i guess tarmogoyf is the creature, that translates equally into most languages of all cards i know (dont know about chinese because i cant read it)
but in russian it´s also tarmogoyf and in japanese tarumogoifu, which pronounces tarmogoyf

hmm I don't even really know if this is the right forum for this sort of question... it is pimp related, anyway, here goes
my LGS completely randomly just has x4 boxes of Russian Guildpact... completely random set and language to buy a set as they are mainly a draft / FNM store (read: standard card centric)... anyway I didn't think much of it's the packs are 5.50 and I didn't ask how much a box is but its probably like 120$ or something...
the question... do you think its worth going in on a box or two over the possibility of relevant foils? I mean I'm looking at the Guildpact spoiler now and thinking if I get a foil Electrolyze, Mortify, Shattering Spree, Angel of Despair (that would be nuts), Debtor's Knell, any Shockland, or Niv-Mizzet... It seems really tempting but if I got a bunch of eternal irrelevant junk than it would be pretty close to wasted money, I mean, what does any serious magic player want less than more bulk junk.
I hope it doesn't sound like my minds made up, I really am looking for advice, what would you guys do? They probably won't have them for long if somebody is thinking the same thing I'm thinking. I lurk forums and I knew Russian was a really hot / pimp language right now so that's what made me think about doing it...

I mean, there's a chance you could crack some decent stuff, and $120 isn't too much more than a regular box at most brick and mortar stores. It might be worth it, unless you'd rather spend $120 on coke, on gas, or milk for your babies.

Just recently bought 1 Russian guild pact box and 22 loose packs and got 1 steam vent and one stomping ground , made me realize I'm never buying boxes again. I would rather buy singles.
i already had 23 russian booster boxes (2more incoming..lorwyn and time spiral, never had boxes of those), and i have pulled some decent stuff:
foils:
doubling season

surgical extraction
mental misstep
nonfoils:
1 dissension filler card
lots of shocklands
2 dark confidants
6 knight of the reliquary
5 noble hierarch
2 sword of feast and famine

6 progenitus (funny that I pulled a mythic so often, i cant explain it to myself, some other mythics from that set i only pulled 1x)
the worst edition was, as jamied1981 said, guildpact, i only pulled crap out of it and where i had the lowest foil ratio.
once i bought loose time spiral boosters (only 10), and i pulled 5 or 6 foils out of them - now that was quite funny =]
at the moment i cant find them, because i´m making a small re-inventory of my russian stuff
also the differences between displays from the same edition can be tremendous, and i am speaking nonfoil-wise.
i wont make a lot of dollars out of it, but i just love opening sealed product!
basically i´m keeping just some foils lol...
