seriously? biggest hoser tease since this fucker vs Baneslayer Angel. If you really wanted to block phyrexian mana spells shouldn't the hatebear cost 1W or WW so you could, uh, i don't know, actually stop them from getting to cast said phyrexian mana spells? Stupid wotc.
aaaand the last of today's interesting previews:
doesn't seem playable. interesting, though.
This is kinda neat.
Holy shit I think that might have made pox a dtb??? lol But seriously this is the nuts in BUG control right?
Either way I expect that this card will see ALOT of play. Power creep is pretty intense this set. Maybe one of the most powerful I have seen so far. Anyone agree?
Its worth noting that the Angel doesn't stop Ad Nauseam because the life isn't paid to cast the spell, its the effect of the spell upon resolution rather than an additional cost.
Druid Depository? Shit sucks. More like Druid Suppository.

oooh, i have to re-evaluate.
That ho blanks Fetchlands. Sure, that's a lot better on a creature you can get out early, but having a relevant body and evasion is pretty important too.
Though I must gripe about the fact that they could have and should have taken it further, to "Player's can't pay life or sacrifice permanents to cast spells or activate abilities." That would have put a damper on KOTR and introduced another way for maverick to break open its mirrors.
Kinda cool that the Angel stops fetchlands and Force. Perhaps it could see play in DnT. It makes all your dudes bigger. It has evasion which is great with equipment. Turning off fetchlands becomes less relevant by the time it gets into play though. Same with Force. Likely they Force this, or the Vial that you would use to sneak it past countermagic.

Fucking angel just shut down the coolest deck to come up in a good while. No more Carrion Feeder/Bombardment with recurring zombies shanenigans. Also stops gieserlband's (whatever its called) ability. Actually, it stops a bunch of stuff like dredge's Dread Return and Threapies.
"Want all, lose all."
If it gave my creatues Haste too it would be perfect for Combo Elves. But the way it is I wouldn't swap Emrakul for this. After a long Combo Craterhoof Behemoth doesn't do anything since most of my Elves would still have Summoning Sickness and the +x +x effect only lasts until end of turn.
Emrakul in this situation immediately wins the game.
Killing Wave is crazy good... This set is pretty ridiculous.
Agreed. Haste would have put that card over the top. Still it will be pretty legit in Elves, especially since its a potential Pact target, unlike Emrakul.
EDIT:
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Cloudshift.
It could have potential. An extra CIP effect for W? I assume you cannot play this along side Dreadnought.

The dude himself has haste. From what i've seen, most elf decks usually have like 10+ guys on the field by the time Emrakul can make an appearance. If at least one of those is a Nettle Sentinel that's not sick, then you can easily bash for 27 with trample with just that and craterhoof.
@Joemauer: The card itself is a gambit that can really open someone up to being hurt by pox. Or the other way around.
I'm really liking the look of that new green creature. I've had a lot of history with elves and I would surely test dropping emrakul for 1-2 of him. You can either go off and swing over trampling hard, or you can hold off a turn and swing over hard the next turn after fetching him. On-color win conditions is something that Elves often lacks. Mirror Entity is a bit wonky and requires running suboptimal cards (Despite the deck still performing extremely well), Emrakul being off-color often requires the use of Fierce Empath to be easier to find and is a terrible top-deck, this is something definitely worth looking into.

Definitely agree here. At X = 3 it means they get to keep their best creature while you cast Magma Burst.

Sure, 27 damage with trample doesn't sound too bad. But is he better than Emrakul?
Craterhoof can be countered with Force of Will, Emrakul can't. Craterhoof dies to Swords to Plowshares, Emrakul does not. Craterhoof can be removed with Submerge or Neutralized with Maze of Ith, Emrakul can't (at least not the timewalk and the Annihilator 6 will get rid of the Maze pretty fast).
Craterhoof COULD be a devastating finisher but Emrakul always IS.
Craterhoof's casting costs are much lower than Emrakul's though. So he could be interesting as an alternative wincon if we don't combo. But 8 mana seems a bit too much for that.
