Im going to play in a 40-50 people BoM 6 trial in SLOVENIA... I have no idea what the slovenians are going to play..honestly...
I got 3 decks which I am quite experienced with...
RUG Delver
BUG Deedstill
BUR HiveMind
Are they playing enough Duals to justify a tempo-plan a'la RUG? Or should I just stomp all these budget decks with HiveMind?
Hey guys,
Just wanted some opinions. It's a small tournament; here's what I know will be there, out of about 15 decks:
Tribal Elves aggro
Reanimator, a few of them
Maverick - also a few builds
Burn,
U/W control/Stoneforge.
Paitnerstone
I can build a lot of decks. Thoughts?
Can you build hightide? because that might be pretty good in the meta.
I would also recommend esper stoneblade cutting a vindicate for a maindeck wrath of god. (so to help maindeck g/w)
and theirs always just kill them faster (The epic storm)
don't know if the post is too late

I agree on High Tide. Spiral Tide is awesome if you can find the Candelabras.

Expect me or die. I play SI.
When should I bust out enchantress again, what are some good/bad matchups that are around in the current meta.
So I am going up to Worchester MA. for the SCG open and I was wondering if anyone had any insight to what the meta looks like. I'm prepared for the typical decks, RUG, Maverick, Stoneblade, Sneak and Show and Dredge, but was curious if I should know of anything else. Thanks.
I have all the cards need to make some great Team America decks. However, my meta is devoid of combo and is full of random aggro, aggro-control, tempo, and mid-range decks.
I need a deck that utterly crushes all of those archtypes but only loses to Combo. Any suggestions?
You should play Lands.
Lands beats fair decks but loses to combo.
Let's pretend you have a metagame and the only two decks are RUG delver and Maverick.
What would you run?

Mono-white control. I know the RUG matchup is hugely in your favor, I played that MU a lot. Maverick I have less experience with, so I'm less sure, but I'm pretty confident that mono-white can deal with it, especially with the printing of terminus. I'm sure there's something else, but I love mono-white and I'd be happy to play it there :P
Ha, this is what a friend and I came up with too. I have 4eak's Mono White Control deck built, and my friend was advising me to play it over any of the better (IE. has dual lands) decks that I have built.
Sorry if this was a misuse of this thread; no it doesn't. But when you're looking at the numbers of some high level tournaments, these two decks make up . . . what, a third? of the total tournament goers, and a high percentage of top decks. Just wondering what would prey on a duoculture that looked like that.

This is currently what I'm looking at in my meta:
Sneak and Show
RUG
Stoneblade (UW Miracles / Esper)
Maverick
Reanimator
Spiral Tide
I was previously playing Aggro Loam, but due to monetary constraints I've had to sell most of it; Aggro Loam didn't really compete very well anyways (well, against the fair decks, but given my success there I often play Sneak and Show and Loam had a real shitty matchup there) against many of those decks.
Keeping in mind that I am on a rather small budget, what are some of your ideas? I have most of Elves together but Elves is absurdly easy to stop. Albeit, it's technically the deck I have the most experience with and I could reattain the deck with little effort. As much as I genuinely hate playing combo decks to me they pop to the top of the list of abusable decks; Solidarity is something I've always been interested in playing and is currently an absurdly cheap deck to build.
In other words, while I'm broke I wouldn't mind playing a cheap combo deck or something until I'm set on money to start reinvesting into magic. What do you guys think?
I "sorta" rotate between the decks in my signature, but I lean towards high tide way more than anything else, playing it at least 50% of the time, the rest of the time lately, it's been either Pox or Prison Stax because the deck is so fun once it "locks down" Goblins too, but since Cavern of souls was printed, I'm waiting on completing a playset before continuing, I just don't feel comfortable knowing it's no longer an optimal list with that card available.
one thing I can always count on is a Rug player showing up, a blue/black something control player showing up, a player that always plays combo but rotates between different ones, a player that has all the resources but rotates decks more than anyone else there, which I am leaning towards calling "charles syndrome" >^,^< a player that either pushes maverick or elves, a player that can't decide what to run between everything that doesn't run blue, an infect player, a loam pox player, though they usually don't stick with a deck for too long and I am surprised they have played this deck for more than a month as such, a reanimator player that no longer shows up, a 12 post colorless player that hasn't shown up in even longer, and other stuff I either cannot remember, or it's players that show up so infrequently that I cannot recall at the current time what they push.
In either case, local metagames are always fun, you can sideboard accordingly, and just push against what you need to
my problem is i can not get myself away from high tide, even though it is not the deck I should be playing if I want to win, I should be playing pox more, or be working on finishing maverick, something that has a better game against RUG since that is the deck more than anything else that gets me right now, and the person pushing it shows up at both of my local metagames weekly, since I play at 2 different places a week.

Primary legacy deck High Tide primer
Kinch867: I would say combo Elves (version with Vengevine). If they stop combo, you can just beat them with Veggies or zillions of elves. Since you have most cards and Vengevines are cheap right now, that should be good enough until you'll want to invest more. Cradle's aren't necessary ;) .
I also would prefer some advice. Lately local metagame (right now we have a small event each second Tuesday plus one bigger event on one weekend each month) has turned out to be quite combolicious; usually we have 1-3 Storm combo decks, 1-2 Combo Elves, 1 Boros aggro (MD Thalia), 1 Maverick. Those are guaranteed; sometimes some Bant, UR Delver, RUG, Zoo, Goblins, Merfolk etc. show up, but that's not for sure everytime.
Basically, I want a deck that's fun to play, preys on Storm combo and Elves and does not autoloses vs Maverick and fast aggro. I have playing DDFT for a long time, but it's getting difficult when almost everyone sides in ~10 cards of combo hate.
I was thinking abot something like Team America or something with counterbalance, but I'm unsure about my chances vs Maverick and aggro then. Any suggestions?
@ Kich:
You could also try out Nic Fit. It's kind of a cheap deck & in your meta you are prepared for everything with the white splash (rector) or even the blue one... just look up the nic fit thread.
If you really want to play combo, play your Elves
I don't know if such a deck exists. Good against all combo and Maverick?
Counterbalance is bad against Maverick and not particularly great against elves.
Edit: I forgot Terminus is a card in counterbalance decks now.
I don't know how team America vs Maverick matchup goes, but Team America is great vs all combo while usually being fair against most other decks. Just max out on Dread of Nights and Engineered Plagues in your sideboard perhaps.

Howdy all. My metagame consists of 1-2 Goblins, 1-2 Maverick, Esper Stoneblade, Jace BUG Control, another Mono-U control, Enchantress, sometimes a SnS, UR Delver, and Mono-B control (Pox), one I can't seem to beat (queue violin).
I have played in the past and have the cards to build:
- RUG Delver
- NO Pro Bant
- Maverick (several varieties)
- BUG Control
- Mono-U Control
I want to play a Punishing Aggro Loam, which seems like it will work in this meta (running 4x Chalice), but my records online are about 50/50 (seems like a deck that needs to run hot to work well, but when it works IT WORKS). I appreciate your input folks!
Entity, MUD seems like it would be good in your meta.
Kyle, your meta has basically no combo, so Punishing Aggro Loam seems very good. Just practice with the deck more. Natural Order Bant also should be decent in that field, assuming you can contain Goblins (which I'm assuming are all running Cavern of Souls. If not, they should be easier MUs.)
