I am pretty sure this creature would be nuts in the upcoming standard formate.

For legacy it may see in play but wont be more than 1 or 2 ofs I believe.
This has the most potential in modern since it has a bigger card pool than Standard and has a lower power prerequisite than Legacy. With Fauna Shaman, Birthing Pod, Chord of Calling, Vengevine, Sakura-Tribe Elder, and Hedron Crab, it might have what is needed to do its "thang." Although It'll probably need some disruption to combat the combo format. Not to say that it can't see play in Standard or Legacy.

The way they introduce this preview card is so fucking beautiful.

    Champion of the Parish
    W
    Creature - Human Soldier
Whenever another Human enters the battlefield under your control, put a +1/+1 counter on Champion of the Parish.
    1/1

Also, this guy could be kinda good in Maverick. Maybe. MoM, Knight of the Reliquary, Noble Hierarch, and Mirran Crusader are all humans.

    wow

    Kessig Wolf Run
    Land (R)
t: Add 1 to your mana pool.
xrg, t: Target creature gets +X/+0 and gains trample until end of turn.
When a werewolf changes for the first time, that first howl is said to echo through the wilds till moonset.

Trample is not something to look down on.

I'd say the new land is much better than Skarrg, in that it's better at what Skarrg attempts to do in Knight/Loam decks. It gives Knight/Crusher/Goyf trample like Skarrg, but you can pump a lot of mana to go for the kill in the face of a chump blocker. Hell, you can pump Terravore too even though it already has trample.

The spoiling of this card makes me wonder if there will be a rare, 1/1, one drop for each color that looks neat. If so, I wonder if they all get bigger some way.

    Undead Alchemist 3U
    Creature - Zombie Rare
If a Zombie you control would deal combat damage to a player, instead that player puts that many cards from the top of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
Whenever a creature card is put into an opponent's graveyard from his or her library, exile that card and put a 2/2 black Zombie creature token onto the battlefield.
    4/2
    It looks strong, very much.

Kessig Wolf Run is awesome. Great flavor and a ton of potential. You can KotR it up and make him trample over for a bunch.

But we know this is legacy and game always ends on turn 3, batterskull will never be played for mana or ever used to equip right? :P

Wolf lands looks stronger then Skarrg, as the deck that would use it probly wont be using mana that much once its in topdeck mode.

He'll be decent, but Humans are going to need a relevant, non-conditional Lord that isn't named Adaptive Automaton to even be part of the 'tribal' discussion.

There are a ton of played and playable Humans. Dark Confidant, Eternal Witness, Mother of Runes, a lot you mentioned, Grim Lavamancer, Snapcaster Mage, the list is probably long as my bank statement is red.

    Creature - Spirit Mythic Rare
    Flying
1: Mirror-Mad Phantasm's owner shuffles it into his or her library. If that player does, he or she reveals cards from the top of that library until a card named Mirror-Mad Phantasm is revealed. That player puts that card onto the battlefield and all other cards revealed this way into his or her graveyard.
    5/1
This looks like it could be a 1-card combo on activation.

@ Rufus: That's a really interesting card! It is probably too expensive for what it does, but who knows. It might work in dredge, as a Dread Return target. Edit: if Jin-Gitaxis isn't cutting it as Dread Return target, then this one won't either. My bad.

@ various: Undead Alchemist is not going to make it in legacy. It is too expensive, too slow, too vulnerable and doesn't actually do very much in any situation where you aren't easily winning anyway.

But I cant see it. How to get so much creatures in the yard? Buried alive + him = same mana than Mahamoti djinn!

EDIT: And why a playset? sooo useless in multiples!

I was thinking of this last night. Decks using Intuition seem best placed to abuse Skaab Ruinator, since they don't have to twist themselves into knots to make it work. You either drop it in the mid to late game, when its additional cost is easy enough to pay (e.g. failed Natural Order, Misstepped/chumped Hierarchs, countered Goyfs, etc.), or you cast Intuition and find yourself two/three copies EOT. If you don't have another creature in the yard, Intuition grabs two and Life from the Loam/Darkblast instead, and you can use dredge to find another. Or you just put two creatures in your yard and can wait a bit to cast it from the graveyard. Better yet, run Unearth and you're golden. The ability to cast it from the graveyard is just sick--not just for finding copies, but where redundancy is concerned too. The extra cost is indeed a hindrance, but I suspect it's ultimately fairly minor for a creature that chomps Tombstalkers.

I sucked it up and bought a playset. I will find a home for it. I suspect I can probably run two fairly easily in my NO BUG deck. Since it runs Intuition, Life from the Loam, and Unearth already, I think it's going to be a fantastic fit. The deck is about to get really sick. =)

The problem is, they do have to twist themselves into knots to make him work.

Assume you Intuition for 3 Ruinators. They give you one and the other two go to your yard. Unless you have a random third creature in your yard, you can't cast the Ruinator they gave you. That means you Intuitioned for three dead cards, which seems terrible. Alternatively, you could Intuition for a Ruinator and two dredge creatures, but then you're playing a bad dredge deck.

And what happens if, say, you cast your Ruinator, exile three dead dorks, and then lose him to Path or Swords? Assuming you saved at least one Ruinator when you cast your first one (which means you need two unrelated creatures in the graveyard), in order to make a second one you need three fresh creatures. This seems like an absolute ton of dudes for any non-Dredge deck, which cuts into the space you have left over for counters to protect him (thereby increasing the chances that your Ruinators will get successfully killed). I mean, maybe in the Snapcast Mage deck that flashes back a ton of cheap, conditional counters, but...

The alternative is Aether Vial, but having a guy you can't (or can barely) cast without Vial seems kind of loose.

I'm just not seeing this guy working in Legacy. Any deck I can think of that would want him is better served by Tombstalker (easier to cast almost all of the time) or something like Worm Harvest (easier to power up almost all of the time).
