This doesn't really have anything to do with what is or is not "pimp", that's a meaningless word to me in the context of Magic. I don't really care if my cards impress you, because when I try to make a deck look good, I have a very limited audience of one.

Can I get a source/link? I've had this conversation with others and no one could find a rules source. Opinions, yes, but an actual rule, no. So, I'm hoping you can show me something definitive.

Ah... I see. Seems odd that they would make a ruling so clear cut and at the same time so inaccessible and esoteric for the Magic community as a whole.

I find miscut cards as pimp especially if they are 1-of's in a deck, like in Vintage for example where most cards are resticted. Miscut powers are hawt, Gunslinga's restricted miscut Chinese Ponder is hot.

it comes down to how difficult it is to find, NOT how much it costs to buy. I am not at all impressed by foils for that reason, or foreign cards - I could go on ebay tonight and buy them if I so chose.

I have to disagree. There are foreign foil versions that are not always available and therefore NOT easy to find. The reason why they can be so damn expensive is because those that have them are only the stores who are willing to let go of them only at a certain price due to scarcity.

I have talked about this in the past. A lot of people who like english foils have this idea that if they have enough money they could easily buy korean cards or japanese foils. This is completely untrue. The only cards where you can get whatever instantly if you have the money are english foils. If I wanted to waste money I could build any deck in legacy in english foil within a day. Finding japanese foils or korean cards takes a lot more effort and is a lot less dependent on how much money you want to spend, but more on how dedicated you are to tracking down the cards. This is why english foils are not impressive to me.

Here's another example. A lot of people complain about seeing bb duals instead of decks. Well tbh finding a nm alpha underground sea is much harder than building a completely english foil goblin deck. Its not even an issue of price, but of rarity. How often do you see a nm alpha sea on ebay? Not very often. What about fnm foil goblins? Theres tons of those up all the time. Seeing foil edh decks is much more interesting as they don't contain mainstream foils that are extremely easy to find. I personally have a foil binder I use as trade fodder and even though I never tried to build foil goblins or anything like that I can literally pull out over half of the deck in english foil just from that binder and fill in the missing cards with japanese foils and korean cards.

Anyway, how about we try and stay on topic instead of reopening the discussion of what is pimp every few weeks. I'm pretty lazy and don't feel like pulling stuff out of binders to scan them, but I do want us to get back on topic so here are some cards that came in the mail today...
