU list I threw together the other day:

    4 Stand Still
    4 Brainstorm
    4 Force of Will
    3 Trinket Mage
    4 Phyrexian Dreadnought
    4 Stifle
    2 Trickbind
    4 Daze
    3 CB
    2 Spell snare
    2 Engineered Explosives
    1 Pithing Needle
    2 Sensei's Divining Top
    1 Vedalken Shakles

    2 Flooded
    3 Polluted
    4 Island
    2 Tropical Island
    4 Waste
    4 Factory
    1 Academy Ruins

    SB
    4 BEB
    3 Krosan Grip
    1 Vedalken Shackles
    1 Tormod's Crypt
    2 Relic of Progenitus
4 Propaganda--------without true creature removal this backs me up till I get Shackles/ Nought online

Re: [DTB] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

Hello everyone. I have been playing dreadstill for a few months now and I even won my first legacy tournament. That said I still have problems with several decks.

    Deck:

    Creatures (9)
    4x Phyrexian Dreadnought
    3x Tarmogoyf
    2x Trinket Mage

    Spells (31)
    4x Stifle
    2x Trickbind
    4x Force of Will
    3x Daze
    4x Brainstorm
    3x Spell Snare
    4x Standstill
    2x Engineered Explosives
    2x Sensei's Divining Top
    3x Counterbalance

    Land (20)

    3x Island
    3x Polluted Delta
    3x Flooded Strand
    4x Tropical Island
    4x Mishra's Factory
    3x Wasteland

    Sideboard

    1x Tarmogoyf
    2x Pithing Needle
    3x Krosan Grip
    3x Blue Elemental Blast
    2x Tormod's Crypt
    2x Echoing Truth
    2x Annul

For starters I was thinking of going U/R or U/R/W. Red for sideboard and/or white for swords to plowshares. Another idea is to raise trinket mage to 3 and total lands to 21. Also I want to change my SB to fit with the metagame in my area. My buddy plays several decks like 5C thresh, Dragon Stompy and Aggro-Loam. Some other decks that were played last tournament (and I'm sure will be next one) are The Perfect Storm, Suicide Black, and Mono-Blue Control.

The main problem I am having is that it is difficult for me to come back when a threat has hit the board. The decks I have the most problems with are Dragon stompy with their first turn tricks and 5C Threshold which uses the same tricks as I do but with Mystic Enforcer beats.

I would very much appreciate any advice you guys can give me. I've been playing this deck for some time now but I have a lot of room to improve. Thank you in advance.

Splash white for 4 STP -> You should be all set to demolish "creatures.dec".
    -or-
Splash red for 2SB Firespouts. I would consider an additional MD Firespout in an aggro meta.
    -
Also, 4 Tropical Islands is overkill, even in a straight UG version. 3 is max. imo. You'll never need more.

Don't forget to check out my very special UGW version one page back, it worked out quite well for me!

I have a question about the SB. Which is better graveyard hate; Crypt or Relic?
I run crypt, but I have never hat to use them, so I don't know how well they work. Also I have scene some decks running a mix. Why would one do this. It seems like it would be beast to go with one or the other.

I think it depends do you run Tarmogoyfs? And what kinda your meta is? Relic kills terravores on your own so its nice, but in other purposes crypt is better choice in my option. Against dredge, you want to get crypt on 1st turn atleast if you won roll and even you won't, you can drop on your turn crypt and sacrifice it instantly if you need to.

Re: [DTB] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

    Good things of Crypt:
    -Mana Cost 0.
-Dont destroy your graveyard (this is good when you have tarmogoyf in your deck)

    Bad Things of Crypt
    -First Target of pithing needle.

    Good things of relic.
-Its very rare name this card with pithing (if you dont have this card in play and your opponent plays a pitting)
    -You Draw a card
-You can convert goyf in 0/1 (if you dont play goyfs thats good) and you can kill terravores

    Bad Things of Relic.
-In you only have 3 lands, you cant search this card with trinket mage and playing it the same turn.
-You have to keep one mana for activate this card because your opponent can try to kill you in one turn if you have your lands tapped.

Againts ichorid I preffer Crypt (2 crypt 1 Relic or if there are too many ichorid in your metagame 3 Crypt 1 Relic may be ...), againts a metagame with few ichorid decks 1 Crypt 2 relics.

