Final Wording
Golden Lotus
Legendary Land (M)
Shroud
Golden Lotus enters the battlefield tapped.
When Golden Lotus enters the battlefield, sacrifice it unless you sacrifice three lands.
{T}, Sacrifice Golden Lotus: Add nine mana in any combination of colors to your mana pool.
So yes you can now stiffle the ability, and you can float 3 mana now.....
Time to break this....
Just a thought:
Deck Full of Brokeness:
18 Islands
4 Golden Lotus
4 Stiffle
4 TrickBind
4 Force of Will
4 Daze
4 Counterbalance
4 Sensies Divining Top
2 Spellsnare
4 Phyrexian DreadNaught
4 Progentius
4 Nicolas Bolas
If it didn't have shroud, it could be untapped on the turn it came into play...

This could be a decent supplement to any decks that run Natural Order + Progenitus combo.
sorry it was just a quick list:

Why would you need fetchlands in a monoblue deck?
Shuffling away cards from Brainstorm and Diving Top would be their primary use.

I would love to see this card break Gifts Ungiven as a combo setup card. Something like EOT Gifts for Lotus, Ruins, Loam and Mind Slaver (insert another 1-2 card combo here).![]()

In addition to Stifle, you can use Snap or Vial -> Cloud of Faeries to untap it and use its ability without having to pay the price (Shroud prevents most of the regular untap effects from working).
If that's the new wording, Lotus actually becomes kind-of-interesting for Legacy, probably very good for Extended - particularly since Devastating Dreams rotated out - and could be a format-defining spell in Standard if there's broken enough stuff to fuel.
YOU'RE GIVING ME A TIME MACHINE IN ORDER TO TREAT MY SLEEP DISORDER.
Man, seriously, now it's Stifle-able? So basically Stifle-Lotus gives +8 mana of any colour for just 2 cards (and a land drop)? That's better than pretty much all of our fast mana engines (Dark Ritual gives +2, Cabal Ritual +1 or +3 w/ Threshold, Seething Song = +1, Rite of Flame +1 or +2 usually).
Though there has to be something better than Progenitus no? Some sort of Igg loop, or fast Ad Nauseam? It's not unimaginable to go: petal, lotus, stifle, Ad Nauseam, win, and that can even be done on the first turn! Or something like, crop rotation, stifle, ad nauseam/igg loop. Man this seems pretty bonkers.
Time Stretch: it's pretty devastating to get two extra turns. It can also be ptiched to FoW if it ends up as a dead draw. The drawing of cards will also replace the cards used for Golden Lotus.
Apex, you're forgeting the CIPT clause, so its a turn slower then you think... but still prety good with a stifle.
Right, CIPT. I need to RTFC, roflmao, ggthxnore?
Well, fuck that. That's not worth it then. 2 cards and a turn for +8 is not worth the trouble for a storm/ad nauseam combo deck, particularly if a bunch of rituals can do the same job.
Though maybe it can have some use in some other combo deck? Crop Rotation still seems decent, since you can go EOT, Crop Rotation, Stifle, and then untap with 9 mana to do shenanigans.
Tooth and Nail -> Kiki-Jiki + Pestermite
Is a 1-card 9 mana win con
why would you spend all this time assembling a slower and more vulnerable combo than any Tendrils deck?
When in doubt, mumble.
When in trouble, delegate.
Why is it more vulnerable? The main combo piece, lotus, can't be touched, (Shroud>Wasteland) and it should be easy to protect the casting of a single card.
Team Giancoli. Rocking the mediocrity since 2008.
Because it would be pretty difficult for Counterbalance to reveal a 9cc spell?
The Source: Your Source for "The Source: Your Source for..." cliche.
You could run it in 43 Landstill and play Nicol Bolas or something really expensive and stupid with it. However, you can recover quickly with Exploration and Crucible of the Worlds.
