oh, I see. I had tried doing UQuin once, granted it was for the superbudget tournament. Didn't work out too well. I was actually thinking black, since it has the sweepers and the removal and the disruption and the Jell-O Pudding Pops.
EDIT: here's a half-assed sample list.
Lands 24
4 Scrying Sheets
17 Swamp
3 Dark Depths
Creatures 12
4 Vampire Hexmage
4 Lodestone Golem
3 Tombstalker
1 Razormane Masticore/Bloodghast
Sorcery 12
4 Sinkhole
4 Thoughtseize
2 Damnation
1 Raven's Crime
1 Syphon Life
Cool Guy Lock Combo: 7-8 slots
Contamination/Bitterblossom
Anvil/Chains
Rituals+Nether Void
et cetera
Or just Hymn and some other form of disruption.
Artifacts 4
4 Top

Gideon would be a perfect fit in a more traditional Wombat type build. If you're running the Painter's Servant/Grindstone combo he's a superfluous; sideboard material at best.
I'm not running the combo win-con (too rich for my blood these days) but Gideon plays well with wrath effects, Humility. I'm excited about this guy, and excited about the plains walker win cons white has!
What is your opinion on running DOJ in the Sacred Mesa slot? It gives the deck much more presence under Standstill.
Honestly, I have been piloting the deck without the Painter Stone combo win. I am currently running these as my win con:
2x Decree of J, 1x Marshal Coup, 1x Genju of the Fields, 1x Sacred Mesa, 2x E. Dragons.
Sometimes, I proxy 2x Painter's Servant and 2x Grindstone for 2x Decree, 1x Coup, 1x Genju and honestly, I actually miss them. Decree is so versitile and Coup acts as another Wrath effect late game with legs. Genju is the best defense along with an active Humility.
I am still working on getting my combo pieces but the way I play the deck, I find that my replacement win cons were actually more helpful in the deck.
And DoJ has actually help me steal games from Merfolks where-as if I had the Painter or Grindstone only, it would have been a lost game.
Doesnt really help the thread but just to let yall know, this deck is awesome.
I just played the most mind-numbing game i have ever played ( I was in MWS for more than 2 fuckin hours)
I played against a Neo-Lands deck (43 w/ Valakut)
Game One... He got Loam going, then Valakut.... I kept stalling the best as I can but it wasnt enough. He got me to one. Then At the end of his turn, I toped, find Runed Halo. Next turn, I play Runed Halo on Valakut while I'm at 1.. he goes GG!
Game Two... I mull at five because MWS does not like me. I kept 3 Plains, a Pithing Needle and a Painter's Servant. Then the bad-luck didn't stop there. I kept getting Plains. I then found a Top but I kept topping on irrelevant stuff (mostly creature removal... I didnt sideboard because I dont sideboard when I playtest)... He got his Valakut going. He seemed to forget about the Servant. I never attacked with him, just there sitting, keeping a low profile. I tried stalling the best as I can but it seems that I cant Top into Story Circle or Runed Halo to protect me from Valakut. He got me to two when I topped into a Tutor. At end of his turn, I tutored for Grindstone and win the next turn. It was awesome!
The game took so long that I started playing 5 minutes before WV vs. Duke tipoff and was still playing after Duke won the game. I totally missed the whole thing but its worth it.
It was an epic game and I am still excited about it.... I have never felt this good about control before!
Not just control, but Mono White control!
When I first started playing Wombat back in the day, there was nothing more satisfying than bringing games to a grinding halt; not with counter magic and other blue tricks, but with plain white hyjinks. Maybe I'm just an asshole that way, but I can still see the crestfallen looks on people's faces when they'd get paired with me...
A healthy dose of Bandages would be forthcoming...
I love going to time, still on the first game. Not so great for rankings, but just diabolically fun.

Incredibly interested in building this. I've proxied it up and will be play testing all week before any decisions are made but the one question I have is, of course, the one all budget players have:
How integral is Moat to the deck? I understand how important it can be when you fail to resolve (or lose) a scepter lock and how badly it hoses a lot of decks when it hits the table but...
Can't even find one for sale let alone wanting to fork out $200 for a card that plays in very few decks when I'm attempting to re-start a collection.
I remember when you had to really think about trading a Shivan Dragon for a Mox Jet. And usually you thought about that trade for weeks wondering if you should've kept the Shivan.

Is the new wall of blossoms playable as it fits right into the main theme of the deck. He seems quite good versus pretty much every matchup even vs combo it cycles for your answers.