    Sorry for me English...

Split between the two, run two Crypts and 1 Relic is normally the "prefered option". That way when the Ichorid player plays turn 1 Pithing Needle you just stare at your Trinket Mage and go "Sweet".

Re: [DTB] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

    Hallo,

I really like the Dradstill deck, but I at not sure what version is better.

If the version Ugr with splash for Green for Tarmogoyf and Red for Blast or if it is better version Ur just for Red blast.

Do you think, that you can tell me the advantages and disadvantages of each versions?

Or what about splashing other colours? White for Swords to Plowshares or Black for Dark Confidant in SB (Side out the Noughts for more control) and Thoughtseise in MD?

The decklists for Green splash and just Red splash are pretty the same with the following difference:

    4x Tarmogoyf

    VS.

    1x Trinket Mage
    2x Spell Snare
    1x Trickbind

    Thank you for you thoughts.

Re: [DTB] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

I think it depends a lot of the metagme where you play. If it's for a big tourney as the GP Chicago, I would go with the more consistent: Ur rood's list.

But in the meta I play, there's a lot of Aggro & Aggro-control so I need more answers to creatures. It's why I play UGWr. G's for Goyf & Krosan grip (sideboard). W's for the best removal. R's for the best mass removal. In my meta, running a more shaky mana base isn't really risky so it's why I prefer to have more options > less consistent mana base.

And you're pretty right with 4x Goyf = -1 trickbind, -1 EE, -1 Mage -1 Dreadnought(or only 3 Goyfs). If you put UGr, you have the choice of having 3 Spell snare or 3 Echoing Truth.

    Hallo,

    Thank you for your thoughts.

Our meta should be more combo. I think about 25 - 30 % of the field. That is the reason, why I want to play Dreadstill. The other deck I want to play is Ad Nauseam, if there will be Aggro decks.

I expect about 40 people. It is not as big as GP Chicago :-) :-) :-)

    Any other thoughts?

Re: [DTB] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

4c dreadstill is probably the worst choice for a heavy combo metagame. I would go straight with Ur list and I would put Echoing Truth for sure.

Other choice: Uw would also be good because of Meddling Mage in Sideboard.

Has anyone tested against the new Dutch Stax builds they have going around right now? I notice some builds MD Moat+Humility now so I was just wondering.

Re: [DTB] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

    Hello everyone,

I was planning on building dreadstill, but was not sure about which variant I should bring to my meta.
    My meta consists of:
    ~ 7 Threshold (Ugb, Ugw)
    ~ 4 Landstill (Uwb, Ugw)
    ~ 2 Dragon Stompy
    ~ 2 MUC
    ~ 1 Survival
    ~ 1 Iggy pop
I was thinking of playing UW, but I am not sure. Any Suggestions?

With that amount of blue in your meta i'd suggest the UR Build. That deck is also pretty much the least vulnerable for Moon effects.

All the removal in your meta is owned by Magus of the Moon. I would totally play UR and run it.

To Enigma : I tought that meta seemed somwhat familiar and then i saw you wherfrom Montreal, i usuly play in Quebec and the meta is similar. To be frank, i dont really like dreadstil in our meta, the deck isnnt "bad" but there are too few of our good MU and a good deal of our worst ones. My favorite built of dreadstill is the Ur, but for here we got to run tarmo and I think red is supérior to white , there just so much small aggro around, firespout(pyroclasm) is a blessing.

People around here dont like to play combo, period, im thinking about changing that

Re: [DTB] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

    -Counter LED, Breakthrought, Dread Return
    -Stifle Bridge, Cephalid
    -Sacrifice Dreadnought vs Bridge
    -Swords Ichorid
    -EE @ 0

+ Sideboard Tormod's, Relic or Jotun Grunt.

Personaly, as I rarely see Ichorid, I prefer Jotun. It serves against Loam decks, Terragueddon and ThreshThreshThreshThreshThreshThreshThreshThresh + it attacks.

    ---

@Kilukru: At my last tournament, there was 3-4 Combo in the top8 . But I didn't face any because we only play 3 rounds.

    I finished 2nd; beating burn 2-0, RBG Goblins 2-0 and Faeries 2-1

In the 6 games I won, I must say 3 of them has been won by Tarmogoyfs.

+ Swords served me well against Lackey and against burn.

PS: I would like to know who you are
